Olomouc, Czech Republic: A Hidden Historic City with a Timeless Square
City Square…
St. Wenceslas Cathedral…
“Olomouc possibly originated as a Roman fort (Mons Iulii) and by the 9th century was an important stronghold. A bishopric, established there in 1063, was raised to an archbishopric in 1777. At the Peace of Olomouc (1478), Moravia was ceded to Hungary. Olomouc was considered the Moravian capital during the Thirty Years’ War (1618–48), when it was occupied and plundered by the Swedes. The badly damaged town was displaced after 1640 by Brno as the foremost city of Moravia. It retained its importance as a military stronghold, however, and played a significant role in the mid-18th century during the struggle over Silesia between the Prussians and Austrians. The emperor Ferdinand I of Austria abdicated there in 1848 in favor of the young Francis Joseph I, and the Punctation of Olmütz of 1850 restored the German Confederation. The town’s fortifications were eventually demolished in the late 19th century.” – Britannica

Good morning, ern! The mind spins contemplating all the goings-on. We don’t want the ole memory bank to go on overload.
You have a great day and weekend, too.

Good mornin’, ernn! It’s Friday, but it’s still morning, so who knows what rabbits might get pulled out of a hat today! Coffee’s ready whenever you are, sir.

Thanks T and good mornin’. Loving today’s espresso maker! That will put a bounce in your step and a twinkle in your eyes!

Good mornin’, Lucille! That is one of the most massive churches I’ve ever seen. Stunning! Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

Good morning, Texan! The Old World has so many incredible architectural wonders. That’s one of the few pluses for the UN–the World Heritage sites program naming these treasures and the desire to preserve them. Not that the designation means anything to jihadists and their fellow haters.

Good mornin’, and happy Friday, y’all! It’s been another busy week, and we’ve made it to the end. I’m tired just watching all the winning, so I thought we might need a shot of something stronger. I found this espresso machine with an eagle that I think works well with the way things are going. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

Good morning, Lucille, Ernnburn and Tex.
Most of the morning calls are in and I’m ready for coffee. A large please.
I knew Czarina was going to like the espresso maker and indeed she does!
I’ll wait patiently in line.

Another shiny beauty, Texan! A nice espresso shot would just fit the bill this morning. Some plain but pretty cups to go with…
…and this grouping on the more decorative side, too…

Good morning, Wee,
You do find the most extraordinary things.
Are you referencing?
Politicians and dead voters?
Or politicians with bad toupees and wigs?

All balloons without me. I will stay on the ground. We have plenty of static (not attic – as autocorrect changed it to) electricity here right now.
And, I have always had a lot of Law Enforcement Appreciation.

Good day, Czarina! It would be such fun to ride in a balloon basket at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta held each October, where you DO NOT want static electricity….
And to celebrate National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a video of Arkansas State Police Trooper Jacob Byrd showing his specialty–the PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique)…he frequently performs these maneuvers at night with limited lighting!! You’ll see him at the end checking out the front of his vehicle….
Alas, though I love them, apricots are not permitted for CKD patients…too much potassium.

Tail of the storms came thru early, with light rain overnight. Now in a lull until the worst appears, which was predicted first to be relatively nothing and is now up to marginally severe with chance of tornadoes.

“Marginally severe”, seems rather contradictory. Does that mean it’s only severe where a tornado hits?

Good morning! It’s a warm and sunny day today. We had a bit of rain last night, but all of our snow is gone. Happy Friday!

Good mornin’ Stella! We had that glorious warm and sunny day yesterday and just as suspected lasted the one day. Back to overcast skies, chilly temperatures and bundling up against the wind chill. I made sure I extracted every bit of that beautiful day we had yesterday, I can assure you!

Our earlier sun has disappeared behind the clouds, but it is still warm – and no snow!

Mornin’ All. The Internet says it is snowing here, but it isn’t snowing right here where I am. We got a slight, very slight dusting last night, but nothing now. And, the sun is shining through the clouds. I do think it has been snowing the last few days up on the mountains. That is where the heavy white clouds are. It is about 29* right now.
Hope you are all okay and the weather isn’t too bad.

Good day, aus! We’re finished with snow for a few days, too, though it’s cold enough to keep the already-on-the-ground snow from melting.
Take care on the icy roads!

‘Comrade’ Singham to face House subpoena as his CCP-tied network leads renewed anti-ICE protests
By Jerry Dunleavy – Updated January 8, 2026 11:44 PM
China may be helping astroturf far-left protests against ICE via a financial network in league with radical-left financier and multi-millionaire Neville Roy Singham. Singham funds a network of groups expressing anti-American sentiment. He will now face a Congressional subpoena.

A friend whose hobby is tracking aircraft just sent me a tidbit about 4 F-5 U.S. aircraft have been making practice runs at our southern border. His opinion is this may be in preparation to hitting the Mexican drug cartels.
