I asked my mother what changes when you become a grandmother. Her answer stayed with me.
She thought for a moment and said:
“You love differently.
When you raise your own children, everything feels urgent. You worry, you teach, you correct, you try to prepare them for life.
But when your children have children, something softens.
You get to experience that kind of love without carrying the same fears. You have more time to notice the little things the tiny hands, the laughter, the moments that disappear too quickly.
And then you watch your daughter become a mother herself.
You see parts of yourself in the way she holds her child. You also realize that some of the tenderness you wish you had given her more of you can now pour into her children.
Maybe that’s the beautiful part of becoming a grandmother.
You don’t get motherhood back.
You get to experience its love from another side and somehow, it feels even more precious.”
A bird owner built a small drone with a cabin so that his disabled bird could enjoy the sky again.

Mrs. T and I talk often about the differences between being a parent and a grandparent. She described it this way – It’s almost like a do-over. You are looking through a different lens. You see where you might have done things differently than when your main job was to essentially keep them alive until they reached 18. You don’t have to focus 24 hours a day on the grands. You realize that no one gets hurt if you have ice cream for breakfast. And…..it’s entirely OK to sugar them up all day on Saturday, and then send them home! 😉
