Good mornin’, and happy Monday, kids! The first week is in the books and I would say it’s been a raging success. Now the slog begins where it’s not all done on adrenaline. That’s why I’ve brought out this coffee/espresso combo machine from the 30’s or 40’s. It’s gonna last. Keep your head on a swivel so you don’t miss anything and carpe’ your coffee!

Dark grey outside and lightly drizzling. Supposed to clear up after lunch. Then will remain in the 60’s, with no temps below the 40’s for at least a week.
Come on down for the Super Bowl, as it will be lovely weather, and they have one fewer thug, thanks to ICE arrest yesterday.

National Mentoring Month – ai awoke from a dream about mentoring this morning, and didn’t even know this was the day!
National Chocolate Cake Day – oh, yeah! Come on over and we’ll have some later.
Holocaust Remembrance Day – I am the last generation who grew up with people who lived through the camps in those days, people working and living among us. I remember an HVAC man who came to our house had his number tattooed on his arm.
Vietnam Peace Day
National Bubble Wrap Day – I think everyone knows someone with this addiction…

I remember folks with numbers on their arms, as well. Mornin’ Czarina!

Good day, Czarina! When I was a child we watched Dave Garroway on TODAY from the beginning in 1952. Each day I wouldn’t leave the house to walk to school without first watching a 5-minute history lesson which started at 7:55 AM and was in-between TODAY segments. Those snippets of past happenings added to my interest in history which began several years earlier when I started my collection of articles about famous silent film stars. Previously I’d been a devotee of an L.A. TV channel which showed silent films which I found great fun.
Probably having to do with knowing Jesus was a Jew, I became interested in the genocide later called the Holocaust around my 7th/8th grade year having seen an article about it in LIFE magazine, I think. The library had next to nothing readily available for me to read about or featuring it at the time. When Leon Uris’s novel EXODUS was published, I got a copy and later saw the film starring Paul Newman in 1960.
Any documentary having to do with World War II was of interest. LET MY PEOPLE GO was a 1965 film about which I actually wrote a thank-you letter to the producer, David Wolper, who sent me a letter in response. Check out the film here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_My_People_Go:_The_Story_of_Israel)
When I think of the Holocaust many tragic things come to mind. This little boy’s photo is one of them…
You can read about him here….

Part of the Jewish culture is making sure loved ones are remembered. On the anniversaries of their deaths, family members light a candle to commemorate their lives. Holocaust victims more often than not have no mention of their specific day of death, just a vague timeframe. May they all be remembered this Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels.”
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.

You’re welcome, Czarina. Years ago I used to watch a Jewish Christian pastor who always closed his program with the phrase, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”
“Sha-alu shalom Yerushalayim.”
When I was in college I knew students who had family members who died in the camps. They were all born in the U.S. and didn’t have to endure what their relatives did. But they remembered them and chose to keep their memories alive by speaking about them.
May we all have loved ones who say our names and remember us affectionately after we are gone.

“The word Holocaust is derived from the Greek holokauston, a translation of the Hebrew word ʿolah, meaning a burnt sacrifice offered whole to God. This word was chosen, and gained wide usage, because, in the ultimate manifestation of the Nazi killing program—the extermination camps—the bodies of the victims were consumed whole in crematoria or open fires.”

Afternoon All. In the low teens here as usual with a high in the 20’s. It is overcast with a white sky so it isn’t dark. They are forecasting snow later in the week, but who knows.
Last week was a real whirlwind, and this week appears to be starting off the same way.
Hope you all have a nice day and stay warm and dry.

California Drops Prosecution Against Sandra Merritt, Who Exposed Planned Parenthood Aborted Baby Part Sales
Liberty Counsel | Jan 27, 2025 | 7:19PM | Sacramento, California
Before this unprecedented case, the State of California had never criminally prosecuted undercover journalists for surreptitious recordings made in the public interest. Yet, this courageous grandmother was charged with 16 felonies and faced more than 10 years in prison for shining a light on the abortion industry’s profit from illegal organ harvesting from aborted babies.
