On Saturday evening I watched an unedited appearance of Dudley Moore on “The Johnny Carson Show” in December, 1982. At the end, Moore played his composition “Six Weeks” from the film of the same name co-starring Mary Tyler Moore, for which he composed the entire film score.
Rather than post the long interview, I searched out a YT of the theme song and came up with this version from Moore’s only piano solo jazz cd, “Songs without Words”….

Good day to you, WeeWeed! The ability to boldface lie seems to be a prerequisite for being a governmental scientist, doctor, or most anything else to do with Covid 19 and the new variant. Whatever happened to the studies which showed that the Wuhan virus is so minute that it can penetrate a mask? No one has actually disputed that contention.
Will this type of mask be the next requirement?

Mornin’ All. Hot and humid here. We went to a baby shower yesterday. It was so nice. It was all family and close friends except for me and my friend. She is our housekeeper and we were delighted to be invited. We both enjoyed it so much. She has a daughter, 12, and a son who is 9. They are not his kids, but you would never know it watching them interact. She has done a good job raising them. The daughter was so excited about the new baby that when she heard it was to be a boy, she ran out and bought a whole bunch of presents for him for the shower. Some clothes, toys, etc. I can tell she is looking forward to the new baby. Nice to see some happiness at this insane time.

I have occasionally wondered why you never see currants for sale in grocery stores and produce markets. I just found out that it was illegal in many states to grow currants (or to sell them) starting in 1911 because they (and gooseberries) were thought to be carriers of a disease that killed white pine trees and, thus, threatened the lumber industry. Apparently they are still outlawed in some states.
I can remember a neighbor growing gooseberries in the 1950’s, but they were the only gooseberries I have ever seen! I recently bought a jar of gooseberry jam, but it was imported from England.
