HAVE A GREAT TACO TUESDAY!

I just realized that what I thought were tacos looks more like tortilla chips with all the fixings for a mouthwatering appetizer. So y’all have to use your imaginations for your favorite tacos. Personally I’m in the mood for fish tacos today.

Good mornin’, Lucille! We call those nachos down here, and our feelers don’t get hurt if you don’t call ’em exactly the right name. Sometimes we end up with those if someone is just learning how to make taco shell and has a couple that don’t quite make the grade for those who like the hard-shell variety! Grab some coffee, ma’am.

Good day, Texan! Thanks! I knew that edible had a name of some kind. But a senior moment rose up and done removed it from my memory bank.

Good mornin’, and happy Tuesday. To go with our theme of tacos or nachos, which we’re ok with either one, I found this little number. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

Good mornin’, Miss Wee! The only food we absolutely will eat that’s obtained from the trunk of a car parked in the empty lot of an abandoned warehouse in a shady part of town, just before dark! 😉

In NO it’s Manuel’s Hot Tamales. Couldn’t get a photo to paste, but they were little wagons by the side of the road in regular places, with a light bulb lit to show you the way.

Well, Texan, a colorful pot goes with colorful and delicious-looking Mexican fare. Put the coffee on speed dial, please!
Here’s some framed Mexican tiles ready to hang on your coffee room wall…

Festivus
National Pfeffernusse Day – The exact origin of the cookie is unknown. However, the Dutch believe that pfeffernüsse (or pepernoten in Dutch) are linked to the feast of Sinterklaas, which is celebrated on December 5 in the Netherlands and December 6 in Germany and Belgium. This holiday is when children receive gifts from St. Nicholas, who is partially the inspiration for the Santa Claus tradition.
National Roots Day – I guess to get ready for those odd relatives who show up…

Good day, Czarina! Pfeffernusse are sooo good…
Re National Roots Day…about 35 years ago I did a bunch of research on the paternal side of my family, mostly based on the humongous stack of correspondence from paternal relatives which I found in my garage after my father passed. The research on my maternal side was minuscule and was gleaned from talks with my mother.
From all that, an incomplete family tree was compiled on my memory-writer electric typewriter I used at home. My sister distributed a copy to each one of her four children. None of them know what happened to their copies. And for some unknown reason there’s not a copy in my file folder either. No energy to create it all again from my notes, though it would certainly be easier to start from scratch with today’s technology.
Re Festivus…
Sen. Rand Paul’s 2025 Festivus Report Cites Hundreds of Millions in Taxpayer Waste on Cruel Animal Experiments Exposed by White Coat Waste Project
By Cassandra MacDonald – Dec. 23, 2025 12:20 pm
In his annual Festivus tradition of airing grievances against government waste, Sen. Rand Paul has dropped his 2025 report, slamming billions in reckless spending – including hundreds of millions on barbaric animal tests uncovered by the watchdog group White Coat Waste Project (WCW).

Good afternoon Lucille, Ernnburn, Stella, Tex, Wee, Czarina and Aus, if she comes in.
Tacos, Tamales and Coffee? I might just be motivated to celebrate Festivus.
Happy celebrations to all.

Hello Reflection! When I was a kid, my mother’s friend, Mrs. Schneider, made a box of German cookies for us every year. My dad was German, and he very much appreciated it (so did I).

Afternoon All. It is overcast and about 30* here right now. It is supposed to rain later this afternoon, but the temp is supposed to go up by then, so no snow likely.
Hope you have all your Christmas presents wrapped. And, enjoy the day.

Good afternoon, aus! We’re at 41 degrees and cloudy with no rain expected until tomorrow sometime. Life is so much easier without the inevitable rains and expected snow.
Though the Panhandle is beautiful and the people are great, I’d really love to live once again in what was once the glorious state of California with the southern California coastal areas having the absolute best weather. I can get real weepy thinking about what was stolen from us.
Take care!

He was so brave

Posted December 20, 2025 by @QuentinFlores
One of the commenters said: “His name is Cristian Marian Becheanu, he was 14 years old when this happened in 2013 and volunteered to do this to save 3 year old Gabriel Rulu after the Romanian emergency services attempted to save Gabriel for 11 hours. Kudos to this young man who lived by the ‘if it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be me’ mentality.”
Another commenter said that Cristian is married now with children of his own.
