I don’t understand this. This is my personal experience with FEMA in 2014 when our area experienced a record short-term rainfall, causing sewers to be overloaded and thousands of basements to flood. My basement had 2′ of mixed sewer and storm water, destroying my furnace, hot water heater, and much of my personal possessions.

FEMA sent an inspector to my home (he was from Florida!). He took photos and I received a check for $4,231.90 from the government. Yes, I applied on line, and the turnaround time was about a month.

I am completely convinced that the stories of keeping help out are true. we saw what they did in Hawaii.

I just went to Kamala’s page on Twitter. I say one person who had posted a kool aid type chart, thanking the administration, blah blah, but every single other one was fury. And I read a lot of it.

Is there any chance at all that they have taken a tiger by the tale with this one?

And I don’t care what anybody freaking says about Elon Musk, because of him, and almost nearly just him, we know what is happening in rural Appalachia.

Why the hell couldn’t this epic storm have washed away Washington D.C.?

  4. I have survived many Hurricanes and their damage……Ian was the worst for me, but the only one I actually “qualified” for FEMA assistance after. All other claims were flat denied with no appeal.

For Ian, big +60ft trees went down, taking all my fences with them. I had a massive food forest in my backyard, and Ian scoured it all away. Windows broken, Soffits torn away, the tonneau cover on my truck torn off and blown to who knows where….outdoor structures knocked down, etc.

For this FEMA gave me a piddling $750.

That won’t even cover half the Soffits…..

Since then a few other passing close brushes, and with each one my resolve hardens. I am BEYOND cold hard anger at how we are PISSED ON every damn time by the people who are supposed to be helping and looking out for us.

Oh and Samaritan’s Purse? Got shafted royally by them too after Ian. Local agencies tell me they are one of the worst, rolling in for the publicity and donation grabbing, and are gone before they do even half the assistance they promised.

Um, “local agencies”? It will take some convincing to make me believe that.

      • Local county and state gov’t agencies. The other churches will say so too, but they’re in competition so…..

I tried to nail Sam’s Purse down about their “promised” help, they lied thru their teeth – told me i had called and said I no longer needed help (I’m deaf, I don’t call” anyone about important issues) and blew me off, refusing to communicate further.

Meanwhile I sit here still with downed trees and fences pinned under them. My brother helped me board up the windows at least….
