It’s a video of “The Eagle Has Landed.”

Evidently, my BIL (then in his mid-teens) put up a tremendous fuss when ‘Dad’ made them go to Church instead of staying home to watch on TV. BIL forsook religion once he entered the college culture and only now – approaching 70 – has he begun attending services again. Still a bit of an indoctrinated dummy, tho! They rarely admit they were wrong.

I honestly don’t remember whether I saw the landing live or in re-run the same day, but I did see it at some point.
Your brother-in-law’s story reminds me that when I was in high school I got hooked on MAVERICK starring James Garner which aired on Sunday nights. I had a cold and stayed home from church one Sunday, only to discover the series in the evening. After going to both Sunday morning and evening church services plus Wednesday night Bible Study since age 5, I convinced my folks to let me stay home from Sunday evening services but didn’t tell them it was so I could watch Garner. He starred for the first 3 years of the 5 it was aired, but he quit after 3. Little did I know then, of course, that in the 1970s I would work with him on THE ROCKFORD FILES.

Betcha he was the heartthrob of many a teenage girl! Actually got to see him in person at the Crosby Golf Tourney in the late 70’s; I think he was teamed up with Willy Mays. Seems like he would have been good to work with…but tough at the same time.

He was fairly well down-to-earth for a famous person and had a great sense of humor. Cast parties were always a lot of fun.
The people surrounding him were very loyal to and protective of him, as he was toward them. The same stand-in and stunt coordinator were with him for much of his career. His talent agent became his producer on THE ROCKFORD FILES. They both were big time liberals, but then so was I at the time and didn’t think anything of it. No one was dismissed because they were Republicans, however, unlike today.
He also was generous to his crew and support staff (include me in the latter). One year for Christmas he gave everyone jackets with a Rockford logo. Mine was way too big but I didn’t want to return it. Even with my name on the front, my Dad wore it for years. LOL! Another year he gave everyone bronze belt buckles with the series name emblazoned across a TV camera. Unknown to him, all the recipients chipped in and bought him the same only in silver, 14K gold and diamonds. He really loved it.
A perfectionist, people around him were expected to do their jobs and do them well. I liked him as a person and never heard him get mad or treat anyone disrespectfully on the set, though I certainly wasn’t on set every day. In the film industry there’s a saying when things run smoothly because of the lead actor’s professionalism–“He runs a happy set.” He was always a sweetheart to me.
It was a joke among everyone, though, that you had to think twice before accepting an invitation to play golf with him. He could be really hard on himself and possessed quite a temper when playing his favorite sport. His brother was a golf pro and told me he found it somewhat trying to play rounds with him on occasion. Hahaha!
Lots of really fun memories.

My friend’s uncle, who lived with her family, refused to believe there were people who went to and walked in the moon, til the day he died. Said it was just a program on TV.

You can never convince those people either. Bill Whittle did a great job trying, but I’m sure he didn’t convince them.

Yep, black and white telly. Surprised it has no rabbit ears! Is that a bottle of Drambuie in the top right corner? A month later we were treated to Woodstock! My last year as a teeny bopper! Those were the good ol’ days, no?

Exactly what I said. I was just shy of 10, and we were in K-Mart in Kokomo, IN.

So I was a Sears manager, and as such we were sent to help open new stores. This one happened to be in Middletown, NY – population IIRC about 26,000. On Thursday, a local that was hired to haul tandem (shelving) said there was a huge party going on just up the road. He said must have been 100,000 people. I was very skeptical as Middletown only had a population a quarter of that. So, raining like the devil, my colleagues (about 5 as I recall) set out the check out this party. We had to park about 3 miles away, and walk into this party, which turned out to be Woodstock. And there were a lot more than 100,000 attending, even on Thursday night. IIRC, John Sebastian was singing “She’s a Lady” when we arrived, Wet and muddy; unforgettable, even though we only stayed that evening. But, we had a store to open!

The last year for the true blue muscle car! In ’70 the emissions came into play. Oh the memories! The 1969 Mustang 428 C.I. was my dream car.

I owned a ’70 Barracuda. in was only a 318, but wow did it look sharp in style. The lines in that ’69 Mustang just appealed to me. I couldn’t afford one (428) though.

Good morning, WeeWeed! Yes, I knew but simply because I worked for a television production company for a couple of years which always had flowers on the set. There was a point at which they changed from traditional flower arrangements to the more “modern” where they incorporated cabbage and artichokes plus other out-of-the-ordinary blooms.
I don’t mind it particularly but it is sort of like sitting among a vegetable patch.

Yes and yes and yes! For government to WANT their people to “feel the pain” means they hate the people. The Left has always hated us. They were just a little more quiet about it in the past. Now they are out in the open for all to see if they CHOOSE to see.
The indoctrination Americans have endured for decades makes it difficult for many to choose properly. Even those who have worked toward their prosperity and to keep their freedoms have been affected. But once a person recognizes that elected Dems want American to fail and want us in poverty and dependent upon THEM not ourselves, it’s impossible to unrecognized it.
Why the Constitution Maddens the Left
By Rob Schwarzwalder – July 19, 2022
Recently, I saw a bumper sticker that read, “The Constitution: Frustrating Liberals Since 1789.” This is a humorous witticism, but it carries the ring of truth.

If he would talk like this again, he will win in a landslide. While I believe he got cheated, I think to get reelected, he needs to go back being Presidential. Nobody likes a whiner. We got screwed. We lost, scroo it. Let’s take back what’s rightfully ours.

I’m afraid the Left WILL NOT permit a retake of the POTUS by Trump again! My prayers are God shall overcome all obstacles! I gotta believe there are more of us, than them! Evil cannot be permitted to destroy our freedom! Amazing how a few days before the military was sent to DC, Pelosi declined Trump’s attempt to do the same! The Left is being exposed for what it really is!

Mornin’ All. The weather here now is sort of like Florida in the Winter. And, I can’t believe how hot the sun is. I don’t have sunglasses so I wear a wide brimmed hat any time I go outside. Of course, that is normal for me. I keep several, with one in the car. Still unpacking. So, got to get back to it. Hope you all have pleasant weather and enjoy the day.

And with the monstrously huge military and the people not allowed to arm themselves, they will have no recourse other than obey or death. Take heed, Americans!
