Mornin’, Miss Wee. Help yourself. I just magically decided to wake up at 3:00 this morning. At least I’ve got a running start before my shower and onto the work computer.

I hate it when that happens……

My manic wake up time is 2 AM. Sometimes I can go back to sleep and sometimes I wind up reading.

I wake up at 3 something and sometimes have to read a boring refrigerator manual or pharmaceutical ad to go back to sleep. Lately I’ve been leaving the bed and sleeping in Czar’s recliner chair, which works well. Long time ago I paid bills when I woke up…

Saw this next door. Brain-Freeze Biden goes to the Wayback Machine to “explain” the supply-chain issues. It’s………..kinda like looking for Cabbage Patch dolls in the 80’s. Not everyone could find one. What an embarrassment.

Well, she deserves to run after she was cheated out of it the last time by the people not voting for her. 🙄

Mornin’ sportsfans! Palindromes!

We can’t have anymore of these until the next century, I think. Unless we move to Europe where they do their dates real weird.

If you ask me, the only ones that are true palindromes are 12/11/21, and 12/22/21. The rest have a zero in the first “day” position.

Morning all. Just spent a few minutes trying to find my congressman’s email address. Strangely enough, every listing I could find, including his own website, lists his D.C. phone number only, no email. So I called. Guess they don’t come in at 8.
Anyhow, I expressed my displeasure at his vote for the vaccination record and informed them I was writing an article for the Treehouse and I’d like his comments. I expect no reply.

Mornin’ All. Cool and sunny here. No rain in sight. Not expecting any rain………..or hurricanes. I went to the dr. yesterday and got an antibiotic. I knew that is what he would do. But, I made the mistake of reading the paper that came with it. Very scary. I waited to take the first one until this morning because I wanted to be awake if I started having any reactions. Anyway, I figure I will probably survive. I was planning to get tested for my penicillin allergy back when all this covid started. Guess I will have to try again. Anyway, hope for nice days for you all. The weather guessers seem to think temps will be higher than usual pretty much everywhere.

Mornin’ mom! I wonder if I’m still allergic to penicillin too. I don’t think they prescribe it much any more, since so many people are allergic.

My oldest son is allergic to penicillin and sulfa drugs. I don’t think the prescribe either of them much anymore, but I was told that many drugs are similar in composition and it is still necessary to be sure your doctor knows.
When my son had an adverse reaction to penicillin as a baby, the doctor prescribed it again next visit. I caught it at the pharmacy of course. Same thing happened to me on my last visit to my doctor. Not an allergy, but she gave me a prescription I should not be taking due to another problem, one she diagnosed.
With electronic charts and computers keeping up with everything, I wonder why they don’t kick out things like that. It seems like it would be easy to program. Or at least there would be some priority notes for the doc to read every time they open your chart.
They won’t give you pain meds unless you have every bone in your body broken almost, but they sure do mess up on life threatening drug combos or allergic reactions.

Pharmacy programs do just that, so if you use the same pharmacy and they have it in their records, they should not dispense it. However….. you still need to look out for yourself and your loved ones.
I developed a penicillin reaction in my 30’s: started as a fine rash on my feet and ankles, doctor prescribed a low dose of Ativan, which put me to sleep for 18 hours. One time several years later I took it before a root canal (dentists frequently use it) and I started itching all over. Looked at myself in the mirror and I was covered in hives!!! Dentist said stop the pills, take Benadryl. Then he prescribed erythromycin, which severely upsets my stomach. Now they give me doxycycline or cipro. And I always take probiotics or yogurt to replace what good bacteria is killed off.
Nice thing about hives is all my actinic keratosis dry up and fall off!

My friend just told me she. is allergic to Cipro. She took 10 days of it and her body ended up covered in hives.

I had an adverse reaction as a baby, just like your son. Hives.
My sister, however, was given a penicillin injection in her doctor’s office, and she went into immediate anaphylactic shock. The doctor gave her an adrenaline injection into her heart (according to my mother, who was there, and is the same thing as epinephrine.) She was pregnant at the time, and it was very scary.
I am also allergic to the dye they use for x-rays. My eyes swelled shut and I was itching all over. They gave me Benadryl for that.

I should probably mention that my sister’s experience was in the 1950’s.

Penicillin and sulfa drugs are still commonly prescribed in many places, and are effective choices for certain infections. The trick about allergies is that one can become allergic to something (foods, medications) at any point in one’s life, even after years of consuming that thing without problem. And a mild allergic reaction (itching, rash) at one exposure can become full-on anaphylaxis at the next exposure. In this age of computers, mistakes should not happen, but they do. Every patient (or parent) needs to keep a list of anything that has caused a reaction and inform the prescriber before leaving the visit.

My allergies are listed in my medical record. One good thing about computers is that I can view my info on line.
