Lovely pictures, and very informative. Who would have thought – a volcano in France, and beautiful scenes in NJ…but I’m being bad. I heard there are many rural areas in NJ. Just like nobody thinks of Mass. as rural, but in some places you can drive for quite a distance and barely see anything but trees.
From https://www.state.nj.us/nj/about/facts/nickname/
“Origins of the Nickname
Abraham Browning of Camden is given credit for giving New Jersey the nickname the Garden State. According to Alfred Heston’s 1926 two-volume book Jersey Waggon Jaunts, Browning called New Jersey the Garden State while speaking at the Philadelphia Centennial exhibition on New Jersey Day (August 24, 1876).
Browning said that our Garden State is an immense barrel, filled with good things to eat and open at both ends, with Pennsylvanians grabbing from one end and New Yorkers from the other. The name stuck ever since.
However, Benjamin Franklin is credited with a similar comparison of New Jersey to a barrel tapped at both ends. Some have used that to discredit Browning with naming the Garden State.
In 1954, the state legislature passed a bill to have “The Garden State” added to license plates. Before signing the bill into law, Governor Robert Meyner investigated the origins of the nickname and found “no official recognition of the slogan Garden State as an identification of the state of New Jersey.” He added, “I do not believe that the average citizen of New Jersey regards his state as more peculiarly identifiable with gardening for farming than any of its other industries or occupations.” Governor Meyner vetoed the bill, but the legislature overrode the veto. The slogan was added to license plates soon after.”

In our third day of perfect fall weather here! Predicted to remain coolish and dry thru most of next week. October is the southern Louisiana-Mississippi dry season. A couple of years ago we went 7 weeks without a drop of rain. And there are no hurricanes aimed at us for the near future.

Mornin’ Wee
Thing is, I wouldn’t even notice someone talking to me too early in the morning! 😄 Maybe I could just wave the cup around in their direction at the babbling noise.

Mornin’ All. Weather is really nice this morning. I stopped and talked to a couple of people on our walk this morning and I am just getting to breakfast. One of those neighbors warned me to be careful because there is a guy selling drugs across the street from me in the carport. He says the guy is getting quite brazen and doing it right out in the open now. I will have to be careful because I let Loki out before we go to bed and it is usually around 11:00 PM. I hate drugs. I don’t even like watching shows about drugs. Hope you all have a nice Friday.

Have you ever considered moving?
Do you have a back door and long leash to let Loki out and still hold onto him while being out of site of the drug dealing “neighbor”?

Good idea. I have a long reel leash that I use with Tucker, particularly at night. I can sit inside on the steps from the kitchen to the landing, and he has 26 feet of tape! Particularly nice when it is raining.

Yes. That is how I let her out that late at night. She only pees a little bit, so I don’t mind her going right off the stoop. What worries me a little is the door swings outward and if somebody grabbed it, I would have no way to pull it back closed. Actually, this is a pretty safe place to live. I don’t think this drug dealer will last much longer. I think I will talk to the guards I am friendly with (they say they are not really guards, just gate people, LOL) and hopefully they will notice what is going on. They drive by every so often checking on things. Maybe I will see if I can find out when they are coming by and take her out when they come by.

Has anyone reported the drug dealer to the police? Seems obvious.

Morning All! I’m here bright & “early” 😉
Today’s painting just happens to go with Lucille’s fence Friday. This is “Hide & Seek” by Stanhope Forbe’s 1st wife, the talented artist Elizabeth Adela Stanhope Forbes. Sadly she died from cancer in 1912, but left many heartwarming and lovely paintings to enjoy and remember her by. She also painted in a slightly different style, which I think I may actually like more. I’ll post that in future pics.
Have a great day everyone! ☺

For this of you who have young kids, protect them, know all you can about what they are being exposed too. If you follow the post to the end, you see the disgusting response from school board members who see offering this pedophelia porn as defending the rights of the LGQTB whatever letter is next crowd.
Warning, very graphic content from the books shown on the video.which it damned well should have been.
