Good morning everyone, beautiful pic (as always). It just makes my desire to escape this state (New Jersey) stronger, nobody in my immediate circle understands just how happy I would be living rural, fixing farm equip and anything else my neighbors needed. I’m not a tech guy, I’ve always been a people person, unfortunately here the “people” have their faces glued to a screen and the only time they speak is when they perceive you as being in their way. But there is always hope I land in a square state upon retirement.

Good morning, Gary! Move west. Idaho is beautiful as is Wyoming, both Republican states…and if you like snow, you’ll have plenty, though so far this year we’ve been hit lightly in the Idaho Panhandle. Right now it’s 40 degrees and the sun is shining brightly.
These are two live camera feeds I check often just for a break from politics and the annoyance it can bring…

Good afternoon, aus! Hopefully you’ll have a mild increase into summer and not have it shoot up all at once.
How well I remember going into The Valley section of Greater Los Angeles (of “Valley Girl” fame) and stepping out of the car to be smacked in the face with 110-15 degree heat…take your breath away!

Interesting little aside regarding the Saudi student that shot up a Pensacola NAS classroom and killed those Navy personnel. Seems that foreign military used a ‘loophole’ that allowed military holders of state hunting and fishing licences who were not state residents to buy firearms. Resident aliens in the US can buy weapons and as the Saudis were here on military duty with visas they were considered resident aliens.
Seems there were no limitations of foreign resident aliens buying firearms here and the DoD was not about to irritate the foreign troops by stepping in and cutting off the Saudi shooter’s access to firearms through blocking the loopholes. Now as US military, unless on official duty requiring them to do so, are not allowed to carry weapons on base and if they live on base they must have them stored in an armory. Now the Saudis may have been living off base but even then why is the Department of the Navy saying they won’t be allowed to carry them on base? It may just be a linguistic thing but DoN is usually more careful about its wording.
Left unstated is ‘what about the Departments of the Air Force and Army’? Do they already have ‘on-base weapons policies’ for foreign troops or will they be forthcoming after the work out the PC elements? They don’t have the same sense of urgency as Navy does since they haven’t had foreign trainees killing US military on the bases playing home to them. Then again DC could just solve this whole embarrassing episode by just using their allowing foreigners to buy guns here by banning ALL gun sales – no guns, no problems.

Sigh…another case of ‘you pushada button too soonah’. Just mentally edit the ‘by just using their allowing foreigners to buy guns here’ outta that last sentence. Not enuff coffee.

Holy cow! We went to see Call of the Wild today. This is a little town and a little theater. It has some small theaters in it. Anyway, there was a long line at the ticket counter, which we have never seen before, and they were all going to (as they put it) “the dog movie”. LOL They had to move it from one of the smaller theaters into a large one and it was very crowded. There were few empty seats. This is in the middle of the afternoon.
The movie was great. It was so much fun, exciting, beautiful, and well done. I was told all the animals were CGI. I had to remind myself of that because it was easy to forget. The story is very good and well done. The scenery was spectacular and well filmed. I enjoyed the whole movie so much. I would recommend you all run right out and see it soon. I would sit through it again right now.
