Cloudy and cold here. 25° . Salt/Plow was around a lot, more than with just a snow storm. I was out for maybe two hours yesterday, maybe 15 of that spent on the road, saw one car driving too quickly for conditions, hit a curb and the cat’s tire popped right off, I’m sure he broke his tie rod.

Really great thinking!
I liken the whole mess to a corporation whose Chairman and CEO is being told by two medium level employees that she should continue to pay them until they find jobs more to their inclinations. However, they won’t work on her agenda or according to her rules in the meantime…except a couple of items they agree with.
These two threw down the progressive/leftist gauntlet. And now they get to have their cake and claim victimhood and racist attitudes, too. Be interesting to see how Queen Elizabeth solves this dilemma.

As neither has a shot at the throne and will have money, why not meet the voracious appetite of the Hollyork personality and the Royal Ego by turning their backs on the monarchy and embracing the media and paparazzi? They’ll get the spotlight wherever they go, a latter day Edward the 8th and Wallis Simpson, updated for the modern narrative.
Then again it’s probably best before someone releases the DNA test results on Harry. What, you don’t believe the Palace hasn’t surreptitiously done one?

Sure don’t resemble none of them royal dowdies. Diana brought anti-Prince Phillip genes into the pool. Note how Charles went right back to the preferred…what’s a polite term…oh forget it…Camilla pool.

Camilla is the one who told Charles to do his job and produce heirs for the throne. I am sure he would have dithered his life away as he diddled her.
The one thing I admire Camilla for is not appearing on a talk show or interviewed by a tabloid. She must have been offered millions.

That won’t happen, so you will continue to speculate. Personally, I’m not really interested, and it doesn’t matter since he will never be king. Anyway, the royal family is hardly pure. Princess of Wales Diana Spencer is a descendant of King Charles II (1630-1661) through his illigitimate son, the Duke of Grafton. The Duke’s mother, Barbara Villiers (1641-1709), was not only Charles’ mistress, but also mistress of John Churchill (1650-1722), Duke of Marlborough and another ancestor of Diana.

The Royal Family is more a living reality program to me, of no real interest other than an example of how desperately they cling to an antiquated and irrelevant lifestyle.
Little girls less frequently dream of growing up and marrying a prince – I think Charles helped with that -princes have been replaced heavily by bling encrusted rappers. Reality is killing the Royal reality program.
To me the main difference between the Royal Family’s antics and the antics of the Project Family down in the city is the amount of extravagance and press coverage of the former.

Once when Prince William was a baby, at a family gathering, one sister in law and I agreed that we really felt sorry for him, in that, luxurious, rich, and privileged though his life would be, it would also be devoid of so many choices we all have. Most of the family laughed at us.
I still feel that way. Even if I had the pedigree, that life is not one I would ever choose. I do not think the wealth would compensate for the life and people I’d have to endure.

I’m like you, I don’t really care, in the big picture. I have an opinion about how he and his wife have handled it, but it is unimportant. I don’t have a clue about Harry’s parentage, and I’d bet he damned sure would only be one of quite a few royals of a less legitimate bloodline.
There are some things about the aristocracy and royals that I admire. Their propensity for adultery is not one of them. Yes, perhaps a natural phenomena given how they mostly marry for reasons other than affection and love, but I don’t find it an appealing lifestyle.

I think the royal family plays an important role in UK’s diplomacy, and will continue to do so as long as the monarch remains publicly politically neutral. The queen has set the standard, but it remains to be seen if her son continues the trend. Probably good for the monarchy that Harry and his wife are leaving.

Stella,
The Queen invited Margaret Thatcher, as the Prime Minister, for tea several years ago. The Queen explained that she did not like the South African situation and that the UK ought to be doing things to end apartheid in South Africa. So Thatcher switches her position and gets the UK seeking to end Apartheid.
About a year ago, the Queen gave a speech about the number of Moslems immigrating to the UK that was not good for the country. A rare event and I believe by custom, the monarch only speaks about the most serious dangers possible.

My concern about Harry’s parentage is the same as any other kid,
My wife’s brother had a shock about a year ago. A woman called a family member and wanted to talk to this brother. The woman was 44 years old and was wondering who her father was. Her mother had just told her that the now divorced husband was not her father and wasn’t sure who was. The last time the brother talked to the mother was when she said she was pregnant and getting married next week. DNA was done and there was a match. If she was photographed with my wife and her sisters, she would have fit in. I thought she was the youngest of the 3 sisters after a quick look. He was not married at the time the kid was conceived.
She is married to a Canadian farmer and was not looking for anything. She just wanted to know.
The brother’s wife is crazy, said too much and the woman does not want to know here relatives.

If Edward VIII had remained king and not married Wallis or anyone else, when he died childless (apparently he was sterile) in 1972, who would have become the monarch? Men were preferred as monarch then; so did any of Edward’s brothers have sons that were still living? How about blaming Edward’s decision to abdicate for this whole 2020 sequence of events.

Interesting article, but I would like to know if any of you can confirm the accuracy of the author’s statements. A Facebook friend took exception with some of it. Here’s the article:
https://www.asiatimes.com/2020/01/opinion/iran-keeps-concocting-fake-news-on-downed-jet/
Iran continues to tell false and deliberately misleading stories about the downing of Ukrainian Airline’s Flight PS-752, including the story that a nervous missile operator “with only six seconds” to decide, mistakenly shot down the jet. Tehran says the operator thought he was shooting at a cruise missile.
Every modern air defense system consists of at least three parts: the missile firing unit that contains the air defense missiles; an acquisition radar that searches a broad area to provide early warning of threats; and, an engagement radar that acquires the target and helps guide the missile.
The Russian-made Tor, which is the system that US intelligence thinks was used to blow up PS-752, uses both types of radars. The system has a modern digital command and control system and an IFF (identification friend or foe) system all sitting on a tracked vehicle. The complete package is known as a TLAR, transporter, launcher and radar. Iran bought 21 Tor systems in 2007.
A radar operator cannot just push a button and launch a missile. It takes at least a full minute, sometimes a minute and a half or more, to ready the missile for firing. At a minimum, the target information has to be connected to one or more air defense missiles and the gyros of the missiles have to be spun up. The story that the operator had only six seconds is not credible. Even the more modern Pansir, S-300 and S-400 (all Russian built) require one to two minutes to get ready for launch.
Furthermore, a missile operator is not authorized to fire a missile unless he gets permission from his commander who usually is not physically located in the TLAR…
My FB “friend” says:
Somewhat not true, The system is self contained, if they were on alert, the missiles were already on, and it takes 8 seconds to launch.
He agrees there is something rotten here, however.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Let’s say that the Commander was the one who gave the order, we’ve been thinking of some nervous Nellie with his hand on the trigger but if it were the operator’s boss who pulled the trigger that’s still in the ‘nervous Nellie’ arena.
Once fired the missile is pretty much on its own though it can take commands from the ground, it has to punch through to the target in a potentially hostile anti-anti-aircraft missile environment so it can’t wait for the analog meat computer to make decisions. The system can track multiple targets simultaneously and relies heavily on computers to do the guidance, you don’t have anopersator in the van flying the missile to the target.
You can bet the missile crew was nervous, the brass had to be pumping them up about possible US retaliation and the importance of protecting the capital city from the Great Satan, and I’m sure they were also pushing, as we’ve so frequently done in the past, the US leading the attack with cruise missiles to take out targets such as air defense. It’s normal to try and convince the air defense units that they’re a prime target, keeps them on their toes.
We are also talking crews who aren’t generally of the same caliber that US crews are. They are also firing missile systems built by another culture. To me the system coming from another culture and the crews coming from a less mechanical background figures in on their masking the bad judgement to fire. I’m also betting that, being unfamiliar with the scenario, the control tower at Khomeini didn’t coordinate with a central baghdad air defence center – if they even had one – about aircraft scheduled to take off and land. You have an air defense crew hopped upon paranoia of a retaliatory attack, no one at a central command informing ADA crews about commercial flight schedules and you have a disaster in the making.
I would like to know if the airliner had its IFF transponder on and if the ADA systems were updated on the codes or if they even had their IFF ID system on. I’d predicted within minutes of the shootdown that it was a missile and the systems that would pinpoint it. That was no big deal, I know where the system was looking and what it could pickup but I thought it was some hump with a Strella as that made more sense. A Thor system shootdown means a screwup at a higher level and I believe part of Iran’s tap dancing is their embarrassment at having such a high-level system go awry.
LikeLiked by 2 people
‘an operator’ vice ‘anopersator’.
The airliner was also a huge, lumbering sitting-duck target not all that far away in the engagement envelope so I’m doubting there was even enough time for the crew to destruct the missile before it hit if they did recognize the mistake.

Having lived through the last 4 years, I am inclined to believe that the downing of the plane was planned to blame it on the U.S. when we responded to their attack. Oops. Trump didn’t respond.

zan’t rule that out, nor can we rule out that it was done by Iran as a message to their problematic relationship with the Ukraine but I can’t see them killing 176 people to do so. Too big of a no-no for even them.
They had to know our DSP system would pick up the missile launch, if not other systems that would have picked up the associated Thor radar emissions. They should have also realized that the subsequent aircraft explosion would have been picked up by the same systems and it wouldn’t take long to put 2 and 2 together. I think this was one major ‘
oh Shiite!’ moment.

This is what I call Islamic Gratitude.
That Infidel help Iran received humiliated the Moslems. The fact they needed Infidel help is humiliating and therefore they resent it. They must restore their2 honor.
The occasion of Islamic Gratitude occurred two years after they chased Mohammad out of Mecca. The Meccans would have gotten Mohammad had not the 3 Jewish tribes saved his sorry ass. That humiliated Mo and 2 years later he slaughtered the 1st of the 3 tribes.

It seems like the Moslems are always ready to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
After the Afghans forced the Soviets out of Afghanistan with our help they turned on us. The leader wanted to follow the Soviets and free their Moslem brothers in the Soviet Union. Osama bin Laden wanted to attack the US, so he kills his mentor, takes over the terrorists and forms Al Qaeda.
Barak of Israel had agreed to 99% of Arafat’s demand when Clinton had them together to make peace. Arafat starts the 2d Infatata.

Yup, the Russian were too weak to mount a foreign power push right on their own borders. If Putin hadn’t have just bombed Grozny into a rubble pile instead of just continuing years of fruitless ground fighting they’d have lost there too. The usual modern Islamic inability to get their Shiite together prevented them from capitalizing on Russia’s retreat and gaining a lot of new territory that might well have meant serious troubles for the West.
The various Moslem peoples aren’t united by religion as much as they’re divided by tribalism. Moslems aren’t anymore united by Isl;am than modern Europeans are Catholicism or Protestantism but attack either Moslems or Europeans as an outside source and their tribalism/nationalism will unite them. Look at how the Moslem groups split and went after each other after the Russians left, it looked like a modern version of the Sykes-Picot with the various Moslem groups running around like scalded apes.

” It takes at least a full minute, sometimes a minute and a half or more, to ready the missile for firing” Yes, but the system most likely would have been on ‘hot’ and ready for a battlefield launch as I’m sure they were expecting a cruise missile attack. They were ready to launch and someone jumped the gun. I’m betting one team is trying to spin this while another is serving up the butt of a battery commander. I’d love to see the civilian and mullah government teams discussing this.

I tend to agree with this, all of it. I sent it to a couple of friends to get another opinion.
The is something about this whole thing that bothers me.
1. The airliner should have been a pre-set path to the airport.
2. Are we to believe that Iran accidentally set up missiles that cross the path of an incoming passenger liner?
3. The air traffic controllers had no knowledge of the missile launches, didn’t anything show up on their radar?

Exactly, it would have shown the attempt to frame Trump. If that happened in the real world, the case would be dismissed because of activities by the police.

As I said, child abuse.
I saw a brief something or other with Greta and when she must speak impromptu she appears to be of less than average intelligence.

I would expect that to be the situation. I do know she is not writing her own speeches.

Iran’s security forces using live fire to shoot protestors.
Never ever let them take your guns. Ever.

Lovely,
What Guns?
Who Has Guns?
I Don’t See Any Guns?
Should anyone be interested in purchasing any of those things; I recommend estate sales, in which you know they had been bought from a licensed dealer, the last thing you want is a gun linked to the JFK assassination or some such unsolved crime.
use cash for these purchases. Buying ammo, use cash.

I agree with your tips.

Reports are now coming out that yet another Shiite leader, Taleb Abbas Ali al-Saedi, commander of the Karbala Brigades, a Shiite pro-Iranian group in the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Front (PMF), has been assassinated by ‘unknown gunmen’.
We had Soleimani killed alongside Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Shia vice-commander of the PMF. A day later another airstrike by an ‘unknown source’ on a PMF convoy whacked some more Shia PMF principals. As I said on the night Soleimani was popped, it sure looks like house cleaning before the Shia units in the PMF can interfere with the upcoming elections and mess with US interests.

A friend just sent this series of posts from “Rex” regarding the recent WaPo piece that Huber turned up nothing on the Clinton Foundation.

1. Gaslighters, blowhards and idiots who say they’re pro-Trump, continue to push Devlin Barrett’s FakeNews. Again, Huber was NOT tasked to conduct an investigation into Clinton or the Clinton Foundation. He was tasked to REVIEW issues raised by Congressman Goodlatte and then TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS to the AG and DAG.
You can see the letter at page 24. Read it carefully.

2. IMO, Huber almost certainly recommended that DOJ start criminal investigations into the CF, as well as the FBI cover-up of her email scandal. Why? Because it’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that BOTH are as dodgy as hell. I worked it out just by researching on the internet. It’s probably being conducted by Durham, but it could be another prosecutor. Or both. And it’s being kept under wraps. For good reason.

3. If you want to believe trash and fiction peddled by a corrupt Clinton FakeNews inkshitter and the Hannity Posse, be my guest. Barrett’s drivel is linked below. It’s the most ridiculous piece he has ever written -and that’s saying something. As for me? From the start, I’ve said Trump means to takedown the Clinton Crime Family. The Republic can’t be restored without it happening. Plus, REVENGE. I was 100% certain on Nov 8, 2016. And today, too. #MAGA
The end.

Our favorite Sunday columnist throws down a Wizard of Oz reference in her column today. She talks extensively about a Caroline Glick piece.

Kurt Schlichter’s excellent-as-usual column for tomorrow…
Democrats Always Choose America’s Enemies Over America
Here’s an idea that our Democrat politician friends might want to try if they want to stop being back-stabbing garbage people. It’s kind of a radical notion and a little outside the box, but here goes: How about, just once, you stop sucking-up to the foreign bastards who are attacking our country and take America’s side?
