Good morning, Aus! It’s supposed to be snowing already, but nada.
Snow, snow, go
go because we know
it’ll show frozen streams
won’t flow
So go!
(Poem by Lucille for Aus, this Eighth Day of January, Two Thousand Twenty)

We got a little snow overnight (and cold), but really just a dusting.

Thank you. Very cute. 🙂 Oh, and no snow here. But, it is chilly in the mornings.

We got about 4″ yesterday Lucille.
Today it’s gray and overcast but warm enough that some of yesterdays snowfall is melting.
More snow in the forecast for tonight.

It is mighty breezy out. Usually I put a wool scarf and hat on when I go out to get the mail or throw the trash in the bin. Today I did the silk scarf/wool hat bit and regretted the decision. Felt like I had nothing on the head at all.
When I’m bundled up properly, I like the crispy air and the scenery showing our hills still dusted with white powder. Well, we’ve got at least three months coming up to see enough white to stick in our memories until winter 2021.

Speaking of ‘breezy’..Over the weekend wind warnings were issued. We had about 16 hours of continuous 60 mph winds with gusts of up to 75 mph.
I walked to the post office in the morning bundled in my hooded Parka (standard attire for me once the temp falls below 60)..the temperature was brisk, but the wind was atrocious. On my way back up the hill it was one step forward, five steps back.
By the afternoon, I was watching the sheet metal on the abandoned garage across the street peel off and go soaring into the sky like a little kids kite and by evening, I was once again thinking of the early settlers on the prairie who went stark raving bonkers from the wind.. I am happy to say that the bank came through unscathed and the tin headliners stood fast.
I’ll take a snow storm over winds like that any ol’ day of the week.
Only three more months? WooHoo :0)

Mornin’ Lovely. 😀 I really like the styles at this period. They were feminine but simple, too.

Since there seems to be a population growth problem of citizens in America, my family has decided to do something about it. My DIL is preggers again. 😀 And, of course, the whole family is over the moon.

Awesome news, congratulations to all of you. When is the baby due? And will she choose to find out if she’s having a boy or girl? I’m so happy for you!

Well, she isn’t due until Fall. She is only about 6 weeks. I know people like to wait for a while to share the news, but she probably knew my son would have a problem keeping it to himself. LOL He is so excited. They didn’t find out what the first two were until they were born and I am sure they won’t with this one, either. They are pretty old fashioned.
A funny thing is, when they first married, they talked about wanting 8 or 10. After she had the first one, I asked her about it, and she said they were rethinking that. LOL

How fun, Aus! You told them, of course, that they were doing their bit to save the nation. LOL!
If you’ve never read it, Mark Steyn’s book “America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It” which he wrote in 2006 is terrific re the potential of demographics destroying Western Civilization.

Very interesting. This guy recommends Walmart stock, and you’ll see why when you read this.
Walmart Has Made A Genius Move To Beat Amazon
In last year’s talk at the South by Southwest conference, Walmart’s former Chief Technology Officer Jeremy King revealed how Walmart is leveraging its physical footprint to charge ahead of Amazon.
It turns out Walmart is using its physical stores as warehouses for online sales. Since stores are already turning a profit from grocery sales, maintaining extra warehouse space adds little to costs.
That means Walmart will soon have the biggest and most effective “shipping network” in America. By the end of the year, Walmart plans to deliver stuff from 1,600 stores. For comparison, Amazon has only 110 warehouses across the US.
Most important, Walmart will pull this off at relatively little cost.

Wow. This is really interesting. It seems to make a lot of sense. I think their grocery delivery to the car has been very successful, or at least, seems to be here. Our local Walmart is a training one for the grocery delivery. They expanded it to other Walmarts after a while. Wish I had money to invest.

Walmart is making ordering more attractive and their online ads are increasingly enticing. I order from them every week and don’t pay shipping ever. Buy more than $35 worth and it’s free.
The only advice I’d give them is to teach their personnel how to pack better. Some boxes come tightly packed so that nothing moves, and all is well. Others arrive all jumbled. It might look OK when leaving Shipping, but the delivery companies love to throw boxes around and that needs to be taken into consideration.
Incidentally, I’ve found that OnTrac is the best shipper for fast delivery with boxes clean when delivered (unlike FedEx and UPS which need to clean their truck interiors much more often…if they do it at all). Unfortunately, OnTrac isn’t a national delivery company.
