        Likely she was seriously miffed that she was not chosen to be DNI immediately as I imagine Coats made that recommendation. And when she discovered she was not top of the list, she just quit.

        We dodged a bullet seeing as she was the Dem Deep State fav.

    Okay, if I”m a bad person, please advise and let me know how I should think about these things. I saw an article today about how an Iragi Chaldean Catholic who was a diabetic and (allegedly) mentally ill who was deported back to Iraq. He had apparently never become an American citizen after his family immigrated and he got a criminal record by committing a B&E and stealing things from a neighbor’s garage. He was one of those folks who couldn’t function in the country they’d immigrated from, having grown up in America, and died for lack of insulin over there, which admittedly, would be a horrible way to go. But the weeping and gnashing of teeth over it rubs my fur backwards and I don’t know why.

    We probably have people in this country with bigger criminal records that need to be deported, but I don’t know: I wasn’t the one victimized in this case. Also, why did this person never become a citizen? If they have been in this country since they were a child they had plenty of time to do so. If you’re only here to work for a couple of years, I get you wouldn’t, but if you’re going to live somewhere permantly, maybe that should be something you work on is becoming a citizen?

    And people think this is a tragedy, maybe it is, but this country pre-Kennedy used to turn people away anytime they were sick, so I don’t understand this. I want to say it was Michael Savage (don’t remember exactly which radio commentator) who had an Aunt turned away from the US when she tried to immigrate because she had tuberculosis and she got sent back to Poland, during WWII, after the Germans had taken the place over. (Oh, and she was a Jew, so no points for guessing how that story ended.)

    I don’t know how I should feel about this. And I don’t like that.

    (Maybe what it boils down too is that if I didn’t always have to hear the weeping and gnashing of teeth over illegal immigrants I’d have more empathy to spare for cases like this involving LEGAL immigrants instead of always being worn down by stories of lawbreakers who contribute nothing and take whatever they can get from America.)

      I certainly can sympathize with your anguish over this. I have often had the same feelings about a story like this. This story is certainly disturbing. But, consider this, we don’t really know what the truth about this person is. Mentally ill? A diabetic? Why didn’t he become a citizen? If he had, even with the B&E he wouldn’t have been deported. I don’t know where you got the information about the story, and it may have been embellished.

      My sister, who lived in Canada for almost 40 years and was a liberal, got really upset about a FL muslim woman who could not get her driver license picture taken with her veil over her face. My sister said it was a shame that she came from muslim country where she couldn’t even drive and was being denied here. 😕 Well, I did some checking and this was not an immigrant. She was a local woman who professed to become a muslim so she could wear a veil so she wouldn’t be recognized since she had been accused and maybe prosecuted for abusing children and didn’t want anybody to recognize her. Everything about the story was a ruse.

        IIRC, it was a msn.com story. But I dunno for certain. :/

        I just, I guess it feels like a “could have avoided this” plot. Why not become a citizen? If you came in legally and lived here your whole life, why not? And if you would rather be an Iraqi and so you decide you don’t want to be a US citizen, why come here in the first place?

        I don’t get.

      I used to be in a mental tug of war over stories like this but somewhere along the line I just stopped reacting with feelings. I just look at the reality, the facts, and with long-term illegals, I apply Occam’s Rule of the simplist reason being correct. If here for extended period of time and not try to become a citizen, they are anti-American, and loyal to another country which may be hostile toward our country. Thus, I conclude they are NOT here for individual liberty for themselves but part of “enemies from within”.

      I knew people from Dearborn that have been here thirty plus years and never became citizens and raised there American children to look to their home country. They raised their children to have the mission to go back to land the family still owned. When the children wanted to marry American citizens, it was a big problem because then they would not be able to inherit the land.

      So, maybe I have become a bad person. That is ok by me.
