    I’ve been watching gardening videos lately, and ran across this channel. This woman just exudes love (she adores goats and tomatoes and gardening in general), and I ran across this video this morning about her in particular:

    Yes, she has tattoos!

    Happy Thursday everyone! I keep posting the race map because it seems to me to be the easiest way to understand where things are in the race; but then I’m a “map-oriented” kind of person. If it’s not helpful, somebody tell me and I’ll stop.

    So the good news is that Aliy is still in the lead, and was the first musher into the ghost town of Iditarod which means she wins the Halfway Award–$3,000 worth of gold nuggets! Sweet! But as she said in the short video of her arrival, she’d rather win the All-The-Way award. The bad news is that her lead position is about to be overtaken.

    The two dominant teams in the race so far are Nicolas Petit, the 38-year-old Frenchman, and Joar (pronounced “Yar”) Ulsom, the 32-year-old Norweigan. All the sage pundits are saying that they are the teams to beat, and Aliy is the wild card, the one most likely to have a chance to do so. She started her 24 hour rest about 8 hours ago, so cannot leave Iditarod check point until around 2 am on Friday. Nic and Joar took their 24s back at Ophir and Takotna, have completed their time and are moving quickly; they are now about 4 hours behind Aliy. They will be many miles down the trail before she can leave.

    But weather is always a factor in this race. Winter storms are battering the coast of the Bering Sea where they are all headed and that can change everything.

    The battle between Nic and Joar is something of a grudge match from last year’s race. Joar won and Nic was second. But when they were some 200 miles from the finish last year, Nic was substantially in the lead and seemed uncatchable. But then he made a devastating mistake and took a wrong turn and lost the trail. He wasted over two hours before discovering the mistake and getting back on track. In the meantime, Joar passed him and the rest was history. Nic is totally fired up this year to make up for that. The question will be whether Aliy can bust those plans. Time will tell. Meanwhile, it’s kind of thumb-twiddling time until everyone finishes their 24.

    This article is sorta funny, knowing how many times I’ve simply thrown out the one piece of bread that was moldy and ate the rest…especially if it was one of my favorite nut breads from a bakery….

    Never Eat The ‘Clean’ Part Of Moldy Bread

    Today is National Cereal Day. My most recent favorite has been Grape Nuts, but I used to like Wheaties, then they changed the recipe or some ingredient cause it wasn’t good anymore. When I was a teenager Kellogg’s made one called Concentrate, which came in a smallish, gold box. They quit making it. I wrote them an email a few years ago asking for a return, but they said “no”.

      Grape Nuts was my mother’s favorite. My favs are anything made with oats and shredded wheat.

      I love grape nuts with yogurt, nuts, and dried or fresh berries. And shredded wheat which my mama taught me to eat by pouring boiling water over it and draining it all, then topping with lots of butter. My boys called that “different cereal” when they were little.

      As you know, we recently had one of those stretches where one really hard bad thing after another happened, including my old car slowly dying, which means we aren’t out of it entirely. It is tough when those things happen.

      I wonder how old this video is. I hope things have improved for her family and they have their van fixed. I watched her introductory YouTube video and pinned it. Hopefully someday I’ll be needing her gardening advice.

        The video is from last summer, I believe. Her recent videos are so sunny, that I believe she and her husband are able to soldier on despite adversity. That is what really impressed me. Her faith seems to be very strong.

        She has done some interesting and quite well done videos about other subjects, such as canning and raising chickens.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

In reporting the latest statistics from U.S. border officials, she confronted the Democrats’ no. 1 immigration myth head-on. “We face a crisis—a real, serious, and sustained crisis at our borders,” she said.

    The reason Democrats defend the status quo is not because they or anyone else believe that America’s broken immigration system is working. Indeed, the problem has only gotten worse since former President Obama himself called it a “humanitarian crisis” nearly five years ago.

    But acknowledging such a crisis exists today would make Democrats accountable for working with President Trump to help solve it.
