This post is strictly about the costs to the taxpayers to house, feed, and educate unaccompanied alien children. It is strictly for informational purposes.
I checked the HHS TAGGS database, and searched awards on the word “alien”, and got a list of awards for fiscal year 2018. It is possible to search for prior years, but for the purposes of this post, I will only cover the current year.

You can do searches of your own from this page, and sort the results by clicking at the top of the column you wish to sort by. I sorted by recipient.
The total for the Unaccompanied Alien Children Program, Number 93676, for fiscal year 2018 is $943,300,152. I saw an article in the New York Daily News that puts the cost over $1 billion. The Daily News explains that the $943 million doesn’t include at least another $129.5 million paid to the for-profit vendors who provide services such as transportation, security and health care at these shelters.
The biggest recipient by far is Southwest Key Programs Inc., with 2018 awards totaling $458,658,830.
I was interested in programs being run by churches, so I made note of those. Here is a list of those (the ones that I identified):

- Board of Child Care of the United Methodist Church – $6,299,728
- Catholic Charities, Miami and Galveston-Houston – $11,392,203
- Catholic Guardian Services – $7,487,349

- Jewish Child Care Association of New York – $2,036,320
- Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Service – $22,917,604
- Lutheran Social Services of Metropolitan New York – $4,987,744
- Lutheran Social Services of the South Inc – $19,469,490
- St. Peter St. Joseph Children’s Home – $6,895,707

I encourage you to do searches of your own. It’s quite enlightening. Search by the recipient to see other awards that they receive. I searched on the words “Catholic Charities” and found that they have other awards for Head Start, and Refugee & Entrant Assistance.
I am making no judgements here. Simply laying out the facts for you.

Well, somebody has to provide a safe environment for these kids once they are here. My thought is that if we had a good wall and border enforcement, we wouldn’t have so many kids to care for and the cost would go down accordingly.
I read that the CEO of Southwest Key makes more than a million dollars a year in salary.

That salary is unconscionable! Our tax dollars paying for a very high lifestyle of a “charity” administrator is just plain ugly.

When this started hitting the news in 2014 I found that it was around a million dollars a day for each of these centers…I put it out there yet it seems that it didn’t get put out there enough.
Can someone tell me why the H3LL we do this for Non-Americans, while virtually ignoring our own Americans in need & the countries failing infrastructure.

New Orleans City Council came out unanimously against President Trump’s zero tolerance policy. Immediately after that the news reported yet another church in NOLA coming out as a sancruary foir illegal aliens. That’s not new but it’s the first on in a while.
I’m for the Fedssaying: “OK, sanctuary cities, you wanna ignore the law? Fine – no Federal funds. Churches, you wanna ignore the law? Fine, there goes your tax exempt status!”.

I’m also of the opinion that tax exemptions should cease for properties owned by religious organizations aside from that upon which sits the church, temple, mosque, synagogue, rectory, monastery, convent, meeting house, pagoda, etc., plus day school K-12, and parking lots for these buildings. No free ride for apartment houses, office buildings, museums, downtown business parking lots, farms, welfare offices, or any other real estate, plus yachts, cruise lines, even local bird baths. Nada.

This is what is so sick–We have millions of our own that need help, our infrastructures are in really desperate need of repair and the list goes on. Yet we spend hundreds of billions on Non- Americans yearly that are actually criminals.
I can’t forget how these people in detention centers sued for more TVs, more electronics games, cell phone, computers and etc. Then there was the law suit that they said that they were getting Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches too many times a week for lunch(it was an average of 3 times a week).
Why are we doing this?
