    A third shooting before midnight, multipole victims, but as it was in the 9th Ward it was just considered Tuesday.

        One was downtown, one up on St Charles just about in front of Ann Rice’s old party house and the third way way up in the 9th Ward – the latter not being exactly tourist/Mardi Gras country. City’s saying that the first two were arguments between ‘young men’ and the surveillance video has not been released but bets are….

          Town I grew up in is a college town, not really big, but a lot of people. I ticked off a city board member one day by stating the obvious. It being a college town, over the past 5 years or so the college has been attracting a lot of government paid tuition blacks, Muslims and Hispanics(not for me to judge how many are legal….lol) and the city now is having shootings, rapes and knife attacks comparable to much larger cities.
          I’m sure you get the obvious I stated when she was dumbfounded what was happening to her town.

          So I’m sure your folks don’t want to state the obvious either. lol

            We don’t have to import problem children, we raise our own. That said, we’re a sanctuary city and the various churches are just importing potential problem children like they’ve done found a way to cook ’em.
            You dare walk into a NOLA City Council meeting and call NOLA a sanctuary city or point out the reality of who’s doing the overwhelming majority of violent crime in the city and you’ll probably get thrown down the stairs.
            BTW, the city’s first female mayor, from a very political family, hasn’t even been sworn in yet and she’s already embroiled in charges of misuse of government funds. Dat’s how we rollz.

              It makes me sad to see what the town is turning into. It was my stomping grounds as a teen back in the days when I wanted to go to town on the weekends. lol
              We went to a mid-semester graduation last year and the majority of the families were foreign and didn’t speak English.

    Here is today’s painting “The Marriage Proposal” by Frederic Soulacroix French 1858-1933, It even has big, beautiful windows! 😉

    Frederic Soulacroix was the son of the well-known painter and sculptor Charles J. Soulacroix. As a youngster he was given the opportunity to see much of Europe as his family moved frequently. At the age 15, Frederic entered the “Academia di Belle Arti” in Florence and in 1876, he was admitted to the “Scuola di Pittura”.
    An artist who enjoyed enormous success during his lifetime, his paintings were mainly for private customers coming from the US, England, Germany, South America and Canada. An exceptional observer, Soulacroix paid great attention to minute detail in his work. As his paintings exemplify, the artist captured the finest elements of texture, luster and reflection and rendered them with meticulous technique. The sheen of the damask wall-covering, the furnishings, the polished finish of the marble floor, and the life-like rendering of the sitters jewelry evoke thoughts of the richness of the Empire era.
    Frédéric is very often confused with his father Charles. Frédéric’s signature is however unmistakable: his works are always signed F.Soulacroix – generally in red.

    W/re to CNN’s efforts on behalf of North Korea: their self-selected audience is probably unaware of realities in North Korea, either past or present. An ignorant audience is not difficult to deceive.

    I went looking for information this morning regarding the current budget/spending resolution/appropriations under which tax money is spent in ever-increasing amounts-damn-the-consequences – and found this site:

    I saw a bit the other day saying that recent IRS income hit a new high but they can always spend more than is coming in so those new highs are meaningless.

    I do not give Mr. Trump endless benefitofthedoubt with regard to things that continue the same – including the stupidly excessive, braindead spending. Mr. Trump is not right about everything, with or without explanations by his supporters.

    Anyway – I thought that site look helpful and have saved it to my favorites.

    Happy Valentine’s Day – one of the days on which Grant and I entered into an excessive spirit of play (for Scandinavians). He would always buy a bag of those totally useless candy heart things that had little sayings on them and lay them around the house, GLUE THEM to handwritten notes!, save them for use in June or July, etc. And some time during the day would ask in a dead serious voice, “Will ya be my Valentine?”

    I saved many of those notes from over the years and have them now protected along with so many other amazing things. Four years ago now, in a couple of weeks, that he left. He loved me, and that changed me.

    Consider the latest entry in this ship of fools. We learn today from Lee Smith — who is actually doing some journalistic work, as opposed to the NYT, WaPo, and all the networks squared — of a fellow named Adam Waldman.

    A release last week of texts showed that Christopher Steele, the former British spy whose memos regarding the Trump campaign’s possible ties to Russia are referred to as the Steele dossier, reached out to Sen. Mark Warner, the ranking Democratic member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, through a Russian-linked Washington, D.C., lobbyist named Adam Waldman. Among Waldman’s clients is Oleg Deripaska, a Russian aluminum magnate with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a text dated Mar. 16, 2017, Waldman texted Warner, “Chris Steele asked me to call you.”

    In 2009, Waldman filed papers with the Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) registering himself as an agent for Deripaska in order to provide “legal advice on issues involving his U.S. visa as well as commercial transactions” at a retainer of $40,000 a month. In 2010, Waldman additionally registered as an agent for Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, “gathering information and providing advice and analysis as it relates to the U.S. policy towards the visa status of Oleg Deripaska,” including meetings with U.S. policymakers. Based on the information in his FARA filings, Waldman has received at least $2.36 million for his work with Deripaska.

    As the man said, “When they say it’s not about the money, it’s about the money.” But that’s not all we know of Waldman. He also has close ties to, wait for it, Cher. And his wife, a former girlfriend of George Hamilton’s before she left him for Waldman, is in the “blood as makeup” business. (I know — it sounds like a joke but it isn’t.)
