I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to share my wonderful experience at WalMart on the 1st. I had to go because I needed a few things that I can only get there and didn’t even think about it being the first.
People everywhere, little Mexican kids running around jabbering gibberish, morbidly obese on their motorized carts almost running over people, spending their monthly allowance on chips, cookies, snack cakes, candy bars and diet coke. I’m sorry and know it is not PC to say but seeing morbidly obese people driving around on carts with open bags of doritos and cheetos being shoveled into their mouths is really very disgusting to see, almost as bad as watching them shove Hostess powdered donuts into their mouths 4 or 5 at a time.
It was the first and WalMart had three checkers out of their twenty checkout lines and 4 self checkout lines open. So, I had to wait in line forever, getting hot under the collar watching all the people use their food stamp cards and seriously considering jerking up some Mexican kids and whipping their behinds who were running around knocking crap over and trying to grab stuff out of people’s baskets.
I did have to laugh though at a little boy in front of me, his mother btw paid with a debit card not a food stamp card, who had a woman in front of them who had a butt so wide that it was touching the candy shelves on one side and magazine and junk shelves on the other side. The next aisle over one was backing their motorized cart back with the “beep, beep, beep,” and the little boy says, “lookout she’s backing up.” The evil look she gave him and his mother, I don’t think it tickled her funny bone like mine, although his mother did give him a tongue lashing.
That was followed though by me getting ticked again when the black lady behind me started telling her daughter that she has a card to buy their food now, but that when she was a kid they had food stamps that were made out of paper just like money to buy their food with. That when she was grown she’d probably just have to get on the phone and order her food and they’d deliver it to her door.
Sure is nice that she plans on her kids continuing the culture of the rest of us buying their food.
A word of advice never go to WalMart on food stamp day if you want to keep your sanity.

When we travel for work we’ve gone to Wal-Mart if it’s nearby. They looked exactly the same (customers and all) in New Jersey and in California.
I was surprised to learn many brand name products on their shelves are made specifically to be sold at Wal-Mart only. You saw the target market.

I hate WalMart and only go when I have to because although I like being a country girl and like that the towns nearby are small, it also means not a lot of shopping choices and some things you can only find at WalMart unless you want to drive for an hour and half and then have to deal with all the city traffic and city people, which includes the thugs.
I wonder if all WalMarts have so many handicap spots? Our WalMart has 30 handicap spots. I don’t have a problem with it if they were being used by those who are really handicap, but 90% that I see parking in them get out and are able to walk just fine or are obese. It’s just never made sense to me, if you’re obese you should park out in the north forty so you can get some exercise. Something else I don’t understand is those morbidly obese folks will have a WalMart employee driving the carts out to them. Is their an app for that or do they just pull in and call and say, “bring me a cart?”
Something that does annoy me is I saw an elderly couple, the lady with a walker and the man with a cane, they very slowly and it looked like painfully walked into WalMart that day. There weren’t any carts available for them if they had wanted one and yet people who looked perfectly healthy and morbidly obese were riding around on carts.

I have worked retail for years. 90% of people who use those carts are simply too overweight to walk. It is a sad situation.
Once when I worked at Home Depot there was a man who must have been unbelievably big on one. The other manager who was there and told me the story said this guy had to have weighed 600-800 pounds. She said he just kind enveloped the cart when he sat on it. When he tried to get off, he was stuck because his body was wedged all around it. He and the cart fell over, associates were trying to pull it out of his body, and he was yelling obscenities and lawsuit talk while everyone looked on and no one really knew what to do. All they could do was get several people to yank on the cart until it came loose.

I’ve never understood how people get that big.
Like my husband’s cousin, it’s in her genes to be overweight, on her maternal side they all had trouble with their weight, but nobody was that big. She just keeps getting bigger and the bigger she gets the less mobile she gets and the more she eats.
I don’t understand it, why do they not want to eat less and at least be able to walk to their mailbox? I know with her she likes that disability check and all the free stuff that comes with it, but I just can’t see it being worth it to live like that.

I have a friend who is about 5′ tall and got up to 350 lbs. She has a lot of health problems that I don’t want to list, but that are real, one being Type 1 diabetes. She became more and more sedentary and depressed and gained and gained. One day she looked in the mirror and asked herself, “How did I let this happen.?” She went to Weight Watchers, started eating really well, took out a gym membership and started going religiously. Her health is improving, her mental health is improving. She has lost almost 100 lbs and I am really proud of her.

His cousin is 5’2″ and I’m not real sure how much she weighs, I just know that the last time she told anyone, she told my daughter that her doctor said she weighed 516 lbs and was going to die if she didn’t lose weight. He told her she had to start walking, start off walking around her yard, then walk down her driveway and keep going farther every day. She refuses to do that and she only looks bigger to me. She’s one of them, along with her mother who is always asking for money and stuff. My daughter and son-in-law bought her a shirt and pants and underwear once when she came down here because she spent the night and conveniently forgot to bring a change of clothes. My SIL about had a stroke because they didn’t know that WalMart charges $2 per X and she got 5X clothes. So what they thought was going to cost $20, cost double that.
Her or her mother though will never lose weight and aren’t shy about telling you if they lost weight then they couldn’t get disability.

Speaking of that, I will tell on my husband. I’ve told before about his cousins who are on disability, food stamps, free healthcare, get their utility bills paid for them and are royal pain in the rears.
The last time they came down here we were in town and they were with us and asked to stop at WalMart. They are extremely large, wider than they are tall, heavy enough to squat a F350 diesel 4X4 four door truck. My husband pulls into WalMart and she says, “I have a handicap sticker that you can hang on your mirror.” My husband says, “nobody in this truck is handicapped.”
Then he parks in the far end of the parking lot. I thought she was going to die before we got into the store, she was 28 at the time so not old age causing it. It was around 70 that day and she was huffing and puffing and drenched in sweat. She immediately hopped on a motorized cart saying that her knees were killing her and she couldn’t walk another step. We get ready to leave and she says, “I’ll just wait up here and you can come pick me up.” My husband pretends like he doesn’t hear her and I tell her I don’t think he heard you and that we might as well walk back to the truck because he’ll sit out there all day waiting on us.
On the way back to the truck not only is she huffing and puffing and sweating again, but now she’s telling me she can’t make it, she’s going to die, she’s never walked this far before. She makes it but then says she doesn’t have the strength to climb into the truck, she weighs over 500lbs, there is no way in heck I’m going to help her into the truck. My husband gets out and starts pushing and he can’t get her in. So we end up sitting there 30 minutes before she can finally get in the truck.
I gripe at him later that he should have just picked her up at the front of the store and that he is kind of mean. He said he hoped that forcing her to move would give her the incentive to lose some weight. I told him that her doctor had told her to walk and she refuses because if she loses weight then she’ll lose her disability, so he wasn’t going to shame her into losing weight, but he might kill her.

Yesssssss, the normal Walnart experience. Processed foods and simple carbs, the Diabetes Dimension. One of these days some smart tort lawyers are going to take major market chains to court over how they market these pogey baits, and there is a well planned and thought out marketing strategy to push them.
I particularly love the morbidly obese toddling around on the provided scooters, ala Simpsons, and it’s addictivecwatching them unload the most unhealthy foods from their baskets onto the belt. Yes, they have every right to eat themselves into the grave but Imobject to their doing it on my food stamp and medicaid dollar.
LikeLiked by 5 people
All of the junk food and the diet coke does make me laugh though.
I personally think the carts, the handicap stickers, disability checks and food stamps are enabling them to eat themselves into the grave.
I do though wish WalMart wouldn’t let them eat bags of chips and donuts while they’re shopping. It’s cruel and unusual punishment for the rest of the customers.

It disgusts me because they’re worse than pigs when it comes to eating. Crumbs, orange cheese dye, and white powder sugar all over their face and hands and shirt. Mouth so full that food is escaping and the sounds that put my pigs to shame.
They don’t take bites, they shovel and smash it into their mouths. I literally start gagging. You can’t avoid it because they always end up right in front of you.

Hey, it’s Walmart, it’s all part of the entertainment of slum shopping. We have local niche grocery stores thst stay open through customer service and 1st world standards.

The local grocery store in the same town as WalMart did have all these taste sample stations set up for the bakery, deli, produce, and gourmet cheese department. They quit doing that and I asked the guy working in the cheese department why they quit doing it.
He whispered to me that he wasn’t supposed to say, but it was because some people waited until they put them out and then went around and ate all of it, instead of the one small bite.
I was nice for once and said maybe they were poor and hungry.
He said, “oh no, this was just one couple who did this, they’re both very large and they get food stamps to buy food and they always cause a scene because we can’t let them buy hot food out of the deli with food stamps.”
He kindly told me they could still pass out samples if I was not sure what kind of cheese I wanted.
I’m just glad I never had to witness that.

Reminded me of Ft Collins where the kids would hit the local breweries for samples. Some, like New Belgium, would give each a tray with a small cup of each beer. Some of the shoppers would hit them in succession and rotate through each a couple of times. Ok, I’ll fess up…I did it too…
LikeLiked by 2 people
Well, they kind of made the mistake of having these trays on a base with lids sitting around and nobody to tell the folks only one or two samples and relied on a sign that said 2 samples per customer.
I guess these folks just shoveled them all in.

Made that mistake myself one time. I had not been in the store for maybe ten minutes, when the screaming of children and the pushing of food stamp people overwhelmed me. I put my small amount of purchases back on the shelf and left! Never again. I now order from Walmart on line and it is delivered to my door. The UPS man even carries my 50lb pound bag of dog food into the house for me. Life is good!
LikeLiked by 2 people
I order a lot of things on line (including pet food and supplies), and I’m now using a door to door produce/grocery service. They are a little more expensive sometimes, but the quality is good.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I might order more stuff online if they would bring it to my house, but unless it weighs over a certain amount or is in a box over a certain size they don’t bring it to me. UPS drops it off at the P.O. and the P.O. puts a card in the mailbox if it’s too large to fit in the box.
So unless I get free shipping or I can’t get it around here I don’t order online. I don’t like having to pay shipping when I still have to make a special trip to get it.

I can’t blame you. I would feel the same way.

It’s stupid to me.
My SIL orders a lot of car parts and he complains to UPS all the time asking them when he had 5 or 6 boxes why the heck can’t they just go ahead and deliver all the packages instead of taking the smaller packages to the post office.
They tell him it is just policy so they can provide faster deliveries and keep the costs down for people.
That makes zero sense to me, because they have to pay USPS and most of the time there is no delivery.

I just put in my first Schwans order. I live alone and I like the fact the have pre cooked chicken and other items that I can control the serving size on. It is coming on Tuesday, so I will see if I want to continue.

I think we have Schwans here too. I am using Door-to-Door Organics, which is available in the Midwest (also Colorado, Wyoming, and some eastern states). I love getting the fresh produce without having to run to the fruit market all the time, and they also sell dairy, meat, and some pantry items. The farm company is run by a family; the parents raise beef and pork, and the daughter and her husband raise chickens and sell meat and eggs. They partner with other local businesses to provide cheese and butter. Both companies deliver to my front porch. The farm company has me set out a cooler with cold packs, and they put the items in the cooler. Door-to-Door provides packaging with dry ice, cool packs etc in boxes.

WOW, wish I had something like that. Our town is so small the farmers market could not make a go of it. They did not have a very good variety of produce and the prices were sky high. We used to have a group of organic farmers and hutterites who would come into town once a week with really great stuff, but I think the FDA came down on them.

Yup, we have a ‘local’ dairy that processes its own milk. Their ‘naturally’ reduced fat milk still leaves a healthy slug of fat on the top of the bottle and you can float a quarter on the top their whole milk, ice cold it’s just a super drink. They also make their own REAL cheese and it’s light years ahead of the commercial stuff. It’s sold so close to the Louisiana border that a few of us have a beer bet when the USDA’s gonna step and regulate them as they could make the arguement that it ‘could’ be traded interstate if someone from Louisiana were to come to Mississippi to buy some.
Local dairies, local meat, local veggies…beats what we had in the city.

One of the very few things I miss after leaving the Northern VA area is the ability to go online, at the website of the major grocery store chain in the area, and order groceries. The whole grocery store’s inventory was accessible online, and I could take my time, finding sales on the things I bought, including good deals on meat and vegetables. I could find items on sale and stock up on them. It saved so much money, rather than sending my husband or one of the teenagers to the store, where they would wander through and buy all kinds of things we didn’t really need. I would place the order, and store employees would go and round up all the items, check it through, bag them and put them aside (or in refrigeration) for the pickup time I chose. All my husband had to do then was drive the 5 minutes to the store and wait for them to bring the bags out, then present the debit card to the person. He never even had to get out of the car. That just left bringing the stuff home and putting it away. That was a real luxury. That grocery store was always crowded, except in the middle of the night, and it was huge, too. So much time and money saved, for only an extra $4.95 fee. Even the fee could be discounted if you paid monthly in advance.

There is a similar service here (my favorite independent grocer with an excellent meat counter), and they will shop and deliver for an extra $10. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’ve been building a shopping list, probably for next week.

I’ve also been trying out a local farm supply for meat, eggs, and butter. Excellent quality, but kind of expensive.

I have access to some of that too, but the expense is a killer for me.

Our UPS half the time drops our stuff off at the P.O. and then we have to go pick it up ourselves.

That stinks, mine always comes to the door. Of course I kind of live out in the middle of nowhere. I am 15 miles from the nearest Post Office.

I’m the same way except it’s over 20 miles to the P.O.
Fedex is a little better about delivering to the house but they never get things here when they’re supposed to and they lose crap all the time or they leave it down on the road by the mailbox.

Man, that stinks. My FEDEX and UPS guys are great. Well, to be honest, I have known all of them for quite a few years. They are the same crew who used to deliver to the hardware store I worked at.

We’ve had several different drivers on our route. The Fedex driver we have now is creepy. So if they’d let me know they dropped it off at the road, I’d be fine with that. lol
I actually like the UPS driver we have now, but he says he has to do what the boss tells him. They have it sorted when he loads it and he has to take what they say to the post office.
I’ve given up on complaining, because I’ve talked to supervisors and managers all over the country and it does no good.

My UPS guy is a local so he has our phone numbers outbhere and calls us ahead of a delivery. Fedex just barges in and has been known to get their truck stuck in our garden. USPS uses our mailbox or a large covered tub we keep by the driveway for stuff too big to go into the mailbox.

I would put all the blame on the head honcho at the local headquarters, but I’ve went far up the chain and have still been told it’s their policy.
Maybe what they aren’t telling me is it’s just policy in this state. Heck I don’t know, I just want my crap delivered to my house. If they can’t do that then I’m not paying shipping on something that doesn’t get shipped to my house.
I’ve asked my UPS driver to just bring it to me and not tell them, but he says he can’t because it has to be scanned and they check every scan.
I can’t really blame our rural carriers for not wanting to bring larger packages, they only have so much room in their vehicles and we’re a long way from the P.O.

Sounds like my problems with Fedex, UPS here treats us like family. I have notes put on the few Fedex deliveries I can’t avoid asking them to leave the packsge at my gate and/or call me as my working dogs may be out and that exposes the driver to the posdibility of being bitten and the next time one of their trucks ignores the instructions clearly printed on the package and gets stuck in my garden or drive mynlawyer says he’ll send ’em a bill.
UPS and USPS are sweethearts, but then they are local. Fedex here frequently uses contractors who aren’t.

Our current UPS guy I don’t mind and he does follow instructions. Who knows how long he will stay around though because our route has a high turnover. I don’t think many like driving out here to the boonies.
Our mail lady is a good gal, but she drives a jeep and only has so much room and usually UPS is dumping the packages off about the time they’re about ready to head out.
FedEx around here can’t even keep their vehicles operating, most of the time they’re in rental vans.

Roger that, more than one Fedex contractor driving a U-Haul up the driveway’s seen one of us cautiouly reaching for his/her bsck pocket as they drive up, dogs moving out and licking their lips. One or two have gotten upset, can’t understand why we think it suspicious, 14 miles outside of town, for some dude in plain clothes driving 900-plus feet up our secluded driveway in a rented van.
UPS guy just lives down the road, his house is closer than the gas station and we hint pigs on the same property. USPS is a contract rural carrier who also lives out here so they both try to be neighborly.

Looking pretty good. There is a bad one down by the Snake river, but it is about 50% contained now. A few smaller ones in adjoining counties, but they are getting a good handle on them The biggest problem is, the weather services are saying we could have dry thunderstorms over the next couple of days. That would not be good.

We will probably not see a good rain until sometime in mid September. Just the way it is here in the “high desert”

Another reason I left in Intermountain Waste. The Utah drought I went through had me convinced that I didn’t belong in a place that had less total precipitation in one year than we’d get in the coastal South in one rainstorm. Green is green, no replacin’ it, and I got tired of smelling sage brush.

Used to drive along the Snake from around Twin Falls on the way to Umatilla. I do miss the mountains…sorta not missing the mountain winters that much though.

I tried to file a complaint twice with my local post office. Postmaster refused to talk to me in person and on the phone. It sure felt good filling out the online complaint, which I expect to receive as much attention as my phone call and in person visit.

Postmasters are probably afraid of being shot by patrons, taking into consideration the quality of the service we receive.

I just finished following up on an issue with the FCC…more like an Abbott and Costello routine than an information call. They parsed my origional RFI email into a complaint against a carrier that wasn’t even mentioned in the complaint and now regardless of what I do or say I’m stuck in that loop.

I know from talking to people who work or have worked for USPS it gets you nowhere. The upper folks might call you and they might call the local P.O. and say, “don’t do that again,” but they won’t do anything. You can thank the unions for that, it makes it almost impossible for a local office to fire a bad carrier.
We have one that isn’t our personal carrier, but she delivers out this way who I have complained on multiple times because she’ll run you off the road and flies down a little road on her way to the houses she delivers to. The former supervisor admitted to me that she had a file on her a foot thick, but when they try to do anything to her, the union comes in and the upper bosses come in and then they agree to just warn her and put it in her file.
Now I just call the cops on her all the time, but it doesn’t appear they do anything either. I’ve told all involved that the first time she wrecks me I’m going to sue the pants off all of them, but they don’t care because it’s not their money.
Another one had a DUI, lost her job, but the union fought for her and as soon as she could get her DL back they let her have her job back.

Looks like Trump really did see the video of a pallet full of cash that was sent from Yo’Bama to terrorist to help fund the slaughter of innocents.
I thought I saw this also but had no proof but here we go.

Hillary’ll stop all this when she makes sure that police and law abiding citizens don’t have guns. When thru have no need to fear armed retribution from their targets they’ll just resort to asking nicely fo’ you to be given’ it up. Usual Suspects, to include Sospechosos de Siempre and Almushtbhin Almalufin, will join in a renaissance of understanding, acceptance and brotherhood. It’s only the inate racism of white Christian America that causes these kinds of problems, just ask that Nobel laureate in the WH.
