Col. I just read that people who love their chickens are freezing corn for them in muffin tins so that the chickens have to peck at the ice to get the corn and thereby cool themselves off!

Could be different types of corn for growing season, weather, soil composition and lot other man made or nature factors. The stocks are full size 3 countries due east from me, mine have not reach that size yet.

It probably has a lot to do with weather, in my part of the state it wasn’t a good year for corn. It tassled too early.
Also there is different types of sweet corn as well as feed corn.

We had two kinds of colonels, ‘chicken’ colonels and ‘telephone’ colonels. Telrphone colonels were the lieutenant colonels who’d answer the phone ‘colonel Whoever’.
Our unit had 13 full colonels, an 18-wheeler full of lt cols, 13 sergeants major and one command sergeant major. Top heavy, eh?
Thanks for the pat but a good NCO knows that a bad officer can kill or maim his men quicker than a nightbin Olangapo City (don’t ask), it’s in the best interests of the guys at the point of the spear to ensure those who,point that spear correctly.
I was offered the last direct commission in 5th Army many years back and turned it down. A few months prior I was at a CENTCOM meeting where casualty rates were being discussed. Question was at what point after the Russians were engaged were we to start reporting them to thevstaff. A 3-star said that if he were asleep and we started losing companies…don’t wake him. If we started losing battalions we should start making the coffee for him. I figured that I’d rather be out there trying to make sure we didn’t lose battalions than being on a staff taking the reports in.
In retrospec, to be fair, the retirement money would have been a helluva lot better.

As a side business, Mom & Pop used to raise chickens. It was my special task to clean and de-lice the coops each spring. Most people aren’t aware that lice and chickens… they be friends. Ewwwwww.

City folks think they can make a pet out of anything, egg laying chicks that turn into roosters and start crowing and shit everywhere, goats that tear their curtains down and shit and pee everywhere.
I call it immaturity. When I was a kid I wanted to turn everything into a pet, until my pet heifer became dinner, then I grew up and realized they are our food. lol

My youngest daughter always loved the Junie B. Jones books, her favorite book was about a field trip to a farm. Junie didn’t want to go because she believed the reason farmers wore hats was because the chickens had pecked their heads off 😀 .
Giving human attributes to animals is dangerous just ask Timothy Treadwell, Roy horn, Steve Irwin, or even Ceasar Milan who has been bit more times than the media will ever let on and whose dogs that he has made “docile” through his whispers have bit more people than the media will ever let be known.

My grandson got sort of flogged by his first chicken, a hen with chicks. I got her kicked off before she did any damage, but he showed he’s all boy and a farm boy, he went and got him a stick and went right back to catch him a chick, beating her off with the stick. lol
Those folks along with all these animal rights idiots is what makes people think they can do this stuff and believe the animals think like them.
The foxes have been pretty thick lately and they’ll sit down and just look at you. I stopped at the bottom of the hill the other day and took a picture of a red fox who is looking pretty scruffy. My son the other day took a picture of a swift fox. We have a little common sense though and kept our distance. A person without common sense stopped on the road to the lake the other day and thought since the fox was just standing not moving meant it wanted her to pet it. She got bit pretty bad and the fox ran off, so now she’s having to take rabies shots. The game warden was warning people in the newspaper to not approach foxes and if they felt threatened they don’t always run away.
I miss the days when people didn’t have to be warned.

Like the people who go to national parks, try to get a selfie with the wildlife and get miffed when they get bit and/or a horn up the kazoo. ‘Well, it’s a national park’ they whine in surprise,’why aren’t the animals all tame?!’.
Remember me posting a few months back about the city folk parking by a neighbor’s fence, trying to call the 1200 pound fully-equipped bull over for the kiddies to pet?
Can’t make things foolproof as fools are so damnably persistent.

A girl was attacked by a rabid beaver in NC (I think Asheville ). There is a memorial for the beaver, it even has a little cross and flowers. No word on how the girl who was attacked by the rabid beaver is doing 🙄

I read an article about some woman who keeps getting chased and once attacked by a doe in her drive. She didn’t want the poor doe killed, but wanted to be able to get to her car and wanted the government to relocate it.
Sorry a darn deer comes after me and I don’t need the government’s help, I’ll fix the problem myself.

Did you see the young woman who had a hissy fit while inside of a car while in a big game park? She got out and went over to the driver’s side and a big cat grabbed her, a man and the ladies mom got out of the car to help save the catnip. Mom is dead woman has unknown injuries 🙄

There is a Nehlen office about 30 minutes away, I am going to try and make it there on Monday. I’m just hearing that security threw some moron reporter out of the event in Waukesha 😀 . Surprisingly there were no metal detectors but they wanded everyone who was up in the front row against the rail.

Mary, Excellent article, although Czar pointed out the vileness on Christian Churchs in England has been ongoing for some time. One of the commenters in the article had mentioned the ongoing attacks on Christians Churches throughout the Middle East.
I just hope when a few of these Moolussims bust into a church in this country, 90% of the parish member are concealed carry and take care of business……

Father Z posts often about being prepared and armed. Here’s another priest who is taking it seriously. This priest has seen a lot of the world and its violent ways. He spent some years in Rome, was at Lourdes, Jerusalem, and the Middle East (Armenia, I think.) If you’ve never heard of Father Byers, Mary, I think you might enjoy reading some of his posts. Quite an unusual priest.

Members of my son’s megachurch carry as much as a National Guard unit during services, that big old fortress mosque being built close by doesn’t help much either. There’s a pretty good book out about making and keeping your church safe but then if you’re a Pope Francis follower you know you should just turn the other cheek and take that martyr road.

Christians in Protestant and Catholic churches who have bought into the political and religious pc “we are the world” stuff will be sitting ducks if the majority of the people in their local church are like them. They’ll be lucky if among their ranks are a few conceal-carry men or women who have quietly and discreetly brought their weapons to church.
I think a lot of it depends on where you live. In some areas of the country, my understanding is that the idea of conceal carry during a church service is very accepted and widely practiced. Even in supposedly “gun-free-zone” churches, some pastors know that members of their congregation are carrying and gladly ignore the official policy.

I’d posted years ago next door that the Egyptian government had what amounted to an official extermination campaign against the Coptic church. The military somehow lost explosives that were later used to blow up Coptic churches during masses, the govt forced chucrh and church school closings, officially discriminated against the Copts and never seriously investigated acts of violence against the Copts or church property.
We also have that i frequently mentioned massacre of the Armenians by the Turks during WW I. One and a half million, at least, Armenian Christians were murdered though the word ‘Christian’ is rarely used so as to make it seem less of a religious targeting as Turkey’s a friend now. It was religious though, as other ethnic Christian groups in the Ottoman Empire were also murdered, just not as many as there were Armenians. It was a religious ethnic cleansing by Moslems.
Now we are notbhearing anything about the Christian or other non-Moslem groups being slaughtered By Moslem ISIS in the Mideast. The MSM’s reporting it as if it were a guerilla group driven by political ideology killing anonymous people of a different political ideology. We are, to my belief, being subject to a wholesale religious cleansing by progressives using third party shills to do their work. Once one group reigns supreme then they can quash it and the Marxist dream of a secular world cones true.

This is not exactly correct. The communists and socialists had their own club houses in many cities well before the civil war, and the trade unions well before that. Our public school system was modeled after the socialist one in Prussia in the second half of the 1880’s. Marxists influence was already around well before the Frankfurt school stuff. Maybe that just made it easier.

Here’s what I learned from reading those comments:
They reinforced my opinion that I really know almost nothing of the history of that time and those people. I knew how little I knew, but this is a good example. I had some surface grasp and understanding of the discussion, but my understanding didn’t go very deep. When I factor in that I probably know more than most people out there in our country today, it’s shocking. IOW, it appears to me that most people, including me, don’t know what the heck we’re talking about when it comes to our history.
Kudos to those of you who have taken the time and effort to learn more about the truth.

There are a lot of things that are glossed over, misrepresented, or just missing over time. Look at the administrations we’ve had since 1980. All the interference, power grabs, personal enrichment. It all happened back then too. Even before declaring independence, the first time they all met, they all were looking at each other sideways. Samuel Adams personal writings talk about who he liked and who he thought was just there for power. But Samuel Adams himself used manipulation in the OPED section of the newspapers he wrote for. He would write letters to the editor as different people, then answer them. Today on the Internet in blogs it’s called having a “sock puppet”.

Then I guess that means Mr. Adams was somewhat of a sneaky dude. We’d surely call out political leaders today (at least those with whom we disagree) for a trick like that. I guess they’ve been built up to be super-men, though they were all human just like the rest of us. It would be interesting to know if even two of them completely agreed on everything. Probably not. I don’t know if we could cobble together a group like them today though.

Even if he took the time to type all that out in Word and cut’n pasty it into the thread, he’s still not citing sources. I’ve read before the interpretation he’s giving. It’s not anything new. I think it’s a skewed interpretation of history that is missing about 60% of what was going on at the same time. But what he posted is what is currently viewed as correct in college…. and not to be questioned.

Blade was probably sitting next to me in my Master’s class at KU. This class started with the French Indian War, through the election of Jefferson/Adams and ended with the Louisiana purchase. From what I remember (over 30 ago) Blade is about 90% in between the lines. Now if you are reading the newspapers/private letters from that era which I believe gives you a better perspective. Jefferson was always against spending public monies, for the benefit of a few, now two of the biggest public works projects were started under his administration: The National Road, and Canal (currently the B&O railroad) along side of the Potomac.
Now the States created the Federal government, limited in power and scope. Referring to the 10th amendment.

The newspaper stories from back then are about as twisted as todays. What had never occurred to me until I was reading them was that the winner of the contest got to set the perception of what happened, exaggerated and in some cases untrue. The history being taught currently has been filtered and distilled for a couple of centuries in some cases.

Remember Washington read 10-15 newspapers daily. Jefferson enacted Hamilton’s Treasury reforms. Also just a point I want to make; the American Army which fought the Revolution was the most educated Army fielded, till 1990.

It was REALLY good!!! So glad you got to participate and I really appreciate you linking it. I sent it to my hubby. He’s a Hoosier and loves Pence. He’s got friends that worked for Pence on his gubernatorial election a few years ago and when he went back for a visit he stopped by the RNC office his friends worked at and got me a Pence shirt. After watching the video, I went and dug that shirt out and will wear it proudly until my new Trump/Pence shirt arrives in the mail. (Not everyday, of course… Hehe) 😊

Good morning! Is everyone ready for the political onslaught today? I’m getting overload from all of the live stream events this week, and here is what we can expect today:
Trump has two events in Iowa today; the first is a rally in Davenport at 4:00 pm, and the second is a rally in Cedar Rapids at 8:00 pm (not sure if those times are CT or ET; I’ll check).
Mike Pence also has two events today, in Michigan; the first is a Town Hall in Grand Rapids at 3:00 pm, and the second is a rally in Novi at 7:00 pm.
The lore about the name of “NOVI” is that it was the Number VI carriage stop from Detroit, but others say that isn’t true. The latest story is that NOVI comes from Croatia, and that it means “new”. Apparently, many towns in Croatia start with the word NOVI, although why a small Michigan town in 1830 would name their town after a town or towns in Croatia is a mystery. Anyway, Novi is now a town in the north-western suburbs of Detroit.
Of course, tonight is the last of the Democratic National Convention, and Hillary will be accepting her nomination as the party candidate for President. Wear your ear plugs if you plan to listen.

I did not watch the speech but for maybe 10 seconds. Obama looks as healthy as Hillary or Bill, he makes an Aid’s sufferer look plump. Shinny oily greasy sweaty skin, sunken eyes, eyebrows so dark and incongruent with his hair that they look like they could be on Groucho Marx. Then because he is so gaunt his ears look yuuuuuuge not to mention that they were just as shinny, oily, greasy and sweaty as his face.

Good afternoon. I spent much of my morning babysitting while my daughter went to the doctor. She was supposed to have had an ultrasound today but they said she didn’t have a full bladder, although she said she was about to pee on herself.
They ended up rescheduling after she told them she couldn’t hold it any longer. lol
I’m going to watch tonight with the sound off, but just to see what Bernie’s people do. I doubt I’ll last more than 5 minutes though.

I actually think we would be worse off because too many Republicans would not have had their eyes open. Too many would still think there were two parties and the Republican leaders are the guys in the white hats and the Dems wear the black hats. This way, all was exposed. Sure, may hit crisis point sooner but with McCain it would have just given the usurpers (of which he is part of) more time to lock things down as we were still busy thinking sending mass faxes and emails to our senators and congressmen was making a difference and being involved.

Woo Hoo…five of the six officers charged in the Freddie Gray case are suing Mosby for false arrest, false imprisonment, defamation of character and asking for cash and lawyers’ fees. Mosby supporters are saying she was acting within her official scope of duties and is protected from being sued but the suits were filed in Federal court and they tend to be a less protective than state ones.
