Good mornin’, Lucille! Quite a contrast this morning. Believe it or not, there is actually an area not too far away from us where lavender is grown in the Lone Star state. Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

Good morning everyone. A photo by Brandon M. Johnson taken August 2026. One of my favorite places in the world I’ve known, the Cherohala Skyway. It’s been one of the biggest blessing of my life to live so close to this wonderful place, and I only found it about 15 years ago.
If you ever get close to eastern Tennessee and or western North Carolina, this is probably the first place I’d go. I’ve seen in all four seasons, rain, shine, fog, and cloud cover. It never really matters to me what the weather looks like, the beauty is unsurpassed. Once I was up there for a could inversion. It was magical. Once we had to turn back, during peak fall color season, because the snow was coming down so hard. I’ve never seen such beautiful colored leaves with inches of snow on them before.
In the whole world of beauty, I doubt God ever topped the Smokies.

Good mornin’, Menage! We were recently in that part of the Country and spent some time driving on the highways and byways. We never got to see something like this (or snow), but Mrs. T was a bit queezy due to many of those roads being quite narrow with a sudden dropoff on her side of the road! But definitely some of the most beautiful scenery in this Country. Coffee’s ready whenever you are, ma’am.

You should have taken her on the Tail of the Dragon. 318 curves, 11 miles. Once we took our granddaughter and daughter in law up to the lodge at Fontana Lake for a stay. Granddaughter was five or six maybe. She had her window down and face in the breeze, laughing and yelling, loving every minute. All we could do to keep her in the car. It finally occurred to me that her mother was being too quiet. We had to find a wide place in the road to pull over for her.

I have some cousins who did that trip on their motorcycles. Talked about it a BUNCH! Not sure either of us would have been so fortunate. I do much better when my side of the car is next to the center line! 😉

I would love it! Your description of the road reminds me of the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. Not so many hairpins, but the drop-offs are pretty scary! Colorado’s Jeep trails are down right frightening, but beautiful too.

Good mornin’, and happy Friday eve! Yesterday, Miss Wee mentioned a cup of ambition. I found a machine that would require the ambition beforehand. This bad boy retails for $18K. I’m not sure what makes it so, as it looks like it could go in Bronco Bama’s Russian prison library in Chi-town. But here it is, and I’m pretty sure it would make a pretty mean cup of coffee! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

Mornin’ Tex! Another winner, but I don’t think I could afford it.

Texan, since this maker looks a tad like an old IBM typewriter, it’s only reasonable that everyone in your office gets one for his or her desk. That’d be a timesaver with people not having to leave their desks to get a cup. Stackable mugs would fit right in with the space and timesaving aspects….

Those are pretty sporty coffee cups. I would love to work in an office where we could afford an $18,000 coffee maker at every desk, for sure!

Maybe they could throw in the cups at no cost and help ease the burden.

“Just because” a phrase I heard a lot growing up.
Love peaches, especially fresh, but also canned.
I’ll have the chocolate pots of creme, thank you.
I hate to admit this, but I have never really understood Rock, paper, scissors.

Afternoon All. We finally got a nice t-storm last night. Unfortunately the temp might have dropped slightly, but the humidity went way up. It is pretty nice this morning, but humid and warming up. It is only supposed to get to about 84*.
I went to my youngest granddaughter’s bd party last night. She just turned 6 and was wearing her ballet outfit, a tutu with a large pink bow at the waist and a large pink bow at the neckline. She looked so cute. Her sisters made her handmade presents which were all really sweet.
Well, all you in Texas, stay safe. End everybody enjoy the day.

Afternoon, mom! I’ll bet your granddaughter looked very sweet! Enjoy her while you can; they grow up so quickly.

I told my son that I had ordered a book for my grandson about trucks. He said that would be right up his alley. One of his favorite books to have read to him before bed is a manual on a big piece of equipment.

Wow, looks like her entire Secret Service team needs investigation, along with the men and women who serve other family members. I’m assuming those who serve the President have already had their lives combed for any red flags.

I recommend you check out Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube. I also have some of his books. I regularly do 24 hour fasts, have done up to 3 days. I almost always fast at least 16-20 hours now, just because your body gets used to it, and resets to it. Even my husband has become accustomed to it, and prefers it.
We have both noticed a few quick changes. The first is that we sleep much, much better if our final meal is ended no later than 4, but the earlier, the better. We also never want to snack anymore. And my blood work was better at the doctor last time.

I don’t snack much at all. I usually eat twice a day – once late in the morning and once at about 4:30 or 5:00 pm.

Spotted over my old hometown today. I know there’s at least one on here who knows what that is! Air show this weekend at Grissom AFB, five miles from my backyard. T-Birds will be there as well.

Homeland Security warns of Chinese parts in election machines, will require paper ballot audits
By Steven Richards – Updated August 27, 2026
The Homeland Security Department will require random audits of paper ballots in the midterm elections, citing long-simmering concern that the nation’s largest voting technology companies use Chinese parts in their voting machines, according to a letter from Secretary Markwayne Mullin released Thursday.
Mullin sent the letter to the White House Transparency Task Force earlier this week outlining the dangers posed by Chinese components in American voting machines and the way that these components could be exploited by hackers or other malicious actors.
