Good morning everyone. A photo by Brandon M. Johnson taken August 2026. One of my favorite places in the world I’ve known, the Cherohala Skyway. It’s been one of the biggest blessing of my life to live so close to this wonderful place, and I only found it about 15 years ago.

If you ever get close to eastern Tennessee and or western North Carolina, this is probably the first place I’d go. I’ve seen in all four seasons, rain, shine, fog, and cloud cover. It never really matters to me what the weather looks like, the beauty is unsurpassed. Once I was up there for a could inversion. It was magical. Once we had to turn back, during peak fall color season, because the snow was coming down so hard. I’ve never seen such beautiful colored leaves with inches of snow on them before.

In the whole world of beauty, I doubt God ever topped the Smokies.

Good mornin’, Menage! We were recently in that part of the Country and spent some time driving on the highways and byways. We never got to see something like this (or snow), but Mrs. T was a bit queezy due to many of those roads being quite narrow with a sudden dropoff on her side of the road! But definitely some of the most beautiful scenery in this Country. Coffee’s ready whenever you are, ma’am.

You should have taken her on the Tail of the Dragon. 318 curves, 11 miles. Once we took our granddaughter and daughter in law up to the lodge at Fontana Lake for a stay. Granddaughter was five or six maybe. She had her window down and face in the breeze, laughing and yelling, loving every minute. All we could do to keep her in the car. It finally occurred to me that her mother was being too quiet. We had to find a wide place in the road to pull over for her.

I have some cousins who did that trip on their motorcycles. Talked about it a BUNCH! Not sure either of us would have been so fortunate. I do much better when my side of the car is next to the center line! 😉

I would love it! Your description of the road reminds me of the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. Not so many hairpins, but the drop-offs are pretty scary! Colorado’s Jeep trails are down right frightening, but beautiful too.

Good mornin’, and happy Friday eve! Yesterday, Miss Wee mentioned a cup of ambition. I found a machine that would require the ambition beforehand. This bad boy retails for $18K. I’m not sure what makes it so, as it looks like it could go in Bronco Bama’s Russian prison library in Chi-town. But here it is, and I’m pretty sure it would make a pretty mean cup of coffee! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!
