Morning everyone. Back from a trip to the Foxfire festival with our youngest grandson. Amazing how these resourceful and hard working Appalachian people eked a living out of this rough mountain terrain, and yet still found time to create beautiful art and music. So much forest, so little arable land around there. Much had to come from hunting, foraging, and raising animals, I’d say.
Rabun county is the most northeastern county in Georgia, and we traveled up through Tennessee along the beautiful Ocoee River, into North Carolina for a wee bit, then dipped down into Georgia. My husband said after leaving the graveled roads we took everything but a pack mule into that village, and he’s right. They had a trailer with hay bale seats hooked up to a tractor, which took us up to the village. If you were able to, you could hike up, of course.
We enjoyed time with the grandson, and the trip. I was especially taken with the many, many foods they offered in the cabins, cooked over open fires, and so many of them were made from sourdough. Grandson indulged himself quite generously. They even had sourdough lemon cookies, as well as chocolate chip. My husband and grandson were excited to see the black powder rifle shooting, and especially the blacksmithing and wood carving.
If you’re ever in the area, this corner of Georgia has got to be one of the most gorgeous places on the earth, still filled with rugged natural beauty.

That looks neat! Many moons ago we went to visit one of Pop’s buddies from the Navy and went to the Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee, GA. First time I ever saw cloggers. I dont much remember the food from that long ago, but I’m sure I partook of some of the goodies.

Hiwassee isn’t too far from where we used to be, when we lived in the cabin down in Ringgold.

Salute to the survivors. I’ve been killing weeds in the garden this morning, and some chocolate ice cream sounds good right about now. Grab some coffee, ma’am.

Morning czarina! I love ice cream (although I don’t indulge often) and chocolate is great. I still have a VCR and videos, which I haven’t used for a very long time.

Our Favorite Sunday Columnist has some thoughts on England’s anti – “George Floyd” moment that might begin to turn things around over there. What a mess. Especially when your royals are on the side of the goat herders.

When I was going through my divorce (only one so far) many moons ago, I learned a hard lesson. That lesson was to quit saying……”Well, it can’t get any worse”…… I keep thinking that we’ve hit bottom in society and government……..but I’ve been proven wrong time after time.

Does no one do maths anymore?!!! I don’t care how loud and proud they are, and how many people “identity as” them, actual practicing homosexual men are a significantly smaller portion of the population. They are attracting a very small group of customers and potentially losing a larger one.
Of course, it may be that a lot of people who are willing to pay that kind of money to still cook are woke liberals.

I just made that same point on X. Unless you are very woke, this is just plain disgusting. We know it exists, but don’t want to see it in advertising.
