From the Asheville News & Observer
Over the weekend, finance leaders from around the world traveled to Asheville for the G20 Finance Track meeting.
G20 stands for Group of 20 and consists of 19 countries plus the African and European unions that come together annually, since 1999, to discuss global economic issues. The official G20 Summit takes place, this year, in Miami, but Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Asheville was selected to host finance ministers and central bank governors because it “reflects the Trump Administration’s commitment to the revitalization and resilience of western North Carolina, which continues to rebuild after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene.”
Bringing the G20 Finance Track meeting to Asheville is expected to generate $1.5 million to $2 million in spending.
