Mornin’ All. Rained some more last night. We are in the 50’s now. The sun wants to come out, but I doubt it will make it. Hope you all enjoy the day.

Good mornin’, and happy Friday! As ern said…..we made it! If you’ge got that one grandkid who’s hard to buy for and seems to have a bit of a pasty complexion, this may be just the coffee maker that will enable you to score some points with them and get back in their good graces. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

Umm, Err, thank you, Tex.
That’s definitely a coffee maker with attitude.
Decaf would never dare come near it.

Mornin’ Tex! I don’t know about that one.

Just remember, you’re not marrying it, just having some coffee! It’s a weird one, but I’m running out of options, or bandwidth to find new ones. 😉

We’ve been battling this for years. I’ve been on Mrs. T to get some others involved for the holiday cooking, and this seems to be the result. It’s sometimes a delicate balance between letting them “cook” something and just asking them to bring the napkins. 😀 😀 😀

There are delicate sensibilities involved, Tex.
Asking someone to bring the ice, chips or something to drink will generally be safe. It’s important to be specific. There are those whose definition of something to drink is very broad, and the snacks are “hotter than hades;” forgetting entirely that not all family members are adults. Especially when they shop at the local “convenience” store at the last minute.
It always pays to have a back up. Especially with distant “cousins”.

Good morning, Miss Stella,
Glad it’s bright and sunny in your neck o’ the woods.
Fall can wait a little longer. Was there already an Indian Summer?

Not much fall left here. We have already had snow, and it isn’t very warm.

I used to get to bring the stuffed celery! 😀

Gotcha beat! They used to ask me to bring tomatoes, cuz my dad owned a tomato house. Worked my way up!
My husband’s family is way, way too big for one person to do it all, so we’re really great at everyone bringing the stuff they excel at. The pressure is on, however! People better perform, or there’s gonna be consequences! Ain’t no participation badges!
Morning Wee!

Cream cheese with olives or peanut butter?

My mother’s favorite was the cream cheese with pineapple. I personally hate celery, at least the raw kind.

I like that idea. Sweet and savory.
The outlier for stuffed celery was cream and blue cheeses.

Snacks are always a good suggestion for such as those. Or beverages.

These are grown women and I’ve told my bride that if something were to happen to her before I go, that I’m so scr*wed because they can’t cook and I’ll starve to death. It’s not 22 year-old boys! 😉

National Family PJ Day
National Pickle Day – love pickles
National Spicy Guacamole Day – spicy is for others. Give me plain guac
National Seat Belt Day – remember the first car your dad had that had seat belts? I do.

Guacamole for the win!
Wonder if that name has already been used for a race horse? (Next time I meet a thoroughbred horse breeder…)

I have recently stumbled into what is, for me, pickle nirvana. As you guys know, I love my fermented foods, but I’ve not done my own for awhile now, it’s more than I can keep up with currently.
I accidentally found this lady who does kefir, kombucha, and all kinds of vegetables. Bought her pickles and wow was the reaction for everyone. They are the best we’ve ever had, crispiest, and her recipe is quite unusual in taste. She makes a cucumber salad loaded with all kinds of vegetables and I swear, I could eat the whole jar.
Right now she’s doing some fermented cranberry recipes for me, for the holidays, and a fermented cranberry, onion, and fennel deal I requested. She also does sourdough, so I have back up on that!
So, pickles and more pickles for me! But if you’re going to eat them, do your gut a favor and go for the fermented kind!
I’m with Wee on guac, any way I can get it. I do indeed remember getting seat belts.

Afternoon Czarina! Pickles for me, I’ve had one or two in my lifetime. Love them!

The first time I had guac was when we had just moved to San Diego and went to a real Mexican restaurant. Our friend insisted on me having a Margarita and the quad. I resisted, but then couldn’t get enough of both. But, I don’t want it spicy.
My father put seat belts in our car before they ever put them in other cars. I thought he was very smart.
