Our Favorite Sunday Columnist has some thoughts on the pinhead at some of our “think tanks”, and she’s not impressed. Bottom line…..we suck at the ground game and the other side thrives in it. We gotta change, or we’re not gonna last.

National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day – what an invention!

National Louisiana Day – yes, they put seafood in their cornbread dressing and always seem to have noodles and cheese at Thanksgiving

National Microtia Day = small ears

National Scrapple Day – maybe ate some once, not a fan

      Czarina,

You may have intentionally forgotten it.

They call it Scrapple, because it is made with scraps of meat that are encased in solidified corn meal mush, cooled, then cut and fried. It’s only equaled by goetta, a similar food, only goetta’s made with pin or steel cut oats.

They are both ways of using every last bit of an animal. There may be some tasty versions. I did not find either appealing, but more akin to subsistence food for a family.

Next up to try in that vein is haggis, or maybe not to try.

Good day, Czarina! Seafood in cornbread dressing sounds delicious. Never have had fried chicken sandwiches…a bit bulky to eat perhaps?

All dressed up scrapple looks OK in photos…

What Is Scrapple and What’s The Best Way To Cook It?
      BY JONATHAN KESH

If you’ve ever spent time in the Mid-Atlantic, it’s entirely possible you’ve seen scrapple. It vaguely resembles Depression-era meatloaf, though it holds its square shape much more easily. Plus, a few bites will quickly tell you that scrapple is pork, not beef, and that it tastes closer to liverwurst or even breakfast sausage, depending on how it’s spiced (usually with salt, pepper, and sage). In essence, scrapple is a thick, mushy food made from pork scraps (including edible organ meat), cornmeal, and often buckwheat flour. It’s almost a pâté, though perhaps closer to polenta in some ways.

Thank you Stella for keeping up with my flying fingers today.

Something a little different and exceptional. Ilia Malinin broke the record for the highest free skate score ever at Skate Canada. An exceptional performance.
