Good afternoon, WeeWeed! Got up late today because I was up until 2:30 AM watching my favorite Arkansas State Trooper, Jacob Byrd….

ASP Trooper BYRD with a DWI Arrest on HONDA CIVIC – Passenger flees from his stop (call in the K9!)

How these troopers drive at 130 miles an hour at night with no street lights, though with a relatively good highway, is beyond me! The 1:10:44 mental ride-along is quite thrilling! And the lanky 28-year-old is adorable.

Clarification: There isn’t the usual chase in this video from December 2022, but the vid does show Byrd’s character and professionalism. Unlike many stops, the people in the car were cooperative except for one of the passengers who inexplicably exited the car and ran. Byrd was by himself and could do nothing about that but he did report the escape to Central Dispatch.

At one point Byrd retrieves a blanket from the stopped vehicle to give to the girl passenger who is sitting, as ordered, on the berm grass. He then tells her to lean against the front of his patrol car to help her keep warm from the engine heat.

She’s never at any point under arrest, though she is cuffed for Byrd’s protection. Her boyfriend who was driving is in Byrd’s vehicle backseat. In the end, Byrd asks one of the other officers who has arrived on scene to take her to her place of employment because the girl is worried about losing her job if she is late to work.

Most of the time viewers, myself included, are disturbed by the arrogant and entitled miscreants who are chased down and end up whining and saying “I can’t breathe” or “I’m scared of you” to the police. We are all just glad to see them off the streets for a while.

However, in this vid, the girl seemed a responsible person. No back-talk or speaking unless spoken to, showing respect to the officer.

On the other hand, though he did also show respect and followed orders without protest or resistance, the guy’s life was on a downward spiral, with ever-increasing brushes with the law.

The 1920s was an era whose young people were called “The Lost Generation.” Looking at the 2020s, that term surely describes many of our own youth.

Yeah, me too. In one of the comment sections of another vid, someone wrote that Byrd’s background from a small boy included a heavy interest in fast cars which developed into swift and accurate driving on racetracks.

He’s one of the best in the ASP for PIT maneuvers where the officers ram the car they are chasing to get it off the highway. Sometimes it takes just the lightest strategic touch to accomplish this.

My chapeau is off to the entire ASP and, of course, to their Governor Sarah for her full support of the troopers.

It’s soup time, finally. Found some German lager for this recipe. Hopefully, there will be other recipes to use up the rest of the six pack. Man, this looks so good.
