Good mornin’, ma’am. My favorite breakfast of all time! Thank goodness they didn’t forget the brass knuckles!

My mama used to carry some in her purse. Truth. And she could use them, if needed. My daddy had a wholesale produce business on the farmer’s market. Back in those days, it had not been yuppified, and was in the hood.
I don’t know why she chose them instead of a gun, but she sure carried them.

National Barbecued Spareribs Day – good choice. I’ve got mine thawing in the fridge.
Alice in Wonderland Day – I nev3 read the whole thing. Fantasy is not my thing.
Independence Day – and a happy one to all of you!
National Caesar Salad Day – goes well with spareribs, or most any meat

Finally, met someone else who didn’t like Alice. I didn’t finish it either, hated it. And I’m a big fan of Caesar Salad, with or without meats.
Happy 4th czarina.

Good mornin, czarina, Menage! Three out’a four there. That’s a pretty good day! I’m gonna do everything I can to have all 10 digits to hang on to those ribs, too!

Hi, Czarina! YES to Independence Day and all food. Have a grand time with your barbecued spareribs.
“Alice” is clever and some think charming, but it’s not a favorite for me either.

Apparently, I decided to sleep in a bit this morning. I couldn’t find a patriotic coffee maker, so I went sheer volume today. BYOC – Bring Your Own Cookies!

Happy 4th of July! The sky is perfectly clear and blue, it is almost 60* and very pleasant. Sorry guys. Maybe next year you might want to spend the 4th up here. Well, you are invited anyway. Of course, you will want to be back home before the temps drop to 0* or below.
I am going to a 4th party that they have every year. They have a potluck and then later, when it gets dark, they shoot off fireworks, some of the best I have ever seen. They own a lot of land and have a huge field that is set up for fireworks. The kids can swim in the big pond and there is plenty of yard to run around in. The only thing is, I have to leave before it gets dark. Oh, well. Maybe someday I can live closer.
Enjoy your day. Hope that hurricane won’t mess it up for you.

Vivek has a superb idea on how to dismantle the Administrative State, and it sure seems possible after recent SCOTUS action. The article is a bit lengthy……even for NBC News! This is brilliant.

The Father of American Music
It’s a great day to commemorate Americans who helped shape the country. Today, we hear the story of America’s first official full-time songwriter—Stephen Collins Foster. He wrote over 200 songs, including hits like “Oh! Susanna” and “My Old Kentucky Home.” His dedication to music made him one of America’s most culturally influential songwriters. Interestingly enough, it’s not only Foster’s name that is synonymous with American music history. Born on July 4, 1826, his birthdate is also synonymous with America’s independence.
Foster grew up in the tight-knit community of Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania, home to a wide array of European immigrants including Italians, Germans, and the Scotch-Irish. Early on, his parents realized they had a bright young boy on their hands. They ensured he received a classical education at private academic institutions where he studied multiple languages, literature, mathematics, and penmanship.
While studying, Foster worked on music. He was a self-taught musician who learned how to play the guitar, flute, clarinet, and piano. Thanks to his brother, Foster was later introduced to Henry Kleber, a well-known music dealer in the Pennsylvania area. The two hit it off and in 1839, barely a teen, Foster found his first mentor.
Kleber exposed the gifted artist to classical works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert. Enthralled by the legendary classical composers, Foster was inspired to try his hand at his own songs. He attended Jefferson College in his home state, but financial strains caused him to drop out. Blazing his own trail in America, Foster embarked on a journey no citizen had yet done: becoming a full-time professional songwriter. – The Epoch Times

I am the only person I know who is a huge Stephen Foster fan. A teacher of mine in elementary school who took it upon herself to include music in our curriculum (I think it was third grade, so we had one teacher, no formal music class) brought in some of his records and taught us his history. I somehow got my mom to buy some 45s.
Same teacher taught us all the hymns of the armed services, and I still think of those moments, and hear the “Halls of Montezuma” and caisons rolling along in my head. Of course, she had to teach us what caisons were.
I used to play videos of some of the Stephen Foster songs for my granddaughter when she was a baby and toddler.

Hi, Menagerie! Yes, we also learned Foster songs and all the songs for the different military services. California schools were once very patriotic-oriented in both music and history.
Sam Cooke ~ “I Dream Of Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair”
I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair,
Borne like a vapor, on the summer air:
I see her tripping where the bright streams play,
Happy as the daisies that dance on her way.
Many were the wild notes her merry voice would pour,
Many were the blithe birds that warbled them o’er:
Oh! I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair,
Floating, like a vapor on the soft summer air.
I long for Jeanie with the day dawn smile,
Radiant in gladness, warm winning guile;
I hear her melodies, like joys gone by,
Sighing round my heart o’er the fond hopes that die:
Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,
Wailing for the lost one that comes not again:
Oh! I long for Jeanie and my heart bows low,
Nevermore to find here where the bright waters flow.

In junior high and high school, I was one of those band nerds. On this day in 1976, our high school marching band participated in celebrating the 200th anniversary of this great Country in the nation’s capitol, Washington, DC. My first time on a commercial airliner as well. Our band has a lot more trophies than our football or basketball teams.

Mississippi District Judge Orders Nationwide Stay on Title IX Gender Identity Revisions
By Matt McGregor – 7/4/2024
A Mississippi district judge has ruled that the federal government can’t enforce its reinterpretation of Title IX protections to include gender identity revisions.
U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola granted the preliminary injunction and a nationwide stay against Health and Human Services (HHS) revisions to Title IX after complaints alleging HHS seeks to replace health regulations with a “regime” committed “to gender ideology over medical reality.”
Judge Gurioloa wrote that HHS officials began expanding the definition of Title IX protections in 2016 to include “discrimination based on the basis of gender identity” to fit in with Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Title IX was initially established in 1972 to protect women from discrimination in public education.

One more thing……..the whole deal about Mooch beating Trump….when you get the details, the poll was done with “adults”, which is the least credible demographic there is when doing political polling. But……..it doesn’t mean that I want to go up against her. If she got the final nod, there is nothing that won’t be done to drag her fat-*ss into the White House. Nothing.
