Today, March 5, 1770 in American and British history…

    The Boston Massacre…

Harassed by a mob, British troops on this day in 1770 opened fire, killing Crispus Attucks and four others in the Boston Massacre, an event that galvanized anti-British feelings in the lead-up to the American Revolution

Crispus Attucks (born 1723?—died March 5, 1770, Boston, Mass. [U.S.]) was an American hero, martyr of the Boston Massacre. Attucks’s life prior to the day of his death is still shrouded in mystery. Although nothing is known definitively about his ancestry, his father is thought to be Prince Yonger, a slave who was brought to America, while his mother is thought to be Nancy Attucks, a Natick Indian. In the Boston Gazette on Oct. 2, 1750, William Brown, a resident of Framingham, Mass., advertised for the recovery of a runaway slave named “Crispas”—usually thought to be the Crispus in question. This sounds and looks decadently delicious for Taco Tuesday…

    Birria Tacos

    BY ADRIANNA ADARME

This Birria Tacos (tacos de birria aka quesatacos) recipe is juicy, cheesy, delicious—a true showstopper. It begins with braising a birria de rez and then making a consomé and frying up tacos with Oaxacan (or mozzarella) cheese. Instructions for oven, Instant Pot and slow-cooker methods are all included! With this recipe you can make my Beef Birria and Birria Ramen.

    What are Birria Tacos

Birria Tacos (tacos de birria and sometimes called quesabirria tacos) consists of the braised meat inside a corn tortilla that’s been pan-fried in the fat that sits at the top of the birria. You may be asking yourself: are birria tacos spicy? I say not really. BUT, please keep in mind that I am Peruvian and this means I grew up with spicy food so my tolerance is quite high.

The Birria Tacos are then filled with melty Oaxacan cheese (quesillo), cilantro, lime and white onion. And a small bowl of consomé is served on the side for dipping. Truly a magical meal!

National Cheese Doodle Day – one of my fave foods

National Absinthe Day – famous in the French Quarter, at the Old Absinthe House.

March 5th is also known as National Absinthe Day. This day is for those who are 21 years or older to celebrate a drink called absinthe. #NationalAbsintheDay

Often mistaken for a liqueur, it is truly a spirit because it isn’t sweetened. It belongs to the vodkas, gins, and whiskeys when categorizing absinthe.

The spirit is made by infusing wormwood, fennel, anise, and other herbs into alcohol through distillation. Pierre Ordinaire, a French doctor, is credited with the creation of absinthe. He developed and prescribed the elixir in the early 19th century as a cure for many illnesses.

Afternoon All. 31* and sunny with clouds. Really nice but chilly in the breeze. I think Loki is happy that she gets to spend more time outside and her walks are longer. I thought we were supposed to have more snow, but evidently the weather guessers decided not to.

I need to go out an start my car since I haven’t done that probably for a month. and, I want to go visit my kids this Friday. So I want to make sure it runs.

Well, hope you have enough coffee to have a nice day.  🙂

Speaker Mike Johnson Throws Cold Water on House Democrats’ Plan to Remove Trump from Ballot: ‘Get a Grip’

    By Rachel M. Emmanuel  March 5, 2024 at 10:26am

Even after the unanimous Supreme Court ruling on Monday proved that the horse is well and truly dead, Democrats cannot seem to give up the notion that they can somehow resurrect their imaginary Pegasus so that it can carry them to victory in November.
