Dick Donner, the director for the “Lethal Weapon” films, said once that Mel Gibson was the most knowledgeable man he ever knew. Mel’s range of interests and his full grasp of them always made for delightful conversations.
A funny little story about Gibson…a friend of mine worked for a producer at Universal. One of her support staff had a big crush on Mel and was so excited that he was coming to visit their boss. The young woman rushed into my friend’s office asking if he’d shown up yet. My friend laughed and said that he just passed by her as she was coming into the office and he was leaving. Gibson isn’t a big, imposing kind of guy and apparently people often didn’t recognize him. The girl ran out to see if she could spot him but he’d already disappeared.

Mornin’ all ya’all! After a few days of reasonable weather we are looking at the first Saturday evening of Carnival to be windy and stormy with lightning and all. Parades have been fleeing Saturday afternoon and evening to march earlier in the day and even yesterday. Happens some years. In the early 90’s so many had to reschedule they held one long all day parade the next month!

Four Chaplains Day – The four chaplains were Reverend George L. Fox, a Methodist minister, Reverend Clark V. Poling of the Reformed Church of America, Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, and Father John P. Washington of the Roman Catholic Church. Their voyage began on January 23, 1943. At the time, German U-Boats were patrolling the area, and the convoy was on high alert. When a German submarine torpedoed the Dorchester on February 3, 1943, in the frigid waters off the coast of Newfoundland, chaos ensued.
Eyewitnesses recounted the chaplains’ heroism, including giving their life jackets and gloves to other service members. They prayed with service members, assisting them into lifeboats. The four chaplains remained on the sinking Dorchester. Only 230 men were rescued from the waters.

Afternoon All. It is 33* and snowing here. I think that is the forecast for the whole weekend. Not much going on to report on other than that. I am dismayed at the start of WW3 so I am FF through anything about that.
