Have a terrific Tuesday, Stellars….

Driving through the Alabama hills was always a favorite portion of our drive from the Antelope Valley to Lone Pine (which is a couple miles east of where this photo was taken) as we were en route to the 8,000 elevation trailhead in the Sierra, where we would park and begin our backpacking trips with our sons in their preteen and teen years. (1970s)
There’s a long zig-zag road (narrow at the time) cut into the east face of the foothills that climbs for miles, finally taking you up into treelline.

What wonderful memories to give your family, Sharon.

Good day to you, Sharon! Have you camped near Mt. Whitney?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, way down at the foot, near a creek, and also about half way up. I was planning to climb the peak one weekend, and it was a simple trek for a healthy 35 year old. I was to meet up with a group of friends, who were bringing a bunch of novice hikers up–their whole group was about 8.
The plan was that I would be going in a day ahead of them and wait for them at about the 10,000 level where I would camp overnight, and they would come mid-morning the next day.
That opening part went fine. I enjoyed being on the trail by myself, got my little campsite cleaned up in the morning, had my pack reloaded, waiting for them. About 11 or so, they showed up.
Through the next several hours we were working our way through the switchbacks and I began observing complete lack of discipline within their group–cutting switchbacks and doing lots of really unsafe things. I realized that I had abolutely no interest in being part of that mess, so about mid-afternoon, I told my friends (the couple who were hosting them on the trail) that I needed to turn back.
So I walked back down my car at the trailhead, anxious to get off the altitude, camp at my carovernight, and head home in the morning, a hundred miles or so down Hwy 395.
Before I left Lone Pine late the next morning, I went in a cute little tourist/sporting goods store/trap(!) and bought a little stitchon for my hiking jacket that simply said, “I almost climbed Mt. Whitney”. I still have it!
That was during the six+ years my late husband and I were divorced, and our sons were staying with their friends…the three of usually went backpacking together but not that time. We had a good time with our efforts and also some good stories!

One of favorite sites near Mt. Whitney was Cottonwood Meadows – probably about 6-7 miles south as the crow flies – had a different trailhead, and was much simpler trail….that was where our boys got started backpacking when they were 4 and 6. The rule was–they had to be old enough to carry their own clothes and sleeping bags…we had such a good time with them!

You were admirably adventurous, Sharon. Fun memories for you, I’m sure, even with the occasional undisciplined soul mess-up.

One of my favorite things about Mt. Whitney is seeing that WHITE granite when the sun hits it in the morning. Just dazzling!

From my Senator, James Risch….
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 11, 2023
Risch, Daines Lead Bill to Unleash American Energy
Bill Mandates Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Lease Sales
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.) led their Senate Republican colleagues in introducing the Supporting Made in America Energy Act, which would ensure the United States maintains and grows its energy independence by supporting Made in America energy. The bill bolsters energy independence by requiring the Department of the Interior (DOI) to hold four onshore oil and gas lease sales in the top oil and gas producing states as well as requiring two offshore oil and gas lease sales in each available area in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.
“The Biden administration’s failure to conduct legally required oil and gas lease sales has led to higher energy prices,” said Risch. “The Supporting Made in America Energy Act will force the administration to approve lease sales and move us toward energy independence.”
“Now more than ever, energy security is national security,” said Daines. “As President Biden continues to push his out-of-touch and unrealistic green agenda on the American people, I’ll continue to push for policies that bolster made-in-America energy.”
Risch and Daines were joined by Senators James Lankford (R-Okla.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) in introducing the legislation.

Good day, weather. Risch is a fairly good persuader. So we’ll see how well he does with the entire U.S. Senate.

Finally, some good news about “The Royals”, aka Harry and the Harridan. Named show business “Losers of the Year” for 2023! While this is a Breitbart article, it was taken from The Hollywood Reporter, which is the source out in Hollyweird. 😀 😀 😀

Is this the ‘South Park’ cartoon the article refers to?

I just watched the Republican House presser. Stefanik came down hard on Harvard, mentioning that their motto is “Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae,” which means “Truth for Christ and the Church” in Latin. She’s a Harvard graduate.

I don’t think pressure is going to let up from big money donors. We’ll see if the Ivy’s will count on getting more Middle East money, or if they start getting some sense. I’m not optimistic that they will do the right thing.

Afternoon All. It is in the low 30’s and has been for days. Seems almost like a heat wave. The weather guessers are not predicting snow yet, but they seem to be blindsided each time it does snow, so who knows. I just hope I can get over to my kids house for Christmas. I know, there is still a lot of time til then.
Guess I should get some housekeeping done. So, hope you all have a great day.

I don’t understand wanting to go to a party that you’re not invited to, and then asking for an invitation…. setting yourself up for a further smackdown. The situation does serve to further document that lackofcharacter on the part of the bidens.
Any females (mothers/daughters/sisters/cousins) who are part of these families might want to be grateful for having escaped the need to be within Joe’s reach. Seriously.

This is a pro-life ad running by a pro-life Dem for President. I believe it is what it is going to take to get through to so many people who support abortion. DO NOT WATCH unless you choose to see. She has the bodies of late term abortions. I am sure it will be taken off YouTube quickly. Just remove the xxx’s.

Of course Harvard didn’t fire Claudine Gay
By Kaylee McGhee White, Restoring America Editor December 12, 2023 01:36 PM
Harvard knows Gay’s failures well — they just don’t care. Gay wasn’t hired to lead Harvard because of her intellectual prowess or tremendous academic accomplishments. She was hired because she adheres to a leftist ideology that places race and diversity above equality and merit and because she promised to infuse that ideology in every facet of Harvard’s operations.
