I’ll try to put this article where it should belong. Seat-warmer named for DiFi’s spot in the World’s Most Deliberative Body, and at least it isn’t Meghan Markle or any of the goobs running for the seat. You can bet she’s a solid d on the scorecard however. Hair-Gel must have had her on a short list as it didn’t take him long.

Can you believe this? My daughter was two, though I admit that my mother took on the task for me.

Kindergartners In diapers: A growing trend
Apparently, there are an increasing number of kids, with no physical or cognitive disabilities whatsoever, who are entering kindergarten without being potty-trained. This is hard to fathom. In the past, the vast majority of children were fully potty trained around three years old, give or take a couple of months.

However, today kindergarten teachers often report to We Are Teachers that 15-20% of their classroom is not potty-trained, and that even a few first-graders are still in Pull-Ups.

I had an in-home daycare back in the 80’s. I took in one child who was not being taught anything. He cried the first time I made him sit at the table with the other kids. He wouldn’t eat until they left. So, after that I told him he had to get down with the others, so that day he didn’t get to eat his lunch because he refused. He was smart enough to figure out I meant it and that ceased to be a problem.

But he came with a bottle and diapers, and was promptly teased by the others. He was four years old. Then, his parents started sending him in diapers one day and pants the next day, his choice. When I objected that he might forget he was in pants, his father blew up at me and said children were being forced to grow up to fast.

I knew then that parenting was taking a really bad turn.

    Detroit-area news:

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard warns against burglary gangs from ‘south of the border’

The nation’s southern borders must be sealed against intruders from Latin and South America, because among the streams of people entering illegally are criminals forming well-organized gangs that are targeting upscale homes for burglaries, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said Friday.

Bouchard said he strongly supported a letter sent this week, on behalf of the nation’s police chiefs and sheriffs, to lawmakers in Washington, D.C., and to the U.S. Department of State imploring leaders to close the border and require background checks of those claiming to be tourists.

The letter, dated Sept. 28, was sent by the Coalition of Police and Sheriffs of America, to which the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office belongs through affiliation with the Major County Sheriffs of America, of which Bouchard is the former president and current vice president for government affairs. Bouchard said the gangs from “south of the border” are growing increasingly active nationwide and pose a risk to residents of metro Detroit, especially those whose homes are on large lots isolated from neighbors’ sight, and those that back up to golf courses or wooded areas. He warned “anyone, really” not to leave doors unlocked to houses, garages and vehicles, not to leave garage-door switches, weapons, or valuables in their cars and to test their homes’ security systems and consider adding more features, including motion detectors.
