It’s complicated and sorta confusing, but the rulings seem fine to me.

Overall I believe a channel or blog proprietor should not be held liable for commenter views which lead to encouraging the ignorant or vulnerable to commit crimes or even treasonous, evil acts. I do think it’s the responsibility of the proprietor and moderators to weed out anything which encourages illegality.

As for political opinions, preferably they should not be censored by any side. But they certainly can be moderated if a commenter gets out of line with personal comments or name calling against another commenter. Basically you should treat others as you wish to be treated.

There’s a reason politics and religion start strong personal feelings. Thus a need for moderators. This is where the Left has run amok with censorship. If one doesn’t agree, then in the Left’s eyes, you must be shut up! As a result, only Left leaning viewpoints get published. There will be a fine line coming up and I hope it isn’t on the wrong side of free speech. It’s not like “all’s fair in love and war” kinda thing. Our Constitution defines things that apply today and there’s a case to be made that it’s outdated as science and technology that we have now, wasn’t around when the document was formed. Lasting this long is a testament of how great those individuals were! May our Deity guide us in the correct way!

And who gets decide what words encourage “illegality”? And what “illegality” is from one week to the next? Who gets to decide who the “vulnerable” and “ignorant” are? Making a blog host responsible for figuring that out is a dicey proposition, I think.

On one hand, of course—don’t be a jerk! But, on the other hand, no individual hosting a blog can read minds and make rapid call judgments on every comment all the time.
