What happened on April 30?

I found three significant events that took place on April 30.

The first historical event, a happy one, was the inauguration of George Washington, in New York City in 1789, addressing his constituency on “the proceedings of a new and free government.”

The second historical event was the birth of Willie Nelson in 1933, 90 years ago. Some say that he was born on April 29. Born during the Great Depression and raised by his grandparents, Nelson wrote his first song at age seven and joined his first band at ten. During high school, he toured locally with the Bohemian Polka as their lead singer and guitar player. Nelson has been married four times and has seven children.

The third historical event, horrible but significant, was the suicide of Adolph Hitler and Eva Braun-Hitler at his bunker in Berlin in 1945. As Soviet troops entered the heart of Berlin, Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, in his underground bunker. According to his wishes, both bodies were burned and buried.

It was by his henchmen. There is more to the story. The invading Russians dug them up, but didn’t let anybody know, encouraging conspiracy theories that maybe Hitler was still alive.
