When looking up bird pictures, I came across the following article…and discovered that there are NO “seagulls” anywhere, only “gulls.” Who knew?

‘Cept the ones from Alaska. They’uns keep a car at both ends ‘cuz it costs to0 much to bring one down and back every year. Even tho we can drive thru Canada again, it’s about 5,000 miles and half of it pretty rough road to get to Texas from here.

Such a beautiful bird! That’s a Bohemian Waxwing. Funny story. One winter when I lived in Spokane on the South Hill, I had one of those trees near my back door. The berries hang on the tree long after the leaves are gone, and with the cold weather moving in, they naturally ferment. One afternoon an entire large flock of waxwings flew in and landed on the tree, eating the berries at a gobbling rate. At first they were quietly at work. But the more berries they ate, the drunker they got. Quiet became bird chirps became loud calls (insults, I’m sure) became squabbles and screams. It reminded me of a bunch of frat boys on their second keg of beer. I’m sure the neighbors down the block could hear them. Then all of a sudden they were gone and quiet descended again. I didn’t see them fly off, so can’t say if any were wobbling drunkenly as they left, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Yes, “seagulls” they will remain to me, too. Here’s a famous story about Eddie Rickenbacker, a World War 1 airman who was dubbed “Ace of Aces”, and a seagull that saved him during World War 2 after the military plane on which he was a passenger had to be ditched at sea.

This is why I still have the refrigerator that I purchased new in 2001. I have had it repaired twice. I have also been told by repairmen that the new ones are trash.

Mornin’ All. 22* and just slightly overcast this morning. Not much news from here. I did stay up long enough to see the final vote last night. I wonder how much involvement Trump had in it. I want to see how much that McCarthy agreed to will come to pass. I’m not putting any money on it. I think he will find a sneaky way to keep it from happening.
Anyway, we are now into the New Year. God Bless America.
