Afternoon Stella!

Afternoon, all ya’all! Humidity down, so I am sitting on my back porch in 92* heat, in the shade, with a nice breeze, not even a bit sweaty!
A friend is giving me her hot tub. It is 6’x8’ and hasn’t been used in years, but has been in the house so no weather damage. I will have my handy brother change out all the pipes, check the motor and heater, and put it on my back porch. Seems I can use it hot or cold, just have to keep the chemistry right.

89* right this minute. Not very “spring-y.” But I got all the plant children that needed repotting done today…and they’re clean and happy!

Mornin’ All. Weather is the same as yesterday, blue sky, sunny, cool in shade, hot in sun. My son sent me a short video of my youngest granddaughter on the rocking horse his father made for him when he was born. He had refinished it and all three girls now have used it. It was so cute to see her rocking on it. She is about 18 mo. now. My reason for moving Up North.
My friend came over yesterday and we packed all the Christmas decorations that I am keeping and made a box of things to take to Goodwill and a bag for the trash. She is a better worker than I am. I was ready to quit half way through. LOL. I also made a plan to move on from here. So it will be another busy day.
Hope your day is nice.

Mornin mom.
Mornin Stella, All.
Have not been paying much attention lately, mom, are you moving? if so, to where?
Finally made up my mind it is time for me to move on. Am totally completely alone here, the VA is no longer useful to me, and the rickety body is literally disintegrating.
Don’t move too far north, unless it is for fam who will help you. This last winter on the North Coast was a killer.
My :like” function is still not available to me, so pls take pity on my lack of “likes.”
Y’all have a Great Day!

Well, yes I am moving and it is Far North…….Montana. And, it is because my son and DIL and my granddaughters are there. Also, my DIL’s parents are there with them. They have all lived up North all their lives. I wouldn’t consider going past TN except for that. LOL

Hi mom! Glad you have a plan to move on. A bit cloudy today, but we expect a high of 83. I wore my summer clothes for the first time yesterday.

Ha. I practically bought a whole new wardrobe. It was on sale where I buy my clothes. They were selling the winter clothes really cheap so I figured I should go ahead and get what I know I will need. And, I only had a few things that weren’t really warm, but at least had sleeves in them. And, I only had a few long pants. I still need a flannel gown and warm robe. I also bought a coat for $50. It was originally $160 or so. I should be able to withstand a blizzard in it, it is so heavy, but I really like it.

I notice that it is still mostly in the 40’s in Montana now. It is supposed to be in the 50’s maybe for a while today.

Congratulations on all your preparations, Aus, Moving is a great undertaking. Sounds like you’re preparing well, physically and mentally. I look forward to your postings as you move “up” in the world!

Sounds good! Don’t forget gloves, hats and boots.

LOL. Boots!! I only own one pair of enclosed toe shoes along with a couple of pair of tennis shoes. This could be a problem.

I’d wait on the boots until you’re up there. They’ll have a whole different line of sub-zero type stuff.

I doubt I could find any down here anyway. 😀

By the time you get there, they will be on sale, probably. Also check out Lands End.

I bought my last winter coat from Land’s End (they are located in Wisconsin). List price was $175; I paid $75.

I really appreciate the beauty of nature and the serenity in your photographs, Stella.
It’s pleasant contrast to the asininity that confronts us each day.
There is much good in God’s creation.

Making shepherd’s pie for dinner – just about ready to put it into the oven. Picked a lousy hot day to do it, but the ground lamb was already thawed! Now I have the air conditioning on. The filling tastes great, though.

Will you share your recipe Stella?
I just happen to have some ground lamb. You often find recipes that are exceptional, and shepherd’s pie well-made is delicious!
If you can share, “Thank you”.

I followed this recipe loosely, but I made half as much. The recipe is in the description. I used parmesan instead of cheddar (I’m lactose intolerant) and half as much butter. I did use 2# of potatoes, but the filling contains only 1# of lamb, 2 carrots, 1/2 an onion, 1/2# of mushrooms (they needed to be used up!), 3 cloves of crushed garlic. I used some red wine rather than white, and my own mix of herbs (I used herbs de provence). I did use tomato paste and worcestershire, and some stock cubes I had in the freezer. I added both frozen peas and some frozen corn.
