Up early for my flight home. American changed my connecting flight from 1 to 8:45 p.m., leaving me sitting in Charlotte for over 8 hours. Yuck. Hope I can get standby for something earlier.

Got a change at 9:00 a.m. to be on a plane scheduled for 6:30 a.m. which has still not arrived here. Planned to leave at 11:45 a.m. if it gets here. In Charlotte I have 8 minutes to run 8 gates to my 1:00 connection to Gulfport, or have to wait who knows how long for the next plane.
Who says travel is not exciting? You guys need to keep my brain busy while I wait…. I’ll try to find cute things on the internet to share here.

LOL. There is so much truth in that chart. When I moved to Upstate NY I cried when it snowed two feet the night we got there. I thought we would have to wait until spring to look for a house. They all just laughed at me. They said we have 4 wheel drive.

In 1961, when I was sent to St Albans Radar Station, VT, we had a “gap-filler” radar in Blue Mountain Lake, NY. (Very upper NY state.) My first time over there, there was 6.6 ft of snow, and the contractor used a horse and sled to get us into the site. (It was autonomous, but needed quarterly inspection and antennae-greasing.) Sometimes, it just died, and a team would be dispatched for a 3 day excursion. Later, the contractor (a farmer) made enough off the gov’t to purchase a snow cat, so getting there was faster.

Made it to Charlotte NC. Now have the wait until 8:45 because my flight was just minutes too late for me to catch the 1:00 plane. They made me drink the Boost I brought for lunch before letting me go through TSA. Now I’ll have to eat expensive airport food. I won’t get home until 11:30 tonight because the drive is 1 1/2 hours.

Ate a brioche with pretty good chicken salad on it and some unsweetened tea. Can you imagine, people in North Carolina have unsweetened tea available for us Yankees? Been killing time reading old stuff in my aol mail inbox and deleting it. Only three more hours till boarding….

I drink mine unsweetened, too – get some funny looks and they make me repeat myself a lot……

Last year we left at 3:30 am to drive 130 miles for 6:15 check-in to have cataract surgery on my 2nd eye. The roads were treacherous, and our little Suburu was doing it’s ice dance most of the way. (Saw the undercarriage of an overturned motor home a few miles before our destination.) Doctor commented, “You guys from eastern Oregon are tough; my local patients cancel at the hint of snow.”
Couldn’t go another month with one eye corrected and one bad!!

G’day Wee, and happy weekend to all!
Yes, it was such a blessing as I still work (computer). No more marks on my nose or “Where’d I leave those glasses?” And…I can bait my own hook!!!

Went out to feed the ferals about 5 last night and the weather was already brutally cold. My heart goes out to the Truckers and farmers who are holding the line at the Sweetgrass/Coutts border.
The sun is shining brightly today so hopefully things will warm up a wee bit.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for ya czarina…hope you can fly out early :0)

So ‘maus, how cold is “brutally” for you today? -20? Or worse? Around here, blue sky and sun shining means it’s going to get colder, not warmer. Hope you have some warm-up coming!

Hey Tundra….it was about -10 degrees below last night at 5 when I went out, but the wind tore through my jeans like I wasn’t wearing any, so with wind chill it was probably about 20 below.
The forecast is telling us we’re in for some winds in the next seven days. Not sure if they’ll be cold artic winds or if they’ll be warming Chinook winds, but I’m definitely ready for some warmer weather…..
Hope you’re surviving all your snowfall…it does get old rather quickly….:0)
