    Map of surrounding area…

La Palma, also San Miguel de La Palma, is the most north-westerly island of the Canary Islands, Spain. La Palma has an area of 708 square kilometres (273 sq mi) making it the fifth largest of the eight main Canary Islands. The total population at the end of 2020 was 85,840, of which 15,716 lived in the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma and about 20,467 in Los Llanos de Aridane. (Wikipedia)

I’ve read that one of these islands has a set of dormant volcanoes, filled with rain water, that could cause a giant wave if they break apart. They would cause a “long slide” and that would trigger a tsunami of 1,200 ft. height, reaching Florida in less than 6 hours. Of course, that’s the end of FL, because the highest point in FL is less than 35 ft.
A similar occurrence in Hawaii happened when Maui split in half (about 60,000 years ago), causing a tidal wave of thousands of feet in height that struck South America.
IIRC, it is Las Palmas which is the potential threat, not La Palma, which has currently active volcanic activity.

Mornin’ All. Weather same. But, I have started the day off badly. When I threw Loki’s poop-bag into the doggie bin, evidently it stirred up a wasp and it got under my shirt and stung me. Worse yet, I shook it out and it seemed to be gone. But, instead it hid in my waistband and when I went inside, it stung me again. Then I had to chase it around the apt. and spray it. I couldn’t get it out of the kitchen and ended up spraying it there which I really hated to do. But, now I have two sting locations that are about 3 or 4 inches in diameter. I had put Afterbite on them and took some Apis but it still hurts. Guess I will take some Benydril next. Poor me. Hope you all started off you day better. 🙂

We have had three days of hard, hard rain storms. This is one of the most extended periods of really hard rains I’ve seen. My son who is a trucker called awhile ago and said he came through our area and saw a tree had been recently cut where it fell across the interstate.

Hope the weather is better wherever you are.

Litenmaus, if you read this I’m wondering what you got up to this summer? Andy special projects? We always talk about your extreme winter weather, I hope you enjoyed an awesome summer.

Hopefully it’ll be a good afternoon for you weatherwise, Menagerie. The sun is shining here and it’s 56 degrees heading to 61…very doable. Our rain for a couple days did nothing much but water the grass. I hate the idea of turning on the heaters but the kitties sure love it.

Hey Menagerie…This summer has flown….I’ve continued to do remodel work, I rescued another kitten and oh yes, I learned to drive a four wheeler..but no fun projects to report.

Wish you would send some rain our way….This summer has been a lot of hot days and almost no rain. Drought conditions in a lot of the state and the cattlemen around here are concerned about the lack of hay for their critters this winter.

The war on public safety: District Attorneys

‘The war on cops’ which American Experiment has been talking about since 2016, is only one part of a much broader war on the safety of Minnesotans which is being waged by people who are driven by an ideological belief that crime should not be fought. One element of this is District Attorneys, who are more interested in making laws than enforcing them.

Btw, a major project for George Soros is putting these racist haters in DA offices around the nation. LOTS of his ill-gotten cash is being put into campaigns to fool ignorant voters who seem to have no idea they are voting for criminality.

    A really useful charity!

PS: I can remember my dad combining small slivers of soap into new bars. I think that was a leftover from the Great Depression.
