HAPPY FENCE FRIDAY!
India…
Paramount Studios with the background showing the original 1926 gate known as the Bronson Gate (it’s on Bronson Avenue) and other original buildings, Hollywood, CA…

A couple of historical photos of the Bronson Gate…
Hard to say what year this is–maybe 1940. As was the practice in the past, those are extras (non-speaking roles) standing around the gate hoping to be noticed/hired for a day’s pay…
Perhaps a publicity shot or an actual scene from SUNSET BOULEVARD that famously used the gate to move the plot along…(1950, Starring Gloria Swanson and William Holden)….

Thanks Lucille…my biggest nightmare. I once wondered how the Venezuela military could turn against its own people; now we’re seeing exactly why and how this is accomplished. Program already-indoctrinated school kids that WE are domestic terrorists. Tucker makes the case in a mere 10 minutes, and this should be posted far and wide.
By the way, The Gateway Pundit is doing a stellar job covering these pressing news items; they are posting on Gab.com in generous amounts.

Weather, call me cynical but how much should we bet the woke brass will be on the lookout for some gal pretending to be a guy but not yet “fixed” who will get pregnant and she will be the first to wear the suit.
A socially engineered military leads to national destruction.

More than anything else the military has done, they have destroyed Honor.
Without Honor, there is no military.
(My uniform was civvies – there were no uniforms at that time. But by george, we all kept our Honor!)

Looks to me like they do have all the perks.
The Queen has said this will be delt with internally now; my question is: why the heck wasn’t it delt with interally before?
Harry [to Grandma]: “They’re picking on my wife.”
Grandma [to her ‘favorite grandson]’: “We’ll look into this immediately!”

Well, my view is, they probably thought they had and that little Missy was going along with what they agreed on. And, she either didn’t understand, or just decided to push harder for what she wanted. I mean, really, she thought Archie was going to be a Prince after all that they had agreed to?!

You are so right about the no duties but all perks attitude. Remember when she said she thought having to curtsy to the royals, both major and those more minor, was demeaning; and she saw no point to it? Mmmhuh, like she was the ONLY person being asked to perform such courtesies.
She really thought she could change the monarchy by her very presence and speaking out on “old-fashioned” (racist in her eyes) practices would be tolerated. Queen Elizabeth has chosen not to speak out politically since the family is not elected. The entire family works for “the firm” and is expected to follow protocol.
All the good she could have done within the rules wasn’t enough. She wanted the rules changed RIGHT NOW. When she didn’t get what she wanted, she left and took two royals with her. Lefties ruin everything.

Wee, I wish I could “like” this about a thousand times! Spot. On. I haven’t watched a second of the interview, and refuse to do so. Whiny little entitled liberals. One is a beotch who wears the pants and the other is a cringing milquetoast who says “yes, dear!”.

Mornin’ All. Just another sunny day here. Still packing and getting ready to go to the beach. All the stupid things in the news yesterday make me wonder what people are doing. I read somewhere that one of the National Guard died. They are not saying from what, but you have to wonder if it had something to do with what was done to the food. And, I can’t believe that they are not finding another food vendor after what we found out. Well, hope everyone has a nice day.

Oh my now I’m in trouble! I could spend hours at this site! Hahaha. Thanks. I’ll have to check it out later 😉

Always remember to keep your opals (and pearls*) from getting dried out! My father’s friend inherited his mother’s jewelry when she died. She kept the jewelry in a safety deposit box for years including a large opal. When he took the opal out it broke into small pieces basically almost dust because it had dried out! Opals love water.
* Anything that came from the ocean like pearls or coral a few times a year I rinse in warm/cool water to make sure they get good and wet. If they are not a silk threaded pearl strand I let them soak in water for a while. Make sure the water is not too how or cold or different from the temperature of the stone (think of hot water on a cold glass cracking it). You can crack an opal by doing that. I kept my jewelry in a safety deposit box for a couple of years while between houses and renting. I did not take them out and “water them”, and an antique pearl ring I had turned from beautiful and lustrous to dry and dull. I now need to get it “skinned” which is basically sending it to a pearl specialist in Hawaii and they re-tumble it to take the outer layers off until the dried out layers are gone. BTW It’s not like I have a huge collection so for the few small pieces I have it takes up no room and no time to soak them.
Also be aware emeralds are prone to cracking from mechanical shock (for example banging your hand and emerald ring on something by mistake).
Other little girls played with dolls, but for quite a while I had none so I collected pretty rocks which led to my love of jewelry and rock specimens.
Have a great day everyone! 😉

I immediately went and put my “fish” in water in case he was “dying.” My opal is not an expensive black opal but he’s carved into the shape of a male betta. I couldn’t get a good light, his “tail” has red highlights, but here “he” is in his bath.

I read up on how to clean them gently, and that Australian opals are pretty ok without water so I’m fine with letting “him” rest in water for awhile. Aren’t those black opals gorgeous?? And they’ve always been highly sought after.

Interesting about Australian opals and water. I’d be interested in knowing the link because I do have a couple of opals. I bought mine 40 and maybe 35 years ago, and the jeweler had said to get them wet regularly. I know the jelly opals look more watery, but I don’t know the real difference between African jelly and Australian opals geologically.
From the Gemological Institute of America https://www.gia.edu/opal Mineral: Hydrated Silica. Opal contains up to 20% water trapped in its silica structure. Tips & Advice Don’t expose an opal to extreme light, heat, or dryness. Opal has high water content. Although most opal is cured to make sure it won’t crack, it’s never a good idea to subject your opal to very dry or hot conditions.
With my luck I better just continue to “water” my jewelry every now and then. What the heck, it hasn’t hurt them so far & maybe it’s helped. 😉
The black opals are fascinating! Opal, especially the black opals are very interesting to me in their rough or semi-rough state.
I hope your fish liked his swim! 😉

Oh wow, that’s quite some pendant! Isn’t it amazing how opal can be carved?
The colors in opals are notoriously difficult to photograph.

That’s amazing! It looks almost jam-like that you could push and squish between your fingers. It has unusual colors as well the colors being in big patches. Very nice.
Now like the site weather posted below, I’ll be bad and spend much too time looking at them! 😉
Thanks for posting that!
Have to run and get work done now.
See everyone later,
Have a great day! 😉

Oh, my, YES! Send it over, WeeWeed!
I’ll accept the following also…
A mere $49,450 for this 6.75 carat Australian black opal c.1925 ring entitled “Night Escapade” set in platinum with diamonds.

I’m a bad, bad girl. I took a break & popped back in just to read and saw Lucille’s beautiful opal ring pic so I had to find a necklace to match. This necklace had a not very attractive opal, so I quickly drew one in to match Lucy’s ring 😉 Even with the less attractive opal it sold with an asking price of $21,000. It also is set with platinum and diamonds. I was surprised to find a setting so close to the ring. Perhaps you can wear them as a set Lucille! 😉
Sigh, I have too much work, so back I go!

G&C, be happy to wear your gift to a special occasion. Send it via a special jewelry courier, please.
I remember one time when my boss was searching for just the right piece of fine jewelry for his wife. Several pieces were sent to the office via special insured courier and I had to sign for the package. Unfortunately I didn’t get to model any of the necklaces for the day. LOL!

OK – I sent it right away by Acme courier. They sent some strange looking guy with long ears, a big long nose, and a fluffy tail. I hope it gets there! 😉

Good afternoon to all you Stellars…
Looks like we will have to put down our beloved yellow lab …
She’s about 8 years old, two days ago I noticed she wasn’t herself.
The vet say’s it is liver cancer, and aggressive.
Her routine labwork was done in February, about the 15th
and everything was normal
Her name is Ally
and she is the sweetest, friendliest dog we ever knew.
she doesn’t even know how to bare her teeth
never seen her do it
She is the lousiest guard dog ever
Now it looks like we will have to do the deed tonight
as she barely made it through the night.
The second time in a decade i’ve had to do this and
i’m beginning to think I am snakebitten with these rescue animals
We still have Sasha, our chocolate point Siamese
who turned me into a cat person single-pawedly
For the first time in my life I am considering not getting another pup-pup
hopefully time will cure this heartache
and I’ll want another pup-pup
thanks for listening everyone
God bless us all.
~MIKE

I’m so sorry, Mike. I know what it is like, but that doesn’t make it any easier for you. It’s good that you have another pet in the house at this time to help with the feeling of emptiness. Hugs and good feelings sent your way!

I am so sorry. Remember that you gave her a good life that she probably wouldn’t have had but for you. It is right and proper to grieve over someone you love. I had to put down my little Foxy after about 8 years because of cancer. And, it was very hard. I too, didn’t think that I could handle taking in another one. It took a few years but now I have Loki, another rescue.

Prayers for all of you, Mike – it’s so hard but it’s our last act of love for them.

So sorry Mike. I know how difficult it is. She has not by what you said been suffering long which is a blessing, as is the love and care you have given to one of God’s most wonderful animal creations. It will take time, but you are a good person – better than me. The heartbreak of an older dog brings me to tears, but think of how you made her life so much better.
God bless you.

Thank you all, for your kind words and prayers. I called my wife a little while ago and she cancelled the vet’s appt. for tonight. My beloved wife said she perked up a little bit today, she ate some chicken and rice, went out for a short walk and did some pees and poos. She’s moving around better and drinking some water, and I’m grateful to spend another night with her, possibly two, but I’m being optimistic.
I will miss letting her in at night when I get home from work, asking her, “you got toy? get a toy!” and she grabs one of her favorites, and the squeakfest is on.
She has a ginormous basket of toys but a few have been her favorite-
limey lambie
purple lambie
pink piggy
white cow
squeaky snakes (one red and one green)
I will usually spend about five to ten minutes on the landing just playing, petting, and whispering to her before I head upstairs to wash the day’s grind off.
Sasha will run into the bathroom when I go to take a shower and jump up on the sink, she wants me to dribble a small stream of water out of the faucet so she can dab her paws into it, then shakes the water off and grooms them. She’s a stitch.
Thank you again, dear readers, this turns out to be great therapy for me, your comments help keep me grounded in reality, and I can actually smile a bit writing about silly pet stuff.
And the best reminder out there, that life indeed goes on for now.
God Bless!

Oh Mike. Such a sad thing. My heart breaks for you and your wife. Our black lab Gracie is also 8 years old, and so far still in great shape. But I know the day you are facing now will come to us also, far sooner than we want. My DH walks 3 miles with her every day (she does about twice that distance with all her side forays) and it is the highlight of her day–even more than her supper, I think. We live in a rural area and she is never on a leash. They frequently encounter moose, but she is quite smart about these large and ornery wild animals and never approaches them. There is just nothing like a lab. She is my first, and now I can’t imagine ever not having one. As G&C says, there is a blessing in her not having to suffer long from a protracted illness. She’ll be waiting for you over the rainbow bridge. With toys.
