I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you! California actually allows DOGS on the beach??? What if a dog jumped up on a person who is allergic to them?? Xe could DIE!! This must stop immediately! The State legislature must pass 47 new laws to prohibit dogs on the beach and send their owners to prison for being sooo unwoke!

Looks like our dogs (and cats) are going to have to get used to another kid. The ancient dog will easily rise to the equation and the blond BD will just watch it go down. The terrierista is going to be an issue as the GS’s a toddler and the terrierista’s a terrierista. She should be good inside, maybe just accidentally bumping him in her ever-frantic display of ‘COME PLAY WITH ME PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!!!’ Outside’s going to be another thing as she just goes ape and tears up the ground. Gonna have to watch ’em closely.

Note that we’ve given up on the ‘Don’t you get up on that couch’ trip, we meet them halfway (?) and just cover the couches.
Cats taught Chez as a pup about couches, she will sleep on the top of the back of the couch with the cats. Ain’t unusual for there to be two cats and Chez all stacked up and snoring on the back of the couch.

I use a throw on my couch too. Dog is up here right now, and using more of the couch than I am.

You never know. My old dog Sassy was afraid of my grandson James when he was a toddler, and would do anything to get out of his way.

The two older dogs grew up with our GGS with the older ones still thinking of him as their puppy. Chez thinks of him as a littermate as she grew up with him. She’ll curl up with him on their airbed any time she can.
I think they’ll be OK, it’s just Chez’s exuberance and play style having that pit bull in her.

Mine was a Shiba Inu Beagle mix or so the rescue said, she looked like the RCA dog. Always a bundle of nervous energy but also a snuggle bunny and very attuned to me. When I hurt my neck (before I even knew it was hurt) at bed time she would curl up next to my neck.

Chez will cuddle up, just as Lucky the full pittie, at the slightest opportunity but if you make a slight move – zoom – she’s off.

My Grinner was just a snuggle bug but only with me. If I left her with someone (including my daughters) she would pace and pace all night long.

I really think she was mostly Jack Russell even though the family that gave her up claimed that she was Shiba Inu and Beagle.
Russell and Inu makes sense of both her looks and attitude.

Lotta times folks make up exotic pedigrees to try and make the dog more adoptable but what makes the dog adoptable is the dog.

She did have a “reserve” tag on her cage so we put our name on a waiting list they called us the next day saying that the first adoption fell through. She was absolutely terrified of flames of any type, even the stove burners scared her and she would pace or hide until the cooking was done.
Not really sure why she was given up but the family claimed that their son was sick.

There’s no telling what’s been done in their pasts to make them wary but after they get to trust you their fears will slacken.

She grew out of all her fears other than fire. It always scared her. And she was never too fond of men.

Yeah, one of those dogs that, considering the conditions he was found under, that some dogs are just MEANT to be with a certain person.
