A major topic of conversation this week on Twitter and Facebook is Parler, which is an alternative to Twitter. I have had an account for about a year, but haven’t used it at all until this week. Many prominent conservatives have opened accounts there, and some have left Twitter completely.
The name is pronounced the same as the word “parlor”, one definition of which is “A small lounge or sitting room affording limited privacy, as at an inn or tavern.” I have been pronouncing the word as it is in the French verb “parler” which in English means to speak, talk, tell, say, voice, converse. I guess their intent was to convey the meanings of both the English and the French!
To be honest, I am just learning how it works. I guess I expected it to be like Twitter, and it is to some extent. It seems a bit clunky to me so far, but it’s nice to be able to express yourself without the Twitter handslap. If you have been wondering about it, this video from Devin Nunes may help clear things up.
Interesting, thanks for the parler view.

Will have to try another time. I waited over 5 minutes and it wouldn’t load on my computer. May be that issue we sometimes have with trying to live in a hi-speed world with a 0.7 MBPS up/download speed or the sometimes incompatibility with Chrome I find.

Well, lost my “like” privileges. 🙄 Actually, I lost Firefox. It was completely gone when I rebooted. 🙄 I guess I will see if Chrome will work now since it seems to be all I have available. I have never had any luck with it in the past.

Them’s the kind of memories you can’t buy for any amount of dough, boy.

Okay, just a test: will everyone who got the dough, boy joke please “like” this post. Sometimes I wonder if Czar is too obtuse.

With her it’s curiosity, with me I’m satisfied sensing the groans in the atmosphere.

NOW, some almost 60 years later, I know why Mom gave me a dirty look when I sang the (H)inky-dinky parlez-vous ditty, I learned from a friends’ parent, when I was a little squirt! Aw Jeez, sorry, Ma!
Learn somethin’ new every day…
God bless all the Stellars

A few back I’d posted about the baby bird one of Czarina’s clients found and we ended up raising…into an adult starling. I’d mentioned how it was a remarkable mimic, just short of a parrot. Well while looking for something else I found:

Fascinating, I once saw a crow bend a piece of wire into a hook to get a treat out of a graduated cylinder.

I Have a Mac, and didn’t see it the other day. Guess I’ll try again. I’m sure they don’t want to make it too convenient to find. TYVM 😉

Listened to the Nunes vid yesterday, so searched around for Parler.
Alas, Parler is not available for anonymous viewing as is twitter. One must join to read anything at al on Parler.
Well, phooey. One more thing i refuse to join. (joining not my forte`)

It took a while, slow and several steps, but I joined. Started to listen to the video, but had to go to work. Will try tomorrow. If nothing else, I’ll be counted in their followers. Never used Twitter, so I can’t say I understand what it is for.
