10 Types of Apples Thought to Be Extinct From Pioneer Days Are Discovered in the Pacific Northwest
    By Andy Corbley – April 19, 2020

What do you have planned for your retirement? While enjoying your grandchildren or traveling across Italy might be some things you’re considering, we can not imagine that many of you would answer: “I’m going to scour the wilderness of America looking for abandoned and forgotten pioneer homesteads in the hope of discovering forgetting genetic strains of common crops”.

Well, finally got some usable rain, 1.1″ in about an hour and a half. We’re behind for the year so looking forward to a wettish week. Y’all send your unneeded rain thisaway.

We’re supposed to have rain a couple of days this week, but they’ve promised that before and it didn’t happen. I prefer to get a bit of help watering the flower beds. Our gardeners don’t bother with the beds but they do turn on the sprinklers for the common grassy areas.

      Morning Wee! 😂!

I have 3 friends brave enough to take a walk in the woods !!! Yay!!!!!

It’s so nice to get out in the fresh air, and it’s supposed to be 66° on Wednesday! Woo hoo!!

I think I’ll make a sign and leave on a trail somewhere, “Stay on the trail, and, Epstein didn’t kill himself.” I’m sure folks would appreciate it until a ninny took it down.

          Hi Menagerie,

Walking in the fresh air is good for the body heart mind and soul isn’t it? The fact that you got to walk with your son makes it especially special.

We’re going again on Friday. Possibly Thursday, did you see many people, something that has really struck me is how friendly people are, almost everyone says hi. 3 young men out on their bikes stopped when my friend and I were taking pictures and asked us if me if I’d like them to take a picture of us 🙂 .

This is a picture I took as we stepped off the beaten trail 🙂 .

There were so many people there. One of the parking lots was full of empty trailers so many people were out boating. The mayor has closed everything in town except this one park. I have to drive about 45 minutes to get there, but it is worth it for the walk.

It sure chaps my behind that I have so many wonderful walking trails and tracks minutes from my home that are blocked off. I think my blood pressure goes up instead of down these days when I walk, and I am not kidding. I can’t seem to stop fuming the whole danged time.

              Understood.

I don’t think any of the parks or trails in our area are closed. The playgrounds do have signs on them that state that they are closed but they’re not roped off just one simple sign.

Evers our governor is a socialist, he was elected because so many people here were so mad at Scott Walker for being such a anti-Trumper that they didn’t vote for anyone. I held my nose and voted for Scott. I don’t even know when our state is supposed to open up again, I’m doing what I want to do, the I want to do it, shopping at the store that gave Evers the finger and is still selling “non-essentials” such as seeds. plants, toys and electronics, the rest can go to hell.

Pull me over to ask me where I’m going and I’ll sue them for a violation of my civil rights.

Just remember this too shall pass, and when you’re walking breathe in the beauty and out the anger. Call on the promise of God’s peace…Not always but this is one of those things where I have peace, we are so far gone as a nation, as a world, So many people are just laying down and saying “Yes Master,” that my view is why not be at peace, either the world as we know it is ending, Christ is returning, or we are going to have a raging mad war on our own soil, brother against brother, nothing I can do about any of those things so why not be happy with what sunlight and beauty there is until we see where we are tomorrow, and the day after that and the day after that…

Prayer my Sweet friend…..and thank you for all of your prayers….

Hinds County in Mississippi, the state’s most populous (and Democrat heavy) county is now the ‘seat’ of the state’s COVID-19 infection. The counties immediately surrounding it are also some of the most heavily infected, but that’s to be expected. The three counties along the Gulf Coast are in that ‘many of the cases’ category, as is Desoto County, a bedroom community for Memphis, TN.

The infection patterns are understandable as the most infected counties had and still have more traffic while some others are statistical creations – like our one county that has zero cases but also has zero hospitals. Hospitals are trying to downsize their resident COVID recovery beds and get back to paying bu$ine$$ as usual ASAP though they’ll still have some patients rotating through for a while.

With recent leaked government reports showing that heat and humidity are fatal to the virus so a pure cure is jes raht ’round the corner here.

Lovely encouraged me to post this…

My cousin died a few days ago, after a long battle with COVID-19. He was a retired full Colonel in the Marine Corps; his wife is trying to figure out how to have a funeral, with full military honors and the family present, in these uncertain times. It is all complicated by the fact that she is in isolation at home, recovering from COVID herself… So no one has been able to see her and physically comfort her. It’s been very hard.

They both are dedicated members of their church. He was a faithful and committed Christian who did more years of lay ministry than I can count. His life and faith touched countless people, and he was much loved and respected. They passed their faith down to all their children and grandchildren.

When the doctors determined that he was dying, and there was nothing else that they could do, they called his wife at home and then put the phone up to his ear, so that she could speak to him. Although he was sedated and possibly unconscious, we KNOW that people have reported being able to hear what was said to them. I honor the doctors for doing that.

Even more do I honor them for this: they allowed one of the ministers of his church–the one my cousin had worked with for years–to be with him during his last hours. He held my cousin’s hand and reviewed all the years of ministry they had done together, to remind my cousin of what he had done in the name of the Lord. He stayed until my cousin died, and then was able to call my cousin;s wife to let her know that her husband had died peacefully, in his sleep.

Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Really good news! My Costco order is being shopped as we speak and is scheduled to be delivered sometime between 5:15 and 6:45 this evening. I really loaded up on this one (almost $200 worth). It will be interesting to see how much of it I will actually receive.

Getting everything on my list, with only two substitutions. Both of those are acceptable; one is frozen veg and the other is fresh ground beef instead of frozen chubs. The good news is the fresh ground beef is reduced in price to equal the frozen.

Sweden’s Chief Epidemiologist: Our Open Approach To Virus Seems To Be Working

The chief epidemiologist and top strategist for the Swedish government dealing with the coronavirus crisis, who championed the effort in Sweden to avoid a nationwide lockdown to deal with the issue, noted the slowing growth of new coronavirus cases in his country, saying that the numbers of people who had contracted the virus had slowed the growth of spreading the disease.

Anders Tegnell stated, “According to our modelers, we are starting to see so many immune people in the population in Stockholm that it is starting to have an effect on the spread of the infection. Our models point to some time in May.” Acknowledging the roughly 1,500 people who have died in his country as well as the 14,385 people in Sweden who have tested positive for coronavirus, Tegnell said the situation “is not a failure for the overall strategy. It is a failure to protect our elderly who live in care homes,” as the New York Daily News reported.

Protect the vulnerable. That’s the key.
