Stella, I read about your fall yesterday. Sorry about that, and I hope the bruising is mild. And that poor Tucker is out of timeout and giving his human smooches!
Good to hear you are up and well! Keep using the ice for at least another day. When the rainbow colors start moving down your face, you can use warm packs to help the papaya dissipate the bruise. You may want to hide for about a week…..
Happy it wasn’t worse. Many women break their wrists, as they put their hands out as they fall. If there isn’t bruising, put the warm compresses on your arm.
I had a 70 yr old friend who tripped over a shoe when she stepped backwards and put down both hands to break her fall and ended up breaking both wrists. Lucky for her, she had a grown granddaughter who wanted to take care of her and she healed fast.
Scrapes hurt so much b/c skin protects all of your insides, so it sends loud alarms of pain when it is breeched: “Danger, Will Robinson!” Maybe Tundra knows something to ease the pain.
I was absent yesterday, so am just learning of this now. So sorry for your mishap, Stella, but really really glad you didn’t break the bones in your forearm, a common result of a FOOSH in us mature ladies (Fall On Outstretched Hand), as czarina notes. Did you detail this in the General Discussion? I’ll have to go back and look.
The Neosporin likely helps because it has a numbing agent. Otherwise it is an anti-fungal/antibacterial, which you likely don’t need but isn’t hurting, so go for it. I agree with czarina’s recommendations above and hope this resolves quickly. And yeah, stay home or wear large sunglasses. The bruises are likely to get uglier before they get better.

From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25.
An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States.

My cousin is still in remission, still expected to die from the type of cancer as it apparently always comes back so it is really not called “remission” but I’m not at the doctor appointments so I don’t really have a clear version of what his exact status is at the moment. He has gained some weight and is looking forward to going to his little summer house as soon as the weather is warm enough.
IIRC, last summer he was determined to enjoy what he thought would be his last summer there. I am glad to hear that he is better, and looking forward again to his summer retreat. Thanks for the update!
It was actually two summers ago that we thought would be his last! It really is a miracle, I can’t thank you, and there’s enough for your prayers.

Medical breakthrough in Israel: a lung was removed from the body of a cancer patient, cleaned and returned
At the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, Israel, part of the Rabin Medical Centre, for the first time a lung cancer patient has undergone surgery in which his entire left lung was separated, taken from his body, the cancerous tumor it contained removed and the now-healthy lung reinstalled successfully back in his body to re-join its counterpart, through which the patient had continued to breathe during the extended operation, which took many hours. This patient, who is in his 40s, had suffered a cancerous tumor which eventually blocked the main airway in his left lung, leading to its collapse.
At first, doctors thought there would be no choice but to permanently resection the damaged part of his lungs, as is usually done in such cases, which would expose him to serious risks until the hospital could find him a donor lung for a transplant.
With this new form of surgery, however, there is no need to wait for an organ transplant and, if successful, it can also allow a patient to return to the normal routines of life without damaging chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
“Cleansing” human organs of tumors in this manner is at an early stage and the surgeons said it may change cancer treatment everywhere in some cases, obviating the need for lung transplants and rejection risk and waiting times associated therewith.
…
“The new method may change the way patients treat cancer in the world,” says Prof. Dan Arav, director of the Heart and Chest department in Beilinson, who performed the surgery alongside Dr. Faisschowitz, “Removing the diseased organ and removing the tumor, in some cases, is a development in scientific thinking. The idea has now been shown to be effective in lung cancer, and may later be applied to other organs and other forms of cancer.”

While COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus, is capturing attention around the world, cybercriminals are capitalizing on the public’s desire to learn more about the outbreak. There are reports of phishing scams that attempt to steal personal information or to infect your devices with malware, and ads that peddle false information or scam products.
In one example, a phishing email that used the logo of the CDC Health Alert Network claimed to provide a list of local active infections. Just got this from Lifelock re beware of emails and phone calls. Call the CDC directly if you have questions about your area’s vulnerability:
Message:
While COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus, is capturing attention around the world, cybercriminals are capitalizing on the public’s desire to learn more about the outbreak. There are reports of phishing scams that attempt to steal personal information or to infect your devices with malware, and ads that peddle false information or scam products.
In one example, a phishing email that used the logo of the CDC Health Alert Network claimed to provide a list of local active infections. Recipients were instructed to click on a link in the email to access the list. Next, recipients were asked to enter their email login credentials, which were then stolen.
