     My sister who lived in B.C., Canada, said she had to put colorful scarves on her two Westies when they went out in the snow so she could find them.

   Yeeeeeee Haaaaaa dog mushing fans! The season is in full gear here in Alaska. Great photo up above, Stella, thank you! The Yukon Quest began last Saturday in Fairbanks and is headed for Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. There are 15 teams running this year (it is a MUCH smaller race than Iditarod, which currently has 57 teams registered) and they are about at the halfway point. DH and I were glad to see that our friend Allen Moore (Aliy Zirkle’s husband) is running the Quest again this year; our Christmas card from Aliy said he might not, he just had shoulder surgery in September. And he is in 3rd position so far, so hopefully his shoulder is doing well. The Quest doesn’t have nearly the media coverage that Iditarod has, and fewer checkpoints, so is harder to follow. Can’t wait for Iditarod, which starts on March 7th! Go dogs!
