Republicans in the Senate secured enough votes Friday evening to reject Democratic efforts to extend the Trump impeachment trial and call new witnesses, as the final vote on whether or not to remove President Trump from office could drag into next week.
After hours of debate during the day, the Senate voted 51 to 49 to block a Democratic motion to call new witnesses. The vote came after vehement demands from Democrats to call former national security adviser John Bolton to testify about the Trump-Ukraine saga.
Two Republicans — Utah Sen. Mitt Romney and Maine Sen. Susan Collins — voted with Democrats for new witnesses.
It’s unclear exactly what comes next. The final up-and-down vote — amid the widespread expectation that Trump will be acquitted in the end — could continue into next week, as senators must contend with motions and potential debate by senators on the floor or in closed session.
Interesting that they held the vote basically behind closed doors with no chance for the Senators to justify themselves.
A clearer signal that the Republicans are getting behind the president could not be sent.
They swept the knee and took the democrats platform away.
5 – 10 minutes for each Senator to justify their vote.
Nah.
And of course it is a safe bet to know I’m pulling out my favorite POTUS photo.

I just wish they’d vote to acquit.

It will be good to get Trump acquitted, but that was never really in doubt, whatever happened in this “Trial” it was just a stunt to “dirty Trump up”, and it has, at least as far as DIM voters go.
Cryin’ Chuck has already announced that “An acquittal will have no value”
Even if they had more witnesses the DIM base would not accept the verdict.. so what is the point?
The original outline was, after “no extra witnesses” vote to have the closing arguments from each side, then a vote on the actual Impeachment. All suposed to be finished tonight, no matter how long it took. To clear the way for Trump before Stae of The Union. But now….. the Senators apparently want time to opine and justify themselves to their electorate voters??
IMHO the Republicans are again letting themselves be PLAYED by the DIMS

What SHOULD have happened is the case should have been dismissed… probably without “The House” being allowed to present oral arguments. The Senators could SEE the process in the House and that it was a travesty and not even a proper “investigation”.
I do think that there should be a CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION of the Impeachment hoax.. as just another move by Deep State Coup.

But of course NOTHING will happen to the plotters… They will continue to keep their jobs even.

None of this is about finding the truth or solutions. It always will be, it always has been about delegitimizing President Trump’s presidency and saving the criminals in DC.
Always view what is happening here through the prism of criminals fighting to stay out of the gas chamber because that literally is what is happening (and to hold onto their riches) .
We will have 5 more years of this sh*t and then if Pence, Don Jr. or Ivanka runs we will have 8 more years of it.
It has zero to do with concern for our country or our Constitution.

The FARCE continues…
The Senate Trial continues tonight (Starting now). The next step will be a vote tonight on a procedural resolution (open to amendments) setting out the process. Likely:
Monday: Closing arguments by House Managers and Defense.
Tuesday: Open deliberations. Senators speak.
Wednesday: A final vote on the articles of impeachment
Cryin’ Chuck is AGAIN doing a series of “Amendment” motions.. calling for each witness (and document)… as already done… and we just voted NO WITNESSES or DOCUMENTS!!!!!!
Each being voted on and turned down 53 – 47.
This is INSANE

They wanted the vote to be Wednesday so that President Trump wouldn’t be acquitted before the State of the Union address on Tuesday.

Cryin’ Chuck made a “parliamentary inquiry” asking Chief Justice John Roberts’ to be a tie breaker if needed. Roberts says “NO”
That is a sliver of good news. The last thing we need is Roberts assisting in this farce

We just got a 51 – 49 vote. I heard Mittens and Collins break ranks on a couple of witnesses, one being Bolton.
