It is overcast in Centrl FL, too. But it is very bright anyway, not dark like in the picture. And, it is 80* and breezy.

Mornin’. You getting the wet weather we had last night? Or still dry. In Miami we always said there were 4 seasons: hot and wet, hot and dry, cool and wet, cool and dry. Seems you’ve been in cool and dry. People played beach volleyball in swimsuits alot in January. Not I, of course; I hated volleyball.

Nope. Still waiting on rain. Don’t see any in the forecast and even then it is like only 4% chance. But, it has been perfect weather in the last few days, not even too high humidity. It will be a different thing come summer. Yeah, January can be really pleasant.

Life isn’t over: how best to communicate with people living with dementia
by University of Bristol – May 30, 2019
From communicating diagnosis to subsequent everyday communications, researchers wanted to learn more about how support workers, practitioners or volunteers and friends talk with people with dementia, and what works best so that both people can have a good conversation.

6) President Trump is proven correct on withholding aid to Puerto Rico due to corruption.
Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced fired the island’s emergency management director on Saturday, after a video showing aid sitting unused in a warehouse went viral on social media. Some of the aid has allegedly been sitting in the warehouse since Hurricane Maria struck in 2017.
“There are thousands of people who have made sacrifices to help those in the south, and it is unforgivable that resources were kept in the warehouse,” Vázquez said in a statement.
Garced said in a statement that she has ordered Secretary of State Elmer Roman to conduct a “thorough investigation into the mishandling of emergency aid in a warehouse in Ponce,” CBS News correspondent David Begnaud reports.__CBS News

8) The human soul.
“This soldier, I realized, must have had friends at home and in his regiment; yet he lay there deserted by all except his dog. I looked on, unmoved, at battles which decided the future of nations. Tearless, I had given orders which brought death to thousands. Yet here I was stirred, profoundly stirred, stirred to tears. And by what? By the grief of one dog.”

I’m sure some of you have seen this interview. It is very interesting and worth the time. There are a lot of good discussions and stories; I really enjoyed his explanation of the 2008 financial crisis. Also his inside look at the 2016 presidential campaign and the infighting in the Trump White House.

I had to stop Lipitor – got terrible muscle cramps in my back and couldn’t sleep. Within 36 hours of stopping Lipitor, the muscle cramps and pain went away.
I have an appointment with my cardiologist on the 29th and will discuss then, but I’m taking phytosterols in the meantime.

Same here, a statin sensitivity, I’m over 65 and diabetic so I was at greater risk. My cardiologist with my nephrologist’s concurrence moved me to Ezetimibe. I added 2 grams of phytosterol complex (they add it to a number of foods to help lower cholesterol) and by watching my diet I got my blood-lard levels down to normal.
I remember when statins were first introduced, isolated from Japanese red yeast rice, and docs were saying it was such a wonder drug that it should be put into the public water supply. Then the muscle and kidney damages starting showing up (“Oh no”, my doc said, “it only very rarely happens!”, then my nephrologist found my myoglobin levels shot up…
I like the way the drug industry has now come up with a ‘newer and safer’ statin alternative. But wait! Wasn’t the old one so safe that we should put it in the water???

Apparently older women are particularly susceptible to the muscle cramping/pain.
LikeLiked by 2 people
The cramping and pain were with me but my doc sorta shook it off, his thinking being more that lowering my cholesterol was more important than my muscles breaking down, which was part of the pain. Luckily my nephrologist really, really watches out for me, my kidney issues dialed back to almost normal under him, I just lucked out when I found him.

We’ll see what the cardiologist says. I think some of the other drugs I take may increase cholesterol.

Quite possible – the side effects of some drugs meant to treat our conditions provide a whole new revenue stream for the docs.

I’ve read that Lipitor has a number of debilitating side effects. Sleep deprivation brings an additional set of side effects. Hopefully your doctor can find something which works better for you.
I’ve been having a problem since 2008 (except for the time I spent in Canada) with “The Hum” which affects a whole lotta people and which I’d never experienced in the 66 years I lived in California. It’s bizarre since most people do NOT hear it and it gives rise to doctors considering it psychosomatic.
If you’ve not heard of the phenomenon, here’s an article describing it…
“A Maddening Sound”
Is the Hum, a mysterious noise heard around the world, science or mass delusion?
By COLIN DICKEY – April 8, 2016
https://newrepublic.com/article/132128/maddening-sound
The other night it was so loud I absolutely could not sleep and so got up and did two loads of wash. At least it can cause a person to be productive on occasion! LOL!

And we gots somethin’ like it here and I’ve been hearing it for years. T’aint the septic pump, tain’t my mom’s oxygen concentrator and I can only hear it at night when it’s real still. I can hear it in bed, it’s like a very low hum (that’s why I thought it was the septic) and outside it’s like a just-about 60 cycle hum.
There’s absolutely nothing within miles of us, ain’t the trains about 6 miles east, they sound much different. Just one of life’s little mysteries.
