Honestly, I don’t know if I believe the Republicans have the guts to stand up for the President or not.

Talk is cheap. Now it’s time for action. I don’t know if the Republicans are capable of it.

:0) I know that the Senate is a nest of vipers rhea, I know that they could act with bias and political fervor just as the House did, but…

This time Nancy Pelosi’s actions threaten the institution and power of the United States Senate. I think even Mittens can see the political ramifications of voting against Republicans on this one.

        :0) Hope springs eternal.

Didn’t see it. I’m not watching much of it at all. I would get too angry. Heard about a minute of Schumer and that put me on the edge.

Eventually we will return to the rule of law or we will not exist as aa Republic.

This entire coup is a breach of so many laws and common sense. It is an attack on the sovereignty of our nation. I trust that with President Trump at the helm we are going to win the war.

I hate the entire Coup Crew and believe that a lawful execution of each of them would be fitting punishment for their attempt to destroy our country. They have declared war on the United States.

He was wrong about one thing: this is not the end. As this impeachment will fail in the Senate, the Dems will have to find ANOTHER high crime to pursue. As he said, the House has had seven prior efforts since inauguration. They will continue, even after 2020.

    McConnell did good.
It seems he can not simply REJECT the silliness from the House and dismiss the charges… NOW… but I see no point in running even a sham trial. The “Articles of Impeachment” are INVALID (IMO)

Your opinion is correct, SCOTUS set precedent as to Article 2, POTUS has the right to refuse to appeal any demand of him.

Supreme Court ruling pulls rug out from under article of impeachment

      https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/474710-supreme-court-ruling-pulls-rug-out-from-under-article-of-impeachment?amp

Article One is simply unsubstantiated Bullsh*t. There is zero evidence to support Article One.

This is not a Constitutional impeachment it is an attempted coup.

Not to mention that right now Mitch McConnel could void the impeachment because Nancy Pelosi did not follow the law.

Because we are not democrats we are patriots.

We are a country of laws not men. This mess is over a century in the making, it’s not going to be fixed in 4 years or by resorting to being a nation of men.

What you are suggesting basically amounts to civil war. We did that once. It may come to that again, but I for one am willing to see if we can right the ship without killing a whole hell of a lot of people.

I am not suggesting civil war. There are lots of things that people say are “unconstitutional”… illegal… and yet they are done. There seems to be nobody ultimately “in charge” who can say…. “NO!”

The process done by Schiff was contrary to rules, time after time, but there seems to be nobody who can point that out. Declare the findings invalid etc.

This in not how a nation of laws works. The effect of the the actions that you are suggesting people take would indeed result in civil war. And again it may come to that.

We have SCOTUS to interpret the Law, (forget all the appellate courts), so I agree with your sentence “I see upholding the law as worth a try to AVOID “civil war”.”

Upholding the Law means using the courts until the courts are proven corrupt beyond repair. Some might argue that we are there, I would disagree.

What we can’t have is people who use their own knowledge/interpretation of the law, using their own emotions, and dragging people off to the gallows even if they are 100% correct in their interpretation of the law.

                  We aren’t there yet.

Knowledge of the law, correct interpretation of the law, is not authority to be judge jury and executioner.

People are stupid. One guy on Facebook made the claim that witnesses are needed in the Senate so that Trump can prove he is innocent. I asked him if he had ever heard of “innocent until proven guilty”, and that President Trump doesn’t have to prove anything.

Trump in effect, evoked the Constitution by claiming “Executive Privilege” (and went along with that being ruled on by SCOTUS)… yet THAT was one of the things he was Impeached for?? Go figure?

No real way of telling what President Trump was impeached for because the Articles of Impeachment are not cohesive.

Ask anyone who supports the impeachment/coup to articulate why President Trump was impeached and what laws he broke. The question is unanswerable because the coup is not based in law it is simply a political ploy.

Every polling station across the country MUST have a Republican monitor, perhaps even an undercover camera recording what’s going on. I hope James O’Keefe has this in the works for major polling stations in swing states.

Nancy and her evil cohorts are planning to steal the Senate and retain the House. If the Presidency should become theirs also, then full scale dismantling of our Constitution will be the order of the day. The Dershowitzes, the Turleys, all the Dems of conscience (a rarity, of course) who pay allegiance to that great document of the republic won’t be able to stop the end of our nation.

BTW, FOX continues to use an old photo showing Paulie standing behind Mitch. Something, indeed, is up…a private joke by the people in charge of posting FOX YouTubes, a diss to McCarthy, a smirking Never-Trumper as their symbol without having to verbalize it?

I see a bit of a “Conspiracy Theory” that maybe the point of this “Impeachment” and the delay in sending to Senate… is to add weight to the legal shenanigans already underway to have Mueller Grand Jury evidence (and other info like Trump financial documents) released. I HOPE that there is no precedent to waiver the confidentiality of GJ material. That would be a travesty. An affront to the basic cornerstone of Western Justice.. THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE. You CAN NOT release FAILED evidence.
However.. ANYTHING seems possible these days. The “Muh Russia” probe is REGARDED as FACT even after failing.

As I have mentioned before… I first saw UkraineGate reported in UK Media… reported as FACT… that there was evidence that “Trump colluded with Ukraine Government to interfere with the 2020 election… AS HE DID IN 2016” when he did the same with Russia. So.. given that mindset… all the evidence in The Mueller Russia Probe.. is seen as evidence of Trump doing the same sort of stuff in 2016 as he is now trying ahead of 2020. It all makes perfect sense if you are a sufferer of TDS.. Imprinted with the notion that “Trump Colluded with Russia to beat Hillary in 2016”

The formal basis for the State of the Union Address is from the U.S. Constitution:

The President “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” Article II, Section 3, Clause 1.

It could be done in the Senate chamber.

Funniest thing I’ve heard lately is a former state Dem Rep whining about democrats. Not because it’s wrong, unconstitutional, the President did nothing to be impeached for, not even because it hurts the country. He was whining because they are destroying the party at the state level in the majority of the states. Conservative states, even in liberal pockets will become extinct. Obama built the coffin and the damn idiots in D.C. are nailing it shut.

I hope he’s not just being over dramatic, but if not then I hope we don’t get a lot more of them that just change parties, but their policies, goals and agendas are the same.
