U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings, one of the most influential Democrats in Congress and a key figure in the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump, died on Thursday at age 68.
The cause of death was “complications concerning longstanding health challenges,” his office said in a statement. Cummings had been absent recently from Congress due to health concerns including heart and knee problems.
According to Wikipedia, Cummings underwent surgery to repair his aortic valve in May 2017 and was absent from Capitol Hill for two months. In July 2017, he developed a surgery-related infection but returned to work. Cummings was later hospitalized for a knee infection. On October 17, 2019, Cummings died at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the age of 68 from, his spokeswoman stated, “complications concerning longstanding health challenges”.
The Huffpost is reporting that Cummings died at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Baltimore at approximately 2:30 a.m.
He has been ailing in the past several years, and used a motorized scooter and a walker.

Probably will. There will be a special election (not yet formally announced). Cummings was in that job since 1996 (13 elections, I think).

What a shock! How we live and what we believe in this life will be reflected in the next, for good or evil. To be spiritually repentant means to turn from our sins–do a 180 and walk away–confess them, asking forgiveness for the ways in which we hurt God, our fellow humans or ourselves by going against His teachings, and perhaps making restitution to right those wrongs.
God does not wish that anyone should perish without reconciliation to Him. I pray that in his last days, Elijah Cummings turned away from his sins with a truly repentant heart and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ to save him.

Betcha it was MRSA.
Dad had cancer, but died from MRSA infection at his chemo port.
Mom had severe COPD, but died from esophageal MRSA.
MRSA is contracted in so many hospitals, no one even reports it anymore. But MRSA was, and still is, epidemic in our hospitals, most especially after surgeries..
Like drug OD deaths, no one cares.
May Rep Cummings and his family find Our Lord’s Mercy and Peace in Cummings’ afterlife.

Unfortunately, according to reports that Rush mentioned this morning, among his last acts on this earth was signing fake “subpoenas” to continue the impeachment hoax. That, my friends, is sad indeed.
