When I was a teenager, we had a tabby cat that liked to play with marbles. We had a large room with a terrazo floor and no rugs. He would hit the marble as hard as he could and knock it across the floor. We had dents in the baseboards all around the room. LOL

It’s interesting to watch our csats change as they get older. The Fat Thing and Arbi the Russian Blue have slowly changed over the years from living with us as their live-in servants to the point where they now beg for pats and scratches.

Arbi was a semi-feral cat at the local arboretum but she decided she was going to come home with us. She actually walked the 300+ feet from the office to our truck, hopped into the truck and rode ‘home’. That was about 6 years ago and from that day forward it’s as if this were her house, she lived here and our function was to meet her wants and needs. Lately though she’s been crawling into laps, into bed, hopping up onto vantage points and asking for stroking/pats with a particular voice.

Same with the Fat Thing. He never goes outside, his world is the house and it’s his world. He’s always been accommodating but not outgoing-friendly. Now he’s like glue. he’s suddenly into bed before I am and I can’t get to sleep before I give him a nice scratching and rubdown. If he doesn’t get enough he’ll paw and nip at you until he does, then he’ll park up against one of us like a second skin. He’ll also stop any of the other cats from coming into the bedroom – it’s all his.

    Cats…never a dull moment.

My feral indoor cat has taken to sleeping in a good sized Walmart delivery box I sat in the hallway to use as a potential “give-away” box for the animal shelter thrift shop. Luckily I’ve received other boxes since then because he has taken over the original box including packing paper and gets quite upset if my older female Calico Tabby comes near it.

Last night I heard him pulling the paper around the hall and playing with a piece of the box which had come off. Ah, yes, life with felines is never boring.

We were out watering the fruit trees south of the house (Grandma’s National Park) this evening, and orange Outside Mickey, “MickeyO” came out to hang around, jump up in a tree, etc. and ended up sitting on the orange tractor watching us. He owns the front yard.
