    Love that photo at the top, Stella! There are numerous historical photos of sled dogs pulling railroad carts during that era in Alaska. And these dogs are wearing harnesses, so I suspect they’re getting a rest break in this photo. I count 9 dogs in the photo, but the small one by his right elbow is probably a companion dog, not a puller. Eight dogs would be enough dogpower to make that little cart fly like the wind.

    Wicked Son had to let his beloved Yorkie-mix go, as Obstreperous GDaughter stole him & refused to give him back.
    So WS bought himself a new dog – a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Ever heard of it? Ya, me neither. Guess Ridgebacks were used to hunt lions. smh

    Anyways, here is the Rhodesian Ridgeback –

    The two should work well together. The Ridgeback is “strong willed, independent, and sometimes domineering, must be guided with a firm but fair hand from puppyhood, and can be too much hound for the novice dog owner.”
    Basic description of WS, but WS never hunted lions. Not that I know, anyways.

      One of Czar’s sons has had them since the early 2000’s. Perfectly nice dogs. Go to doggie day care for socialization & play dates.
