Today, General Montgomery lands in Normandy, sets up HQ in Chateau de Creully
General Sir Bernard Montgomery passes German POWs while being driven along a road in a jeep, shortly after arriving in Normandy, 8 June 1944.
A snippet of an account by Jack Swaab, an artillery officer with the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division. He had kept his diary throughout the North African campaign and his unit had then returned to England. They arrived off the coast of Normandy on the 7th June and it was some time before they could get ashore.
Among things I noted coming ashore were the lovely fields of wild flowers enclosed by barbed wire and the grim skull and crossbones sign of the word ‘MINEN’ — MINES …a wonderful bunch of huge red poppies growing alongside some white peonies … the dusty roads which made one’s jeep throw up a dust wake like a destroyer.

Good morning Sand, busy one for me, I made risotto, went to the farmers market, out for the with my friend, mowed the front lawn and did a couple loads of laundry 🙃!

Wow! That is a lot. I’ve been the designated driver recently for hubby and then today for my younger DD. Hubby is in an orthopedic boot for a couple of weeks, so I’m playing chauffeur. Picked up groceries and bought some gorgeous pink and purple flowers for pots I have in front of the house. And we ate out for breakfast and lunch. I never drink soda anymore, but the orange Vanilla Coke I keep seeing ads for sounded so good, so I got one. My advice… Don’t do it. Not good. 👎🏻 Anyway… fun day so far here and sounds like yours has been very productive and rewarding!

Did you see 5 “youths” (though some of them at least 18) attacked a lesbian couple on a London train. For some reason their names are being withheld 😏.
I wonder how many Mohammedans there were, of course this is biased informed prejudice on my part but I’m all in with the odds. I’ll take the loss if I’m wrong.
All of the media is affectionately referring to the attackers as “a group of teenagers” .

I haven’t seen that yet. That’s horrible. The powers that be need to stop coddling these kids. The most recent “workplace” shooting in Virginia Beach which was committed by a black mu$lim is no longer in the news… he’s inconveniently the wrong race for their purposes. Ugh.

Well, we are finally getting a little rain. So far it is only about a 1/4 inch, but that is more than we have gotten in a long time. If you watch on the weather map it shows a big area of rain but we are at the bottom of it. So, may not get too much even though it may flood farther north. Nice having a rainy day.
