Italian parsley is a lovely garden herb. Great as a garnish, either paired with basil or on its own in pesto, or added to salads or any number of other dishes (I put it in meatloaf), it is very versatile in the kitchen. I also use it in place of cilantro in recipes, because cilantro tastes like soap to me.
Italians use it in gremolata as an accompaniment to meat dishes such as ossobuco. The French, Spanish and Brazilians use it in a similar way. Parsley is a key ingredient in several Middle Eastern salads such as Lebanese tabbouleh, and in falafel.

That sounds like a very fun morning! I’m meeting my DD at the kid’s hair cutting place to pick up GS and bringing him to my house to play and have his Mickey Mouse pancakes. He’s a skinny kid, but he can eat my husband under the table when it’s pancakes! LOL!

Farmers market is rained out 😦 but I got 2 awesome plants at the plant sale. the plants are in what’s called a Japanese moss ball, I’d never seen it before, I’ll post a couple of pictures later.

Something I had never heard of Japanese moss planting.
Apparently when the the moss gets light in weight you soak it in water, let it drain and then return it to its pot. You can also hang them without a pot 🙂 .

ALL of them. Only one cracked really bad, but didn’t empty into the carton. I cooked that one, but the rest all were so badly broken they completely emptied in the carton. Luckily only a small amount made it to the floor. 🙄

I just took some out of the freezer for another loaf. Hint: You can freeze those ripe bananas if you aren’t ready to bake. They are really soft and slimy when you defrost them, but that’s perfect for banana bread.

The things that can be frozen sometimes are unrecognized. One that somebody here mentioned is freezing leftover tomato paste. I do that all the time – freeze it in blobs of a couple of tablespoons, then put in a zip lock bag. Same with chipotle peppers and sauce. I would never use a whole can at a time. Another thing is butter. Buy it on sale and freeze it.

I found the coolest YouTube channel called Sailing Nahoa. It’s a couple who are sailing around the world on a 42′ catamaran. They have made it about half way, and are currently in the Phillippines. They are sailing west. They do a really good job.

Czarina believes ginger tastes like soap and cilantro like grass clippings. I eat candied ginger like…well, candy…and wallow in cilantro, one of my favorite tasty weeds.
I sneak ginger into some things I cook for her an as long as it’s not a dominant taste she’s OK with it. I also put cilantro in green sauces or dressings, ditto with the ‘dominant flavor’ exception here too.

I have discovered that I can use more garlic if it is fresh from the clove. The powdered garlic almost turns my stomach. I actually take garlic, Kyolic Garlic, because I know it is good for you. I had to find one that didn’t leave the smell on my breath or skin.

When my sister in law was pregnant she roasted an entire garlic and then ate it smeared on bread, she was sweating garlic! Her husband made her close the bedroom door and he slept on the couch 🙂 !

LOL I have a friend who took a lot of garlic when she was sick and her not-lightweight husband had a problem with her smelling like garlic, too. Garlic was the only thing I had a problem with when I was pregnant.

I was pregnant at 41 and had a problem that they fixed with a couple of shots of progesterone, I believe it was. The next day after each shot were the only two days that I had morning sickness. I assume that that is what causes it.

I was sick all 9 months with all 3 pregnancies. I could not handle any odors even pleasant odors.
Throwing up in the middle of a grocery store is particularly charming!

I had terrible nausea and vomiting for the first three months of my pregnancy. My doctor gave me periodic vitamin B-12 injections, which helped but didn’t eliminate the problem. Prior to the injections, though, I couldn’t keep anything down, and lost 13 pounds in one week! What I had they used to call pernicious vomiting. The correct name for the condition is hyperemesis gravidarum.
lovely mentioned smells. Ditto here. I was a fairly heavy smoker, but couldn’t stand the smell of cigarette smoke at all, and quit during pregnancy.

My husband had a cousin who was desperately ill during her pregnancy and the doctor told her she had to keep some food down. One morning she ate breakfast, then threw up. Her mother made her 6 more breakfasts after that and she finally managed to keep the last one down. It made her mother sick to watch her.

My routine during that time was to get up, go to the bathroom and throw up, then have breakfast. True story. Ironically, I felt better with food in my stomach, and I ate about six times a day.

My problem was that after I ate breakfast, I would feel listless and sleepy. The doctor said it was because of the fasting overnight and just to lie down for a while. It worked, but as my pregnancy progressed, the time I needed to rest grew. So, I started waking up about 4:00 in the morning, eating and then going back to bed and sleeping another few hours. That solved the problem. I didn’t have diabetes or anything.

Washington Island WI has a whole little industry of edible lavender (two different types one is edible one is grown for its scent) .

I’ll eat anything! Sometimes that’s the problem. When pregnant, I wanted peaches and turnip greens! Not at the same time, but I craved them both. I tried taking some garlic pills once, but they made me leave a smell in the bathroom like paint stripper! It scared me until I remembered I was taking garlic pills!
